Not saying it cant be done without all the math but not everyone has the natural skill for free hand sketching. In fact most people don't. Math removes that barrier and allows everyone to create decent shoes with consistent results.
I hope i got your question correctly. The stitching awl is used if you don't have the wheel tracer. It basically makes dotted impressions on the pattern paper that you can trace out with a pen and then cut out as required.
I wanted to add a strip at the back there but decided against it and went with a back seam instead. It is still there I'm the pattern and I can use it anytime for another pair.
In ur oxford design pattern the vamp was splited independently of the rest of the pattern but in this Derby design you split the vamp together with the rest of the pattern. Pls can u explain why? Secondly, why is the method of designing oxford you used different from the method of Derby design? Can I use the oxford method on the derby design?
Good observation, as I answered to your question on the Oxford video you can spring the entire mean forme or just the vamp. I guess you noticed because the vamp of a derby is larger than that of an Oxford seeing that it contains the tongue.
Sorry, I got it now. U mean the oxford can be spring in both ways I.e either separately or together with the rest of the pattern. Maywhile , the derby can only be spring together with the rest due to the large tongue, isn't what u mean, pls explain.
There one other thing I noticed,u marked the quarter first on the mean form before springing the vamp,is that a most or can be done either ways? Pls clarify. Thank u.

Please can you give a hint on how you cut the different components of the pattern using your cutter and sewing hawl?

Hi! what leather thickness would you recomend? and for lining? thanks in advanced
I typically use about 2 - 2.5mm for fine shoes and thicker for heavier boots. For linings, 1 - 1.5mm
