    Speaking of arcade tournaments, here's a fun fact: In arcade tournaments (back in the day), Cinder used to be banned, partly because of his infinite air juggle, but also because, with a then-secret code, you could select Eyedol with Cinder (who was also banned, in part also because of his infinite air juggling).

    • @maisumpai9551
      @maisumpai9551 4 місяці тому +2

      @@maisumpai9551, that's the Super Nintendo version. I'm talking about the actual MAME arcade version.
      There were a few different arcade variations, two of which became popular, and one of which served as the basis for the Super Nintendo port (the other of which was one of the earlier versions). In that earlier version (version 1.5A, I think?), instead of Cinder, you selected Riptor instead and put in a different code on the Vs. screen to choose Eyedol.

    • @georgejackson4426

      I was the reason why Eyedol was banned at my local arcade and I never used the infinite juggle combo. Eyedol is awesome offensively but he's almost untouchable if you play him as a defensive character.

    Love the original game so much TJ Combo is my favorite fighter. Got the code mystics version on Xbox series S. The arcade version released 1994. SNES was 95.
    UUULLLTTRRAA CCOOMMMBBOO!!
    This game was originally called Brute Force I think and they changed it to Killer Instinct. And the game was supposed to be on N64 (at the time called the Nintendo Ultra 64) but was moved to the SNES console. Don’t remember why. May have been the console delay where the N64 released in 96.
    Eyedoll is so hard you land one hit and he goes beserk mode almost KO’s you on arcade hardest difficulty and on top of that I think he has a move where he can heal himself when he slides or stomp his hoof down and don’t remember which one.😂
    Smug you should check out the arcade version of the game.

    It reminds you of MK because during the time of MK3 the marketing of the game was doo doo, they then brought Trilogy by using KI's combo system and then created the Ultimate version... So because MK used KI's combo system it revived the game and it became a classic. Many parodies of the game were created after that. Without KI there would be no MK.

    • @smoothsavage2870
      @smoothsavage2870 4 місяці тому +5

      Why do people do this...? Both games went for a more realistic look. Both games also borrowed from each other. MK borrowed from the combo system and KI borrowed the fatalities/finishers. That has a lot to do with the fact that they were both published by Midway. MK came out 2 years before KI. Maybe the combo system wouldnt exist in MK without KI, but MK itself definitely would be there if there was no KI.

For those who have never played this game, go to an arcade that has a Killer Instinct cabinet, and invest $10 to it. Make it a pilgrimage if you have to. Why? Well, all of a sudden, nearly ev'very fighting game is combo based and the music has to be perfect. Thanks To... KILLER INSTINCT. Stahp! How have you never heard of Killer Instinct or at least seen/played. Even the remake back in 2013?! C'mon, bro. Stop trolling. KI was the sh*t back in the 90's and when it was brought back in 2013, it was even crazier. Out of all the fighting games out there, this is a game, that played at the top level, you cannot get sick of watching. There's no formula. There's no predictable combos. The mental meta is unreal with the combo breaker system. It's what sets it apart from all the other games. There are no guarantees in this game unless you mess up and get locked out or counter-breaker'd. Truly a treat to watch every time.

  • @Dishinshoryuken

    See the thing about KI is the CCCCOMBO BREAKER!!
    Getting SmackAttacked by your opponent and then in the midst of them doong their hits, you say STOP....and stop the combo.
    Plus it gives you access to shadow moves that are linger versions of your move so combos get longer as well as multiple juggle hits at the end
    The variety in the characters and see the combos pop off isa delight in Killer Instinct (Arcade, SNES) KI2, KIgold, and the rebirth of the KI on Xbox One and PC.
    Check em out and remember that the secret to the best combos in the series is to get that Breaker and then unleash on your foe

    When I was a kid I used to play Cinder because his combos where extremely easy to do. Years later I emulated the game on my Wii and I got obsessed with Fulgor, crazy nasty combos.

    This was basically their character of Mike Tyson for this game in case anybody didn't know that. That's why they made the character but they didn't want to make it exactly like Mike cuz they didn't want to pay him so they derived this character up. Gave him a flat top as you noticed he has the American colors on. They basically was representing Mike Tyson when he was going for the Olympics Golden gloves back when he was a beast

    Back in 1994 (when this game came out), EVERYONE had a flat top. So many people had flat tops that they started getting artistic with it, like adding stairways.

    This game was so epic when it came out! The graphics were very advanced for the time... I used to play this in the Arcade and later on console when it came out. It's still a thing in the fight game scene and I believe there was even a recent new version. The combo's were crazy especially the ultra's... i there were even some infinites. It's basically MK with other characters (fancier graphics at the time) and a better combo system (64+ hit combo's). At the time you could only get the combo's from game magazines or watching other players. No internet...

    Fun fact about KI1, grabs were so universally hated and considered cheap by the fgc back then that the KI team made KI1 with absolutely no grabs or throws at all, it wasn't until KI2/ gold when they finally implemented grabs at all.

    this game is peak 90s edge, flattop and all. and the thing of KI is, it's not that the characters are necessarily spammy, it's more that the game system puts a HUGE emphasis on combos. you can play it like every other fighting game, to be sure, but knowing how to combo is the real key to victory in KI.
    i recommend that you look up the Arcade version, though. as serviceable as the SNES port was, the Arcade had some pretty mind-blowing tech for 1994. and i wouldn't watch TAS, i feel that's just weak. but hey, you do you.
    by the way, believe it or not, KI is rated T. it has blood and fatalities, but these are generally less violent than MK (nobody gets mutilated or disemboweled, for example).
