@@MP-vf8qz By the time you get the crown you should have high level skills at everything. The best stone for the crown is Ritual since you can use it at will by equipping/unequipping the crown.
Three minor tweaks to your potions to add useful extra effects: -add lavender to that health potion and it also fortifies conjuration -add wheat to that fortify destruction potion and it also heals you -add mora tapinella to that paralysis poison and it adds lingering damage over time that stacks with itself(great for dragons, they continue taking damage while flying out of range)
Im working on putting together a list of ingredients to grow on your farm that gives you a good mix of potions for enduring survival mode, ingredients that work for several different potions/poisons get highest priority. I figure having health potions that also increase combat effectiveness are better than either effect alone.
Another one you can add to that paralysis poison is scathecraw instead or mora tapinella. It does the exact same thing, but i've found it much easier to gather scathecraw, seeing as it is literally all over Raven Rock.
a little tip for anyone watching this video. If you use a River Betty in any potion, all of the effects will have a multiplier of 2.5x whereas a deathbell will have a 1.5x multiplier. Using both in one potion will not make it 4 times stronger it will just take the River Betty’s 2.5x multiplier instead.
of course, but giants toe can be hard to get early on in large quantities where creep cluster and wheat are pretty easy to get a hold there are a number of ways to go about getting giants toes in large quantities without spending tones of money, but all of them require killing giants which can be very hard to do early game in large quantities though if your like me the last of the crafting skills you increase in alchemy and you just store away massive quantities of alchemy ingredients then you pound out hundreds of power potions at once with max enchanted alchemy gear each piece having a 25% buff to get 100 alchemy in a much shorter span of time than normal
Tip for harvesting butterflies/insects, use a shout to take them down, I recommend clear skies (unlocked early in main questline) as it has a 4 sec cooldown and won't push the ingredients too far
To make an even better one handed potion Canis root Juniper barries Hanging moss. Its both a one handed and achery potion for much less inventory space.
One thing most people tend to forget is that if you have the aetherial crown you can stack the guardian stones, lover stone, and the well rested bonus to get 45% more XP gain and if your a necromage vampire your going to have a 55.75% boost to your XP gain as necromage does effect standing stones and the well rested bonus despite it not appearing to change in value
just make sure lover stone is on the crown and you don't have it equipped before sleeping you can do this with any of the guardian stones but if you have ancient knowledge you get an extra 15% for smithing
I can't believe you didn't have this potion in your money ones, Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinella & Scaly Pholiota. with my alchemy at 100 and most of the perks and a 12% alchemy circlet its worth over 1700 gold and also has the benefit of all the ingredients can be grown in a greenhouse. also provides massive amounts of exp. i tend to only use potions that i can grow the ingredients for but there are a few exceptions. Great video though :)
Not a bad potion but do keep in mind that the ones I showed off were with no perks, nor any enchanted gear. With the perks and gear the profit potions would be more than double value. The greenhouse point is a very good one though, I always felt I was under-utilising my house whenever I built one so that's a good way to make proper use of it all.
@@BADCompanySarge yeah, but the potion i mentioned has a base value of at least 300 ish even with no perks or even levels into alchemy, also with no enchanted gear. i usually start a new save by going with pickpocket and earning some easy early game cash and use that to get my house going and get the hall and then the greenhouse and garden, i plant 10 Mora, and 6 each of the Scaly and Creep Clusters, with that i can sleep for 3 days and harvest 30 of each ingredient, and proceed to make 30 potions, by the time i hit lvl 100 in alchemy i have a few hundred potions to sell and i usually go down the road to falkreath and sell to the general merchant and clear him out then the rest to the alchemy shop, yeah i may not get all that money but i do get a bunch of levels in speech. then i can plant a bunch of plants that allow me to craft my healing, invisibility, paralysis and other poisons etc, i like to play a thief/assassin that uses mainly poisons and stealth to kill, even now i have barely any perks/levels in archery or 1 handed but i still kill super easily lol
I only consistently use regeneration potions for buffs along with any other potion that has a duration of 300 seconds because 60 seconds is not enough which is why I advise people to go and use the skill controlled alchemy duration mod which increases the duration of potions based on the players skill in alchemy as it reduces a lot of the tedium that comes with using alchemy for buffs it doesn't affect anything else like the value of potions either so its a great mod for doing what it says on the box
@@craigslitzer4857 not to mention make a god like character. Also do over 6000 poison damage if you get the jarrin root from the dark brotherhood quest line
7:00 To clarify the best poison in the game is made with Jarrin Root, but you can only make one legit. The poison showed is very good though and its fairly easy to make. I do like Jarrin Root a lot. Who doesn't want to yeet a dragon out of being alive.
