I've owned 3 GBs for awhile, they take awhile to warm up. Trickle charger goes a long way. The rarest exuasts are the supertrapp, sold as a race option from Honda. Cheers on your find!
Back in 1991, I finished my MSF class and started looking at new bikes. The Honda dealer still had a 1989 GB500 sitting brand new on their showroom floor where it had been sitting for two years. They also had a new1988 NT650 (Hawk GT). Honda had some really cool options out there back in those days, but alas, the GB500 cost about as much as a new CBR600 Hurricane and the market was slim. These bikes both have cult followings these days. The dealer had both the Hawk and the GB priced at $2,500. I ended up getting the Hawk GT as my first bike. I figured the twin cylinders and more sophisticated frame and brakes would better for me. It was a great motorcycle and I loved it, but the GB haunted me until I found a used one years later. They are a lot of fun to ride, light, easy, and very reliable. Note, you mention in the video that they are black with gold pinstripes. The paint on these is actually green. It's almost black with green metalflake, so in the right light it has a green glow, they really nailed the British theme.
Thanks for the comment. I thought I mentioned that it looks black but is green towards the end of the video. Oh well you are right in the sun it’s green very unique paint.
Such a cool bike! I had the good fortune to ride my friend Ray’s bike. So much fun! He sold his for £500 about 10 years ago when nobody wanted them 😬😬😬😬😭😭😭😭 I should have bought i!!!
I've had three of these fabulous GB machines. The electric start was not a strong point. Better and often easier to kick-start them from cold. The GB 400 TT was actually a more enjoyable machine to ride. smoother and more balanced. The 500 would often just stop on tick-over, the 400s never did. Maybe the cam profile was less severe on the 400? lovely development of the Manx Norton, Gold Star, Matchless 500 thumpers
Awesome video man! I have one myself with same Jack Batson exhaust and a custom seat in brown suede that makes it look even more cooler. I love Hondas and when I first saw one when I lived in CA back in the late '90s I dreamed of getting one and after 16 yrs finally saw one in Charlottesville, VA stashed in the back of a barn. Previous lady owner rode it for a long time and must've had a close call as she just stopped riding one day. These things are so fun to ride, I like it more than my VFR. Missing it as I'm deployed here in Afghanistan. Thank you for posting this:)
Popular in NZ, especially with a XR650 motor. I've had 2 500's and they just seem to fit me right. Might get another and look for a Dominator engine and some suspension work. Be a great adjunct to my T120.
Thank you for sharing. Can I suggest that less is more with your logo at the beginning? Great bike. Ironically we didn’t get this one in the UK. There are a few bikes that Honda built which were before their time, and definitely should be rereleased. But of course they can’t be due to the stupid emissions regs. Which ones? The 400cc NC27 CB-1 and the GB500 which is what every builder of a passé racer would build if he had enough imagination and wasn’t wedded to the idea of the stupid Bermuda Triangle behind the carb. Finally, I totally agree with you over the exhaust, though performance exhausts can mean a bike has been run hard. I’d also re-sleeve it to fit a 600 piston. That could potentially give it the extra kick it needs out on the highway: nearly 49hp v 33hp in standard 500cc!
I guess there is a certain likeness Of this batson exhaust But I did not find it even close to all the talk about them I would certainly pass and stick to The brothers vintage classic exhausT

I have always loved the old Honda’s and while not “old” this is bike is a beautiful bike. BTW nice 400f as well I own a 75 in Varnish blue.
It's a CB750F in the video, we have a varnish blue 400f also!
Man, that bike sounds awesome!
Beautiful bike!

WOW what a bike. I'd like to see one of these on a run around the loop.
Great idea! Here is that exact thing. In The Loop | Episode 4 - 1990 Honda GB500TT Tourist Trophy

Thanks for the comment! Since this video we have picked up another GB500 and a GB400 (Japan only)

Thanks! You are probably right with the logo/intro.
I really wanted one of these when I was 16..
Why not now?
Me to!!
The GB500 color is NOT black but (Dark)Green. Runs better with the original exhaust.
I remember when this bike came out. Loved it but it was a little to small for me.
It's a great bike, for sure!
Спасибо за русские субтитры, сколько будет стоить сейчас этот мот?
What's the to speed on these?
Think they could hit about 100mph
Well it's all about
Having steel balls
The front fork lets it down
Would look much more sexy with a beefier one
Saya berharap motor ini dapat dibawa ke indonesia
I guess there is a certain likeness

I have one with only 68mils on it brand new barn find. Bike is showroom condition
Wow, lucky!
@@throttlecompany Any ideas what it's worth?
@@brettwilson3142 about £5,000.00 if its properly mint.
Didn’t strike me as in depth or is it just me??
