    Long back for over 250 years, the history of Tara Devi Temple has been traced. It is believed that Goddess Tara was brought all the way from West Bengal to Himachal Pradesh. There was a king from the Sen dynasty, Raja Bhupendra Sen happen to witness the vision of Goddess Tara along with Lord Hanuman, who desired that she should be available for the public to pray and seek blessings. That was the exact time when he donated a big chunk of his land in order to build this temple in due respect of Goddess Tara.
    Perched atop a hill some 13 km from the Himachal Pradesh capital,Shimla, the ancient temple has regained its glory with the past recreated in the present after a painstaking rebuilding process spread over three-and-a-half years.
    The statue of the Tara deity was established there on July 20 with due rituals by 90 priests specially invited for the occasion. Now, the temple also enshrines the statues of maa Saraswati and maa Kali.
    The old temple, built by the erstwhile ruler of the Keonthal estate, was demolished entirely as the wood used in its construction had weathered.
    Tara Devi Temple, Shimla is gifted with amazing architecture, having been rebuilt in a Pahari style. The temple is constructed with woods that have changed the overall look of the temple.
    Talking about the architecture of the temple from inside, the doors and the wooden structure of the Tara Devi Temple is carefully designed with the miniatures of Goddesses. Apart from that, one can also witness the beauty of gold and silver work all over the holy place.

    Officials say in total there are over 25,000 small and big temples in HimachalPradesh, comprising largely local deities, dotted across the state.
    Most of them have been built in typical hill architecture style using wood and slate.
    Out of them, over 2,000 temples and monasteries are centuries-old. Of these, 60 are under the care of the Archaeological Survey of India while 36 are under the control of the state's Language, Art and Culture Department.

    BY AIR :- the nearest airport to reach Tara Devi Temple is Jubbalhatti Airport, which is approximately 22 km away from Tara Devi Temple, Shimla. From the airport, you can look for a cab or a taxi and can reach to your destination.
    BY TRAIN:- For the ones who will be travelling via train, Shimla Railway Station is the closest railway station to Tara Devi Temple that is 10 km away from the temple, though Tara devi itself have a railway station, one can opt a train journey from shimla to tara devi station & then trek to the temple or simply take a cab.
    BY ROAD :- by road one can reach Tara Devi
    Temple from Shoghi, Shimla which is well-connected to all parts of the city by road. From here, you will also get a lot of private and public-owned buses option.
    Frequency of buses on weekends are increased due to heavy rush of devotees.
