Im Schatten des Waldes, im Buchengezweig,
da regt's sich und raschelt und flüstert zugleich.
Es flackern die Flammen, es gaukelt der Schein
um bunte Gestalten, um Laub und Gestein.
Da ist der Zigeuner bewegliche Schaar
mit blitzenden Aug' und mit wallendem Haar,
gesäugt an des Niles geheiligter Fluth,
gebräunt von Hispaniens südlicher Gluth.
Um's lodernde Feuer, in schwellendem Grün,
da lagern die Männer verwildert und kühn,
da kauern die Weiber und rüsten das Mahl,
und füllen geschäftig den alten Pokal.
Und Sagen und Lieder ertönen im Rund,
wie Spaniens Gärten so blühend und bunt,
und magische Sprüche für Noth und Gefahr
verkündet die Alte der horchenden Schaar.
Schwarzäugige Mädchen beginnen den Tanz.
Da sprühen die Fackeln im rötlichen Glanz.
Es lockt die Gitarre, die Cymbel klingt.
Wie wild und wilder der Reigen sich schlingt!
Dann ruh'n sie ermüdet vom nächtlichen Reih'n.
Es rauschen die Buchen in Schlummer sie ein.
Und die aus der glücklichen Heimath verbannt,
sie schauen im Traume das glückliche Land.
Doch wie nun im Osten der Morgen erwacht,
verlöschen die schönen Gebilde der Nacht,
Es scharret das Maulthier bei Tagesbeginn,
fort zieh'n die Gestalten, wer sagt dir wohin?

うちのクラス１回ドイツ語で歌おうか真面目に審議してたw
本当に美声で、特にｿﾛの男声テノールの方の響きにうっとりしていました。
私は女ですが、ソプラノの声の出し方や響きは見本になります。
歌詞もメロディも全体的な雰囲気も、とても好きすぎる。お酒飲むと聴きたくなる。

日本語と全然歌詞違うし翻訳されたのをそのまま歌えって言われても無理だす
歌詞を改めて観ていると、ヴェルディのオペラ「オテロ」の第１幕で合唱が歌う夜営の歌（幸福の炎）に似ている様な気がします。ヴェルディがシューマンのこの曲を参考にしたとも考えられませんか？

ドイツ語と石倉小三郎氏による和訳の対訳を拝見したが、ドイツ語の意味を実に巧みに日本語に翻訳されています。専門家の評価は割れていますが、個人的には秀逸な和訳たと思います。
Very professional.
I think he is just putting everything he has into the song. His lips are more prominent/larger than some, and I think that makes him look like he is making a face. To me he looks like he has given every ounce of energy he has into this singing. Of course, that seems to be true of all the singers, the pianist, and of course Prof. Schmidt-Gaden. And look at the concentration in the face of Helga Schmidt-Gaden.

@BBear0607 I've been Alto before, and I have a lot of fun picking out the harmonies. It's cool to hear how they all fit together to make the chord, hence, crazy awesome music:) You should be proud!:D A choir wouldn't be a choir without Altos:]

I absolutely LOVE this song. My Select Ensemble is doing it this year. and I am nervous. Hebrew, Latin, Italian, and French are easy for me to learn to sing, but the German is tough! XD Love the dynamics for this song, though.

This Japanese studio concert is excellent. Surely the masters are stored out there somewhere. A DVD would sell very well.

great interpretation. Best version I found so far, with excellent dynamic and a really good musical interpretation of the lyrics.
Einfach ein Meisterwerk: Die Sprache und die Musik sehr bildhaft. Das tolle an diesem Chor ist einfach, man versteht, was gesungen wird

@VitaKristelle Yeah, I have to admit, Texas has one of the best State High School choirs around. Been to a couple of other states, and they just don't compare.

@iloveredsox7020 Actually, the accents should be over done. The song is a dance. I've sang it a couple times- without that lovely bounce it isn't light and free. It also makes it TONS more fun to sing when you are bouncy bouncy with le piano.
Der Chor singt zu pulsierend, z.T. sehr nachdrückend gesungen, die gemeinsame Konsonantenabsprache ist sehr schlecht. Der Pianist ist leider auch nicht gerade gut. Positiv fallen die Solisten auf.
Insgesamt schade bei so einem Chor, der sicherlich ein sehr gutes Potential hat, da ist mehr rauszuholen.

@christophbell2 I haven't listened to that one yet! I'm sure it's just as beautiful as the others though:) I'm a Soprano1, but I've moved around before. It's actually really fun, though sometimes you get a headache from all the high notes:P Well that's so cool that you're singing this set too! I'm guessing you're in Texas as well?
Also ich sage das der Pianist sehr gut ist! Der spielt auch nur nach Noten und macht dort keine Fehler, da ich das Stück in und auswendig kenne!

our choir sings this often... we'll be in firenze, rome and saint malo this year... but not with that song^^ xD
I really liked it. I have listened to the version of the St. Florian boys choir, but Tölzer version is a billioin times better.

Ich bin vor einem Monat von Sevilla nach Bad Tölz gefahren, um ein Konzert der Buben zum Erstenmal anzuschauen: Herrlich, wunderschön!!! Und Frau Schmidt-Gaden hat mich sooo gut behandelt...! Es lohnt sich wirklich, obwohl Sie weit weg leben!

Die Gesnagsleistung ist super, aber die Betonung der ersten Viertel stört das Bild. Das heißt: BUM, bum,bum,bum, BUM,bum,bum,bum... Das stört ein wenig.
We’re doing this in choir for our winter concert in January. I love the German language and I’m a classical musician so this style is very close to home for me. None of the other tenors want the solo so it’s all mine! Wünsch mir Glück haha
