      They remind me of Mirko crocop and mark hunt when there was cross promotion K-1 vs pride FC (best kickboxing org vs best MMA org) .
      Some great k1 fighters didn't do well but crocop was the one of top k1 fighters to transition to MMA and it was scary and beautiful. Later mark hunt went to MMA as well. Golden age of heavyweight

      They did it with all of their Russian fighters because economically it wouldn’t be possible to give them fights. In basically every place where they have events (especially the Netherlands) Russian Atletes are banned from competing. So either they would need to go to countries which allow Russian athletes (Keep in mind that you definitely don’t get profit with it). Or kick them out for now.

      one of the few dudes that's actually on the level of Alex
      I still think technically Izzy does a lot of things better than Alex but overall if you look at their capabilities and specially offensively, these guys are a level(or at least half a level)above Izzy, which makes sense since these dudes been fighting high level kickboxers in the past 5 years while Izzy's been fighting Vettori, Costa and other braindead strikers, I mean obviously Izzy's been improving too but if you watch the first and second Alex vs Izzy kickboxing fight you can obviously tell Alex has improved more than Izzy, Izzy used to be the more technical Kickboxer back then but now Alex at least Offensively is a level above Izzy, defensively Izzy is better.

    Yes, this guy has that same powerful left hook, liver shot as does Inoue of Japan... If you could liver KO people with 10 - 14 ounce boxing gloves, you could much more easily do it with 4 ounce UFC gloves... He wouldn't be as "free" in MMA, esp at the UFC, as he was here in Glory pure stand-up's... but with elite wrestling coaches helping on that aspect of things, this guy's boxing/liver shot could be a game changer in many mma fights... especially now having seen him handle Alex Poatan the way he did in kickboxing; and Alex does just fine at the UFC.

Artem has been my favorite fighter in Glory since I first saw him, dude is a classically trained pianist and I notice a lot of aspects of music theory in his kickboxing style.
    It’s funny, I thought Artem should have won the first fight with Alex but then I thought he should have lost the rematch. So they are rightfully 1-1, each winning the match they should have lost. After the exposure Alex received from his UFC run and the knockout power he possesses being universally acknowledged it should stand to reason the level of impressiveness Artem displayed in going 10 full rounds against Alex and not hitting the ground at all.

    • @TheNEOverse
      @TheNEOverse Рік тому +2

      @@llewodcm20 The standard style of kickboxing revolves around using gloves as shields, trading punches in bunches and low kicks. None of this shit works well in MMA unless you have sensational takedown defence.
      Izzy works well because he moves about really well and doesn't care to throw in big combos. And when he was in Glory, he was already starting to train MMA properly- made him that much better for his transition.
      I mean just see how Gokhan Saki floundered. He could not use his blistering combos in the fear of being taken down, and he got clipped fairly often because of he didn't have the big gloves, though tbf he was getting old.

    • @moiseslevi7880
      @moiseslevi7880 Рік тому

      @@TheNEOverseis it correct to say that Izzy is a better MMA fighter than he was a kickboxer? Or does this just have more to do with his style? I mean, for me he's more technical than any of these monsters in Glory but apparently his style doesn't fit so well in kickboxing like it does in MMA and because of that he did not achieve anything big in Glory. Am I wrong and all of this has more to do with the other great kickboxers being better than him or the all thing is more about his fighting style?

    • @TheNEOverse
      @TheNEOverse Рік тому

      @@moiseslevi7880 Both, he's a better fit for MMA than kickboxing because of style. The ring makes it harder for him to move around, and since activity and aggression is favoured, he tends to lose decisions.
      I think him spending a considerable amount of time training MMA while doing the Glory schedule doesn't help either- he's not putting 100% into pure kickboxing.
      Mind you, he was quite an active fighter in kickboxing too, more combos and stuff in general.

    Dude throws his spinning backfist almost like a Tekken character: at a downward angle with his knuckles, rather than the horizontal hammerfist we tend to see. Kind of follows the same principle as Andy Hug's axe kicks: very few sports combatants really train how to defend against attacks coming directly from above, as it's usually difficult to generate power that way without a massive amount of telegraph.

    I saw Artem Vakhitov in person in my university (Kuzbass State Techinal University) on my first day back in September 2012 as he was giving a speech for all the newcomers. He made a funny mistake in that speech that made all of us laugh and he also laughed at himself for making a mistake. Nice guy, he likes his home town and trains in Muay Thai school that is situated in 15 minutes from my home.
