My distant memory... You were all very kind training me and showing around your Wigan Muliplex... I got asked a lot if i had seen Wigan Pier... Your screen 1 aspect Ratio had been made incorrectly and did not fit the movie Titanic... you told me when the ships horn sounds you need to rack up so as the english sub captions can bee seen...
I stayed as my Ipswich Virgin/UGC 11 screen till July 2000, I then moved into BBC Televsion ... as a presentaion operator and then as a playout director... I have spent years running UK Gold and family of channels including DAVE channel... I have run BBC ONE, TWO and FOUR... and finally for the last 6 years I have run the Internationl BBC World News channel... the one we all see when on holiday... My employer runs most non sat channels CH4, CH5, ITV, BT/TNT Sport... BBC ... etc... I have seen many changes in Kit over the last 24 years... the same as the cinema Industry.. Thanks for posting this Preston Cinema Video... I also worked for Odeon.. 95-97 Colchester Muliscreen cinema... VIC 4, 5, 8, 9, plus Phillips, Christie and Cinemeccanica ... Dolby Dig, A, SR audio... 6 Screens 5 projection rooms... Interlock too.. I used to do relief work... over my time I have worked at Cannon WESTCLIFF, BASILDON, SOUTHEND, Odeon Colchester, Virgin Ipswich... I have done relief work at Cannon Romford... Odeon Romford, Southend, Muswell Hill, Barking , Ipswich, and finall Virgin Rochester, Fulham RD and Training at Wigan... I loved my time spent in the Cinema Industry and still talk and bore my work mates... wish you the best too, Dan @@fp30e
