My favourite stories about Jon Ronson are from the times when he was based in Manchester and working on City Life and KFM - both stories told in City Life's gossip column by people who weren't Jon Ronson. There was the time he was a question master at a quiz at the Cornerhouse, and he was removed as the question master because most of his questions were about Charles Manson. (He didn't half used to go on about old Charlie M in those days) And there was the time there was a mass cull of DJ's at KFM, for which he was only saved from because he wrote a bunch of letters under pseudonyms saying how great he was and should be kept. (He did keep his Sunday show for a while after the rest were gone) I am sure only one of these stories was true. I'm not sure which one though.
Just catching up on this. The Man from Delmonte were amazing and if I am with my brother and sister and drink is taken, me still to this day end up dancing crazily to ‘Will nobody save Louise’
Had a "first performance" moment with The Boomtown Rats playing at Jay's Longhorn Bar in Minneapolis. At the end of their set Bob G. and Johnny Fingers came out to do one last song "that they hadn't worked out with the band yet" and they then played "I Don't Like Mondays". I was never all that fond of the recorded song but I do have a fond memory of hearing it played at The Longhorn. The other memory of that show was when they played "Looking Out For #1" with the last line "I'm gonna be like ME!", except that Bob left it to the crowd to shout out the last word. Bob looked really pissed off that everyone shouted "YOU!!" He was disgusted with us.
Another great episode. Thanks for bringing us these brilliant interviews. This deserves a much BIGGER audience!
Strange stories of sonic synchronicity..! Good stuff.
"Let music find you" - So true and for a lot things too and if you make space and time something great can come along.
As in that Pet Shop Boys song 'Love Comes Quickly' " 'cause just when you least expect it...just what you least expect"!
Lovely stuff again from the Kings of ‘bollocks island’…
The power of your reach is demonstrated. The court of King Caractacus (Brian Cant version) now trending on Twitter.
Stumblin In was huge in Australia. It got way up in the charts.
Chris Norman's poodle perm was a little unsettling!
@@philiphalpenny9761 Agreed!

Oh dear! you all know very well that was a Rolf Harris song….
I'd love to be a guest, ordinary Joe soap like me has been collecting records for 50 years.
"the moose mingles....he scores"
Jon’s ace.
He looks like he is still in hiding from 'Them'!!!!
