Thanks for a good review! I just bought a pair and I think they are great! Could you make a video showing how you would use them in outdoor and indoor shooting?
I totally agree. It's a great product. I promise, there will be videos on that coming up. I was planning on shooting more with them outdoors on a trip up north. But the sun doesn't set there so it was light 24/7 🤣
Thank you! I just posted a new video on these lights when used for an interview setup. Check it out if you want to see them in a real world situation 😉🙃
Oh wow, thank you! I've watched a lot of your videos. My setup is as simple as can be. Godox SL60W, a 5 in 1 reflector and a Fujifilm X-T4. All shot in front of a TV in the livingroom ;)
@@thomasfransson Wow, very nice! You've managed to get a really crisp and colorful shot, I love it! Kinda jealous actually of how good it looks :D Keep it up
@@FellowFilmmaker Thank you, that's very kind of you to say. I don’t have any particular secrets. But being back lit by that TV probably helps getting pretty punchy colors and contrast. That all I can think of ;)
It can be dimmed down to 1% But as with most dimmable lights, 1% is not a "barely visible glow" if you look at the LED beads. Still, the difference between min and full output is significant.
Seeing or not seeing the chips depends on how you expose. And in correlation to that where the lights are placed in your focal plain and available ambient light/levels. Normally one doesn't necessarily focus on the tubelight themselves but rather a subject in front or behind the lights. This provides some out of focus blur which furthers the amount output that can be used in a shot.
Yes, they will. One thing to keep in mind is that some powerbanks will stop charging when they detect a full battery and not kick back into charging mode when the battery level of the TL30 drops. In the studio, I run them for hours on charging bricks.
Hi, the background in my video is not lit with these tube lights. But you can definitely get a colorful background by using TL30 tubes and have them shine onto a fairly neutral colored wall behind you. You could also look at something with a bit more output like an RGB LED panel from brands like GVM. These will have a higher output and allow you to cast a more saturated light on your background. Lights like the GVM 800D will run you about the same as 2 tubelights. You will be getting a higher output. The only drawback is space and portability if that is a concern.
Oh, I have not heard about that. I get about an hour when I use the as a kicker at 94-100% at 5400k during my talking head recordings. So I would say that the advertised time holds up pretty well. I sometimes have them connected to a powerbank for longer sessions.
True, there’s a thread mount in each end so worst case scenario you could mount it with the control side hanging free. But the angled usb-C really made it a no-problem.
This feels more like a shill than a review. Making statements like "it works great even if you're outside in bright daylight" but only showing footage using it in 1. A dark studio 2. Outside at night and 3. In a dark barn seems disingenuous at best.
😅 sorry to disappoint 😔 I do believe this video was more focused on why Godox TL30 was a good alternative to the PavoTubes. Comparing specs and giving an overview of features as well as some of the quirks I discovered while using the TL30. But once again, sorry if this video didn't provide the answers you were looking for. Happy new year!
You see that awful led spots via goods tube? You don’t have these with nanlite, na lite much more beautiful diffuse the light. You don’t know what you talking about.
That depends entirely on how you expose the shot as well as the distance and placement of the tubelights in the shot obviously. If you expose for the LED's like I did in order to properly show the colors and not have them blown out. You will obviously see the beads.
@@thomasfransson understand. But is not possible to expose like you did with Nanlite. Doesn’t matter how you will expose the scene, nanlite will not show any beads. Kind regards
I'm not sure I follow you. But to give you some clarity in what I meant - I've not had any issues with visible beads during normal use. Normal as the tubelight isn't the main subject and I haven't stopped down the lens plus added ND to be able to expose for the light and showcase the color without losing/blowing out any details. If you look at the shots at 00:42 and 00:49 which is a more "normal use case" there's no visible LED beads. I hope this explains what I meant. Anyway - I take it that you're happy with your Pavotubes, that's great. Have a nice day
@@thomasfransson maybe I was little bit rude... sory for that.. and maybe you are right.. Everyonemake a mistakes... this time that was me.. Have a good day mate.
Are you thinking about the mini ball head? That's a smallrig 761 with the hot shoe mount unscrewed. It's not super super sturdy but I works. Thank you I'm glad it was helpful.
just the video i needed. u seriously need more subs!! love the content and quality!
Thank you Jeremy!

cool review & very good explained!👍🏻I like your idea to show the screenrecorded app between the tubelights😊
Thank you! So glad you liked it
Great video man! How dim does the light get?
It can be dimmed down to 1%

@@thomasfransson Great. Thank you for the reply. Have you tried the AMBITFUL A2 tube light before?
Sorry, I have not
Oh a swid! Tack, bra review :)
Being able to see the small lights inside looks cheap to me. The lights for the price is good but the nanlite’s single light bulb look looks best.

Did the pavotube 6c end up getting bluetooth support for the phone app or is it still needing the 300 dollar router?
I don't want to spoil the video for you, but the TL30's is definitely the way to go thanks to the phone app ;)
@@thomasfransson alright cheers, appreciate the reply :)
The app for iOS was released over 2 years ago, Android app has been available for almost a year now as well. No need for a router anymore.
Sold!
You will love them.
Thank you for the video!

Yes, they will.

What’s the battery rating on these? I heard they have battery inconsistencies issues

“Display works perfectly even outside in broad daylight” - as if you’re ever gona use the tiny light outside during daylight 🤣
Why wouldn't you?
the usb-c port design is terrible, it's definitely not cool if i set the tube in studio with power cables attached
