Give Justin Fields a chance
😂😅
💯
Justin Fields would be good if he had better players round him like an offensive line, receivers and. running game.
I’ve said on one of Matt’s videos and I’ll say it again here, in order to develop a QB, you need to actually let them attempt difficult throws and be ok with the consequences, good or bad. Every NFL QB worth their salt, threw almost 1 a game in their rookie year, even the best of the best. They need to go with Justin and let him actually play QB. We’ll see if Tomlin is still taking residency in Fear Town or not…
Talent and leadership goes hand in hand
There is nothing wrong with handing the reigns of this team to Justin Fields. We have to get a dominant offensive line. That is the problem, we could have mediocre quarterbacks. If we give him time. we could have mediocre running backs if the offense line creates holes all things are fine. get an offensive line
DK and fans are delusional about Justin Fields he's still college level.
@@jamesforeman7751that’s because of dk
As long as fields spends every day learning to scan the field and throw. Going into 26 years old, he's FAR from washed, but he also needs to show growth. Or be another Trubisky
@kylemundy8871 He's already another Trubisky. He was supposed to spend all his time studying defenses 4 years ago.
If I'm not mistaken Ben was 11th
Steve young was older and sat behind Montana for years as well.
We got talent on that oline we don't have a good oline coach
Zach Frazier needs to put Pickens in a figure 4 leg lock. That might straighten him up a bit
😂
It’s kinda disappointing No ONE in this channel is talking about the elephant in the room, aka the Edelman podcast bashing Tomlin, which was endorsed by Big Ben !
I'm quite sure that Justin Fields can lead the Steelers to the promised land of THE MEAN IS THE STANDARD. He can certainly go 9-8, back into the playoffs, play an away wildcard game, and get smoked in the 1st quarter.
Ben fell in his draft. If Cleveland weren't so inept at finding QB talent, they would have drafted him several spots higher instead of the TE they took.
Ben fell in the draft because he played for a small school - Miami of Ohio.
@@raymondrak961 he was a vaunted prospect- everyone knew there were 3 QBs in that draft worthy of a 1st round pick- at the same time, qbs were not as coveted as they r today- qbs were always getting passed on
@csquared973 or expected to sit a couple of years. Now, they're expected to start immediately to save salary cap money to buy other key roster spots around them.
@@raymondrak961 He was still projected to be a top 2 or 3 QB in the draft.
We had that with Ben
But there's no QB worth a top pick
I might be in the minority here but I think we HAVE one of the top QBs in the league, laugh all you want but Justin has better legs and athleticism than Lamar and we have only seen the beginning glimpses of his true arm talent. On top of that he is a HIGH HIGH character dude & really smart. Watch how rapidly his defense reading skills progress. DK, you know me, remember I said this
I’m right there with you man. I agree 100%. Not sure how we are in the minority here. Plus going the Justin route saves us from spending high draft capital on a qb. It allows us to go after wr or other positions of need that can help fields.
TJ Watt was picked 30th.
The problem is, the Steelers would have to get lucky by drafting somebody late for them to turn out to be the next franchise guy. They always do well enough to not pick early in the draft or to get an obvious top guy really at any position. It’s definitely possible to find great talent later in the draft, but it’s a lot of luck doing so, which the Steelers have shown that they struggle developing certain positions. With that being said, I don’t think we’ll have another Ben Roethlisberger until losing season occurs, which is why I believe a lot of people want to move on from Tomlin.
Respect the beard
Don't forget, the Steelers had Tommy Maddox and that team was built to make a Super Bowl run. And then he got hurt.
Ben was not salvation. Ben was coached. Ben had a defense that took up slack. Ben had a running game to lean on.
Cowher built teams to win after Neil O'Donnell.
That is not the situation with these Steelers
Winning teams spend money on offense... Our ownership has been financially benefiting from the fans loyalty and support for decades. It's about time we demand some reciprocation... I'm black and gold for life... But we're all sick and tired of hoping to draft another AB in the late rounds.
Well said.
They'd rather groom an eventual Cam replacement than fill the giant hole at WR. Even if they have a WR higher on their board &/or struck out in free agency at WR, they'll still draft that DT.
It's the perfect microcosm for what's wrong with MT's vision. Building through the trenches is a good thing, but nothing says you need to rely on exclusively vet min guys, mid round picks, & washed pro bowlers at WR while they emphasize building the trenches though.
Nothing will change until the Rooney's fire Tomlin
THE OLINE IS THE BIGGEST PROBLEM ...
Tomlin runs that soft zone BS defense need a dick lebeau create different zone blitzs so it is on Tomlin stop running the same defense because I do admit we got talent on the defense just need bigger stronger guys on the line build depth so you can rotate and keep the dline fresh and this defense would be unblockable
The great Bill Walsh once said, "The NFL collectively does a poor job of evaluating college QBs and a worse job of developing them." Mason Rudolph is a better QB than Mike Tomlin is a head coach.
The reason teams want their rookie qb 2 play as soon as possible is bc they r on a rookie contract- and that is easiest way 2 make it 2 a superbowl- put $ into rest of team while qb is not getting paid yet
Qb's don't mature until 28-30?! So, we've been dealing with baby Mahomes and Burrow so far? Guess we have at least 7-8 years of losing .
It doesn't matter who's it we will not put that person in a good position
I get what you are saying about out scouting other teams for talent. Only problem is the Steelers are not good at that.
