Although this video demo is from 2017, this exact timer came with my 2020 fairy lights. If you want to SETUP timer function DO NOT use the remote ON button! Instead turn on lights via the MANUAL ON BUTTON on the PLUG. That’s what I learned on the internet after coming here for help 2 days ago! Once you push the ON button on the PLUG then push TIMER on the remote. Your lights will be on timer function for 6 hours on and 18 hours off unless you turn them off/ on with the red and green remote buttons.

You have to press the ON button on the plug at the time you want them to come on every day. Then press the pattern you want (in my case #8), then press TIMER. They'll come on every day at that time & go off 6hrs later. I'll have to do it tomorrow - I missed the time for today ! Lol. Thanks for explaining !!

These kinds of LED control boxes all usually work the same way. You plug in and leave them powered up continuously. When you select "Timer" the lamps will run for 8 Hours from that point, then switch off for 16 hours, then on again for 8 hours... until you press Timer and disable it. So, power them up and press Timer ONCE... then come back 9 hours later and you will find them switched off.

Anyone know how to keep each mode consistent? Mine, like the instructors, start speeding up in each mode. E.g. I press mode 1 it’s starts flashing and gets faster to really quick flashes after a a few seconds then resets to slow again. This seems weird and uncomfortable as a setting and I wonder if there was something I was missing? Please help!!

I have the lights on a timer and I like the steady on #8 however, each time they come on, I have to reset them to 8. Is there a way to program them so they come on in the “8” steady on mode?
I have bought many of these from China, cheap as chips, however. I never knew they had a timer. Maybe I should leave them on to see if a timer function indeed works. On my type the blue button just acts like the remote and cycles through the different modes, then off. The lights actually work through reverse polarity. That is to say that every other led is wired in reverse. The small ic unit then switches polarity to switch every other led on and off. In fact the lights are not actually on constantly but are flashing so fast the human eye cannot detect them being off (a bit like LEDs run on AC), that's how the dimming is controlled and the flashing speed. A very amazing little ic chip which must be produced in the millions for the units to be so cheap. I actually cut the lights off and put them in an empty bottle. I drill a small hole in the bottom of the bottle and glue an upturned IKEA cork cup holder onto the bottom, also with a hole. I thread the wires through and solder them back on the usb unit. That's after I have removed the USB plug and wired a female mico usb connector to it and then glued the micro usb connector into the cup holder side. Any phone charger then just plugs in. I either extend the ir receiver to the outside of the cup holder to allow for ir usage or I wire up an additional micro button and solder wires to the one on the unit and glue the new switch on the outside the cup holder for use. the Certainly many different uses for the lights and ic unit if one is willing to do a little soldering ;-)
I know this video came out a while ago but on my lights that I got on the box I plug in changes color but the lights itself don't change and I lost the instructions. I was wondering if I was doing something wrong?
yes I have one with 3 lights and one remote. problem is now I just added some new ones in the same room and the works for the new 2 and not the previous 2. trying to figure that out now
Why not put the controller IN SHOT, then aim the remote towards it? So stupid to have the IR target somewhere off to the right and then have to watch you struggling to try and demonstrate. At one stage you actually used TWO hands on the remote and you still failed to press the buttons and aim the remote properly. Talk about making things difficult LOL - and only at about 5 minutes in did you tell us it was USB powered

At the end is a usb plug in thing (looks like a hard drive) but you can plug it into a Apple iPhone or iPad box (thing you plug in wall) and if you turn it on with the remote it will turn on
Use the single button on the plastic shroud that encloses the USB plug. Also try getting closer to the USB plug enclosure before the remote will work. Maybe the battery is a bit flat?

I thought this was wireless, where you could use it without plugging it in, but you have to always have it plugged into a socket in order for it work.

Changing the battery works, if that doesn't work, then just buy a cheaper set for the remote itself, should be compatible.
I just needed to go closer to operate the remote. You also need to point directly at the plastic box that has the button.

I just found out that ot means the battery just needs to be changed. It worked fine after I put new batteries in.
