Ten years ago it would have been a pipe dream for an openly homosexual Aisan to become a mayor. It's great to see how times change; but it is also sad to see our progress halted in the process by right wingers and the military industrial complex.
Alan Grayson is a Bernicrat also. He's running for Senate in FL. Tim Canova is going after Debbie Shultz and he's a Berniecrat, too. We're coming for the government one seat at a time.
Since we should support Pro-Sanders progressives, here is a short list to keep in mind, Zephyr Teachout for NY and Alan Grayson for Florida. Also Tim Canova is who competing against pro-Hillary DNC chair Debbie Schultz for Congress. Look at their websites, spread the word and donate if you can!
+JonnyNice Believe it or not, the Vietnamese here in Garden Grove, lean fairly conservative on a lot of issues. They fled the spread of communism, so a lot of them have reservations about any socialist-leaning policies.
+JonnyNice Bernie is a New Deal Democrat. Given your comment, I guess you do not realize that there is a difference between a Communist and Socialist. Bernie is neither. He is a Democratic Socialist, which means "equality in a democratic state" - justice for all. Not a free for all, but JUSTICE for all.
thaisekine Many Vietnamese don't know that. They mostly motivated by deep hatred for communism and anything remotely related to it. Most Vietnamese I know hold a conservative belief. So I am glad to see a liberal one every now and then.
Ron Verastah was also at the rally, he is running for CA 45th Congressional district (Bao is running for 46th). I hope we can get as many of these Berniecrats elected as possible.
But we have to be careful I'm not talking about this person I'm talking about future politicians who will try to make the claim that they supported Bernie and they're like Bernie. We must stay vigilant and watch out for those who might wanna ride on Bernie Sanders coattails just to get elected
I know Orange County has a long-standing reputation for being "Deep Red", and while it may have been deserved in the past, The OC is gradually going purple. Irvine is now more a "University Town" (liberal) than a ranch ("conservative"). Laguna Beach is an artists' town, once described as "a little bit of Northern CA in Southern CA"; and the county's increasing Latino, Asian, and Near Eastern populations are shifting the spectrum towards the blue. The only parts of OC that remain as brick red as ever are some of the posh beach communities -- Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, etc. And as Mayor Nguyen said, part of it is voter turnout. There's traditionally been more than our share of voter apathy here, and that's allowed buffoons like Dana Rohrabacher to remain in office for decades... But it's slowly changing for the better...
California voters, be sure to vote for Bernie in this upcoming primary on Tuesday (or before, via absentee)! Send a message that we need more Berniecrats in congress!
+The Common People you really shouldn't down him. For many Americans this is a new change. I know where I'm from i never met a gay person till college. Doesn't mean I hate them just a bit different. Still support this man and I'm very proud of him
+THATCANADIANDUDE I get where your coming from. It's kinda new for a lot of people. Sometimes people confuse those kinds of answers with being a bigot . It's really not
Christine Jones THE PRIMARIES ARE WHERE ALL THE GOOD CANDIDATES ARE ELIMINATED. EDUCATE, VOLUNTEER, VOTE. We need progressives. There are simply NOT ENOUGH to make change happen.
A vote for Bao for Congress is a Nguyen Win.
That was great lol

Yeah Boa is running for the 46th.
There _is_ a Berniecrat running for Boxer's Senate seat -- His name is Steve Stokes.
Alan Grayson would be a cool VP pick eh? (I know strategically you're not supposed to have two White men - but that guy is strong progressive.)