Big Ben is dearly missed huh DK 😅
Hopefully we stick with Justin and let him play the entire season, just ride with Fields DAWG.
Too much talk not enough action
How many great QBs played with a terribble OL
Kurt Warner wasn’t even in league till 28-29 let alone play
J1Q: What do you make of this QB/OC discontent and other reporting about how Russ and Arthur functioned together? I'm sure Mike T was involved in that mix too. It just all seems sad and pathetic that a season has to be wasted/sacrificed to let the personal wrestling play out - all of the coaches' egos/decisions and player-playbook differences. That should be ironed out in training camp!?
Arthur and Russ both denied this.
Justin is the starter period
pretty sure they we 6-10 drafting Ben...and Cowher didn't really want him over Rivers
Then why didn't cowhers teams win more sbs
First & Foremost this offense needs Cooper Cupp!
Everybody knew who Kurt Warner was, until they didn’t so…….?
Great show, D/K as always with another great discussion. The Steelers should have drafted their franchise quarterback in 2018. Only we ruined their progression by veterans doing that Diva resentment that they are trying to replace them. When they began their career they replaced someone yet they didn't experience that Diva attitude. He accepted his situation and stayed professional and did everything to ensure you succeeded, which meant the TEAM succeeded. Especially the QB position which supposedly a important position. Only all of the emotional driven team leaders were gone after the SB lost to Green Bay. Ben got injured that was a omen. Retire just like T. Bradshaw did. No! Hanging on for one more at the teams expense to find the next franchise quarterback. No! Couldn't do that the old franchise quarterback gets his ego damaged. Stalling the growth of the TEAM for his Diva ego. Since the QB did it the dominoe effect happened. A team with three Divas but productive. Equal years of success but not in the playoffs because the team doesn't have the leadership to win one playoff and never will until . We fix or draft team oriented emotional driven team players.
Justin Fields ain’t playing for no punk 6 or 7 million. Look what the other QB’s are getting. 20 million a season for 2 years guaranteed!
We gave away QB , He's in the super Bowl
Pickett is trash
I would have liked to see more of him because I didn't see him play at Pitt. But you can't cop the attitude he got.
Good for Kenny Pickett, he may get a ring, but he's still a backup.
Drew Allar 2026…
Keep blaming Tomlin... You people are nuts... How many top 10 picks have we had in the last 15 years? We've only acquired, Minkah and Queen via trade or free agency.. 15 years people...
You forgot trading up for Devin Bush, but what does that have to do with so many other failures in multiple aspects of being a head coach with the level of control he has?
The defensive gameplans all year were subpar &/or vanilla. The defensive gameplan vs Baltimore in the wildcard is one of the worst I've ever seen in 25 years of really understanding the game & getting to coach it at a high level.
His meddling with offense showed it's ugly head the last game vs Cincy, & they never addressed the Achilles heel of offense with their lack of a number 2. Once teams figured out they could stack the box on 1st & 2nd, & just play cover two with an emphasis on doubling #14, the offense averaged 14.2 PPG.
If Russ couldn't take advantage of the Red Sea parting over the middle w/defenses squeezing the sidelines, they needed to adjust but never did.
If they weren't determined to go into every season with the most expensive defense & didn't totally mis-evaluate their WR talent, they wouldn't have been put in such a bad spot offensively.
I could go on & on, I defended the guy until mid season last year, so like DK I'm not blinded by some non football related grudge.
When the talent was good enough, he also fell short. Crazy is doing the same thing over & over and expecting different results. Knock yourself out with that, but most Steelers fans are tired of the season in/season out mediocrity.
@@Justin_Watson23 Exactly how much control do you believe he's had? He doesn't sign the checks. Tomlin didn't trade up for anything. Colbert did at the behest of ownership. When a company or corporation fails it's rarely the fault of employees. We can argue about it forever. The fact is that all Pittsburgh Professional sports have been hampered by their philosophy... "We ain't paying S--T"...
@@Justin_Watson23 you nailed it!!!
If OC Arthur Smith as OC was mostly responsible for JF’s development I would be skeptical. So i am really hopeful that a coach who no one has talked about is the QBs coach Tom Arth because JF needs a lot of instruction and he is someone who must be able to do his job.Of course that is predicated on better wide receivers, running backs and even more dependable tight ends. The all important phrase of the offensive line has to have time to gel or if that is not improved upon no matter the QB put in the pocket they will not be successful.
go get Tanner Mckee from Philly...
these QB classes are not going to get any better. The hunger is gone
Defense wins
Comparing Darnold and Fields is a bit misleading. They’re two very different QBs Darnold is a legit pocket passer who can throw the ball with anticipation and is just a more consistent thrower of the ball in terms of accuracy.
Fields has mechanical issues and as continued to struggle with improving his accuracy. He’s not a bad choice but let’s not over hype Fields
Tomlin is the coach he doesn't make the plays on the field
Yes offense is important but defense wins
That was true years ago but now it's offense. Good teams typically average over 30 points per game.
Hey, guys! REEEEEALLY could use some video J1Qs! Don’t be shy! And don’t be worried that it wouldn’t get used! If it’s decent - behave! - you’ll be on! Thirty seconds of a question, clip and email to J1Q@DKPittsburghSports.com … and thanks!
