I've been planning to travel to my friend from childhood's grave. The lyrics for this song seem to describe the journey I'm yet to make. I haven't seen his grave for about 30 years. This will be on the soundtrack I make to get there.
I'm only here because of the TV show 'Patriot', and god is this song so incredible... I wish I'd been born earlier so I could encourage people to love this lady.
Great to know that she's still around. I bought her single "some things still stick in your mind" back in the 60's, and kept it for decades. Sadly all my collection now gone.
Only just discovered this lady today via a cover of Train Song. Another example of the depth of talent at the time. I don’t want to slag off the current crop of commercially successful British singer-songwriters, but I can’t help it when there are so many who didn’t become a household name and wrote much better songs. Maybe though its turned out better for her. She still looks good now, and here (in her sixties?) she still has an exceptional voice.
It is a new find for me! I have slightly obsessed over this song while watching the TV series Patriot. I always wonder how these songs are found and selected. Amazing selection regardless.
She recorded this the year I was born, first time I heard it,was in a Vodafone ad in New Zealand a few years ago, fell in love with the song, long before I found out she recorded it the year I was born, which was 3 minutes when I clicked play.💕
Traveling north, traveling north to find you Train wheels beating, the wind in my eyes Don't even know what I'll say when I find you Call out your name, love, don't be surprised It's so many miles and so long since I've met you Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you But suddenly now I know where I belong It's many hundred miles and it won't be long It won't be long It won't be long It won't be long Nothing at all in my head to say to you Only the beat of the train I'm on Nothing I've learned all my life on the way to you One day our love, it's over and gone It's so many miles and so long since I've met you Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you But suddenly now I know where I belong It's many hundred miles and it won't be long It won't be long It won't be long It won't be long What will I do if there's someone there with you? Maybe someone you've always known How do I know I can come and give to you? Love with no warning and find you alone It's so many miles and so long since I've met you Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you But suddenly now I know where I belong It's many hundred miles and it won't be long It won't be long, it won't be long, it won't be long

How is this woman not the biggest star in the world .Adele ? This is real and beautiful. I listened to her and it pisses on every woman singer .the only one with heart and emotion like her is hazel o Conner who I saw live at North pier bpool before her brain hameroge and she was amazing
Could someone write down what she says at the beginning? I think she's explaining the story of the song. A gift from a friend of her??? Please, someone - Thanks.
Vashti talks about Alasdair Clayre, a poet ten years older than she, who, when she was a young student, left poems in the milk bottles outside her door. He was is love with her, we must suppose. These uncharitable days he might be described as a bit of a stalker, Clayre was a brilliant and talented but, it would seem, tragically flawed individual who committed suicide at the age of 49.
Heard the remix its amazing.just too short .adverts took her in on a few songs for trainers etc thats why this reimergence. Only claim to fame was supporting Donovan . Its so sad .she should be a legend .
Her voice is beautiful.she looks great for age . Were are all the record companies? Shows how useless they are . Promoting plastic wallpaper music ,so anodine and mechanical. Makes me sad
I was there! I was sat next to Vashti's brother.
lucky! i wonder what it was like to see her in person
What an absolute privilege. I deeply envy you.
Amazing it wasn't a huge success in 1966. Its a brilliant song.
the beatles and all were dominating so hard, a starting artist had no room at all then i think
she is so beautiful !
50 years after this song got released and she still sounds the same, I truly admire her.

I wish you a soothing journey and comfort when you arrive.
this so wholesome man, i’m sorry for your loss
After 30+ years and she still sings beautifully
👍
Even 50 years later :)
1966 + 50 = 2016
...and looks beautifully!
I'm only here because of the TV show 'Patriot', and god is this song so incredible... I wish I'd been born earlier so I could encourage people to love this lady.
You can do that now
Patriot...Thanks for exposing me to such bliss
Love that show and it’s songs.
I am here too becoz of patriot.
Me too !
Right! First heard this song as the theme for Patriot.
Too, too hauntingly beautiful. Vashti is indeed a goddess!
True

She’s an angel 😭
Wow. Still beautiful, still angelic. One of the best songs ever recorded. Just love her.
Just discovered her about a year ago, just realized today that she isn’t from the current music world. Incredible, ahead of her time in my opinion.
She still has a great voice, usually that goes with age but she's still singing like the original recording. That's impressive
Услышал Вашу песня в каком-то шпионском сериале. Название не помню. Но Вашу песню запомнил и нашёл. Слушаю теперь...🙂Спасибо.
Love hearing this in the Patriot opening.
Im so glad shes still around doing well
I’m glad to see she got back in the game after so many years. I just discovered her by accident last year.

Think in her seventies . I just found her by chance .she is the most underrated star. She should be a legend.
the wind in my eyes..
"nothing I've learned in my life on my way to you" so honest, so real.
I can't find words to describe how effective your music is...
Your music is real, your music is "love"
I haven';t heard anything else by her I really loved, but this is sublime - love and fate in one heart-stopping package.
spine tingling. God I wish I was there
Zak's Life I saw her live from the front row in 2010 or 2011. It was absolutely magical!
She's so great
this song is absolutely phenomenal. its painfully beautiful

寂しさに寄り添う声色、やるせない寂しい時を思い出す 声色と音階 気持ちを表現してくれる素敵な歌
Such art, this is truly breathe taking.

Train song is by far my favorite of hers her singing in both the original and this version is just so hauntingly beautiful
she and the velvet underground are soo underrated during the 60s
So magical!
so sublime.... almost magnanimus..... great voice .....
She is amazing... how lovely.
Traveling north, traveling north to find you
Train wheels beating, the wind in my eyes
Don't even know what I'll say when I find you
Call out your name, love, don't be surprised
It's so many miles and so long since I've met you
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
But suddenly now I know where I belong
It's many hundred miles and it won't be long
It won't be long
It won't be long
It won't be long
Nothing at all in my head to say to you
Only the beat of the train I'm on
Nothing I've learned all my life on the way to you
One day our love, it's over and gone
It's so many miles and so long since I've met you
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
But suddenly now I know where I belong
It's many hundred miles and it won't be long
It won't be long
It won't be long
It won't be long
What will I do if there's someone there with you?
Maybe someone you've always known
How do I know I can come and give to you?
Love with no warning and find you alone
It's so many miles and so long since I've met you
Don't even know what I'll find when I get to you
But suddenly now I know where I belong

@@genericwaz bless you 💝
song starts at 1:30
This is so great, though not sure what his backing singing adds to be honest.
There was a bag...
how old is she?
74
Born in 1945!!!
Heard the remix its amazing.just too short .adverts took her in on a few songs for trainers etc thats why this reimergence. Only claim to fame was supporting Donovan . Its so sad .she should be a legend .
:(
Is it wrong to worship Vashti Bunyan as a goddess?
Her voice is beautiful.she looks great for age . Were are all the record companies? Shows how useless they are . Promoting plastic wallpaper music ,so anodine and mechanical. Makes me sad
REAL MUSIC. Learn to play a Musical Instrument instead of Copy and Pasting music bits and claiming it as your own song.
I can sing much easier in this key.
