Just keep tickering with the drop and improvise whatever catch you want. My grandchildrenvlove to operate the "machine" so they can have their 2 gumballs for the visit.

I built this for my daughter and the gumballs get "stove piped" a majority of the time. Is there anything else I could do to help fix that?

Try to see where it is happening, just as they leave the jar, in the vertical shaft, or as they enter the shelf. The only thing I think you could try is to manually carve out the area where the gumballs fall into a funnel and see if that helps. The larger the ball the easier it will jam, conversly you migh try a smaller candy and see if it works better. I just bought new gumballs and they seem to be getting stuck more often. They may be slightly larger and are not exact spheres. When you find a way to get it working better please let me know.

Sorry, I don't have a pattern. I just think it through and then tinker with it until it runs smoothly.
