Lixouri Kefalonia Greece & Monastery of Saint Gerasimos

The stories in this video are true and are close to home for me and in my heart forever.
My parents both survived the events described in the special Historical Short preceding the feature presentation of present day Kefalonia with aerial video footage taken with my DJI Mini 2 drone on my latest trip to the island in 2023.
One of the events took place during World War II and the second event occurred just 10 years after and is known as the Great Kefalonia Earthquake which lifted the whole island 2 feet (60 cm).

Today, the island of Kefalonia in Greece is one of the most stunning, beautiful and peaceful islands from all other Ionian islands in the Mediterranean and virtually unknown to the tourism industry.
We will fly over the town of Lixouri, take a ferry ride to visit the Capital of Kefalinia “Argostoli” and visit a beautiful Monastery named after Kefalonia's Saint Gerasimos located up high in the mountains. Thousands of people visit this monastery from all walks of life to see the Saint’s body housed in the original monastery. We will also take a flight over the new and old monastery and all the surrounding farmlands that belong to them.
Still pristine and uncrowded, this island holds a lot of history, secrets and mysteries yet to be told and uncovered. If you’re into diving… there are several wrecks all around the island from World War II.
