Her voice is one of the powerful from the 60s. She wrote this song. I initially thought it was written by Hugh. Wow mama Dolly. Awu madoda.

I was very fortunate to meet her at Mole jazz record shop in London where she wanted to leave a promotion copy of her last album.
The shop owner didn't know her and I had to explain to him that she was very popular just as Miriam Makeba and he was impressed.
    RIP Legend.

I was privileged to meet her at the Barbican she was giving a talk in connection to Mayibuye Afrika. During the Q&A I put up my hand and managed to get the opportunity to speak, I thanked for her pioneering, revolutionary, spirit and her amazing compositions and her FASHIONS!! uMam Dorothy was not just a musician/composer/bandleader, she was also an intellectual, a revolutionary PAN AFRICANIST, a polygot (minimum she spoke 5 languages), a feminist and a FASHIONISTA to boot! We went down to the restaurant to have dinner but it was closed so we just had tea and cake (myself, her and the late promoter, Wala). She signed my programme which I have till today.

Dorothy Masuka was an excellent and prodigious song writer, she should have been better known than she was. Nevertheless, she was an accomplished musician as the great Miriam Makeba testified through singing many of her (Masuka's) songs. May she RIP.

'Zaramoku Indeed she was . The first Miriam Makeba song I fell in love with was 'Kadeya deya', a Shona song, which Mam Dorothy had taught Mam Miriam.

You are not recognized in your own country but overseas because recording companies used the artists without their knowledge and most of them died poor but anyway they did their part ❤🎉

He was a great legend. I was lucky enough to see him play in three separate cities = Livingstone and Lusaka in Zambia and Southampton, England. He was a blast on stage!
