As you say, replacing the pipework under the houses seems impractical, so running new pipe on a new route seems the only reasonable way to replace but still a big job. Unless they get recurring leakage incidents, I expect that repair will be there for a long time.
I did a leak on a bungalow in worcester, and the supply was from 1 stoptap in the footpath, that fed 15 other bungalows. I had the same problem. But SevernTrent inspector did his stuff and got the water turned off. Only problem was he snapped the crotch off in the process. Next thing I knew, half of ST turned up and dug up the road and fitted a new valve.
That pipework is unbelievable. How can 8 properties be fed like that? I bet your customers must love it when you come around and sort them out. Some of the work you expose is diabolical.
Apparently water companies in the UK aren't allowed to cut domestic customers off anyway, so it would be the same as any other customer who refused to pay. Increasingly threatening letters and ultimately legal action.
Water company would take legal action ultimately. However their responsibility is only up to the external isolation point. Everything past that is the homeowner(s) responsibility even if it's multiple properties.
@@Ad-gn8plYeah…this is why we have section 105a adoption of sewers as a statute now - customers on shared sewers were ending up with insanely expensive repair bills or even no sewerage because the negotiations to have collapses etc repaired would fail, so the water companies were forced to adopt any sewerage that drained more than 1 owner’s property. It seems to have worked quite well.
@@OkenWS Yes, I'm one of those properties. 90's built estate and the 2 neighbours to the right of me drain into a line that runs 1.5m from the back of my house right across the back taking my soil stack and a gully then connects to the neighbour on the left and runs down the side access of my house, picking up another stack and gulley from me and then out down my drive, to a chamber on my neighbours drive. So I think I'm responsible for about 2x 1m lengths of pipe. The rest is the water companies problem 😆
Missed your videos mate and good to see Sherlock duck hasn't flown south for the winter. Loved the "we don't do part 2's" 😂
Time for the new pressure to start playing whack a mole on the rest of that pipe 🤣
Wow that’s a mess to have to fix. Maybe they need to bypass it all with outside piping? Good job getting the repair done.

Makes me appreciate having my own seperate supply in plastic pipe! I wouldn't want to have the forthcoming problems of those eight houses. 🚣
Excellent - what a nightmare of a supply arrangement.😳
This channel is so entertaining! Thanks for cheering me up and you do such a great job. How much does the Duck get paid?
From the state of that pipe, looks like you have 7 more potential customers.
Nice work 😊
That could of been a lot worse than it was, I got stressed out watching it. Good work guys
That was a tough one ~ well done guys 👍🏻
Great work

Love the videos. Thought you have to insulate the pipes entering the property especially at the depth.
Hope your doing well buddy. Missing Ur vids ❤
Great video, the duck is on top form, nice editing 😂👌

What a mess of a system. You guys earned your pounds that day.
Duck makes quick work of broken pipes
Next door will be wondering why their pressure has dropped now 😂
I hope you paid for that window you broke jumping through 😊
So what would happen of houses 2-7 refused to pay their water rates?

Where are you based mate ?
I may have a few clients for you 🤙🏻
What a nightmare
If one was bad, now that you've replaced the pipe, the rest are goung to pop very very soon.
More downstream pressure, that pipe will be popping all over the place.
From his commentary, it seem that he warned the residents that the pipe should be fully replaced, so now they know, whether they do the repair or not.
I don't know what the water board dont just replace the pipe externally and call it a day
8 house and no meter ?????? how is that even possible
the water wasted every year must be huge in the UK ?
Every year, roughly 23% of the uk water is lost through leaks 🤯
@@OriginalLeakDetective Damn that a lot ! I thought France (where I'm from) was better but we lose around 20% of our water the same way...
No windows were harmed in the making of this repair. 🚷. Have a top week chap.