Steal the jarrin root from astrid, use it with blister mushroom+ human flesh for getting all the effects, then go talk to astrid and she gives you another one. Im going to go try to duplicate it today to see if it works.
Your mention of boar tusk + wheat + hanging moss reminded me of the correct ingredients, it was the most valuable potion I discovered, after the old new finally fixed unofficial patch that nerfed Salmon Roe. I was standing in raven rock and trying all kinds of things after gathering all kinds of ingredients for hrs(this was long before it was made public. As in even before SE came out as I recall), and I along with abusing the wiki and testing back and forth with all the ingredients I had gathered(basically all of them, except jarrin root) - I finally figured out the new most expensive potion(I needed it for my new character runs, where I was testing things out in terms of lvling speed for reference. As we were preparing to have a LAN face-off race, where we all started at the same time and timed who got the main quests first, fought the ebony warrior first, reached lvl 100 first, maxed out all skills first. Along with a list of other achievements). Spoiler alert, I won most of them, if you disclude the exploit runs - Which were banned in our main run. After which were the challenge runs, where I won the knife challenge(who can first beat Alduin with a kitchen knife and dragonrend. Time bonus for every stage you clear with just a knife(7.5% of your total time for each stage). Exploits weren't allowed, but enchanting was - However taking time to max out enchanting takes way longer than actually just clearing the game. It was however legendary, so one had to figure out the minimum damage to deal with certain stages). Main point I was trying to figure out, was the fastest way to lvl alchemy without exploits. So that I could use the gold from potions to speed lvl skills, using the speech skill tree to sell anything to any merchant. Which you ofc also use your potions to lvl to 50 so you can do that(Windhelm). At any rate, a few other options are: Boar Tusk, Large Antlers, Trama root. A boosted slow, and boosted fortify stamina potion/poison. Boar Tusk, Wheat, Swamp Fungal Pod. Boar Tusk, Yellow Flower, Large Antlers(pretty high yield. Sadly wastes its boost to slow however). Boar Tusk, Hanging Moss, Glow Dust/Human Heart(The Human Heart variant is particularly strong. Mostly because it also tags the Frenzy on Boar Tusk). PS. Notice I forgot to mention the original potion: Boar Tusk, Torchbug Thorax, Wheat.
I tend to use hanging moss, blue mountain flower and anything with fortify one handed to level up because these ingredients are super easy to come across in large quantities without much trouble and if you run out of fortify one handed ingredients you can use restore stamina and damage magic effects instead for not as good but still worth while power potions
Best leveling and selling potion is damage magicka regen using blue mountain flower and hanging moss/chicken eggs/ nightshade, super cheap, quick and easy potion to make and has a value of between 400-600 gold, that Salmon Roe Nordic barnicles and garlic is too hard to make, plus vendors don’t have enough coin to buy it without wasting gold, so I like lots of damage mag regen potions so I can always bleed every merchant dry
Red mountain flower + Jazzbay grapes + Fire salts = The ultimate magic cocktail. Fire salts is conjurable at the atronach forge using Salt Pile + Ruby + Any Soul Gem
Never used to touch any crafting. Now before I enchant any endgame gear, I level Alchemy and Enchanting to 100. Make an enchanting potion, make a beginner's set of alchemy gear, another potion, another set of crafter's gear (alchemy and smithing around 126%), then I'll enchant my endgame gear real early in levels with one last enchanting potion. Level 35 and I was able to instantly become an ultimate non-combat mage (4 free schools with 2 sets of no-armor gear), now just working on sneak and one handed to make a powerful illusory assassin.
The numbers for others may turn out differently to mine, as I play more or less Enairim (minus Summer/Wintermyst, using everything else), but it lets you make such strong gear for any build really early on if you power level those two straight out.
hey man, thanks for the vídeo, i will be using a couple of these potions on the future. there's a potion i like to use to make some money (mora tapinella+scaly pholiota+creep cluster), i like this one because it's easy to farm and are all ingredients you can plant on you heartfire house, so it's kinda like having a money farm.
Not sure if this outvalues the salmon roe potion you have but if not then it's pretty close. I use this for the later levels: Creep Cluster, Wheat, Giants Toe. Easy enough to farm all of these near Windhelm and you can buy any missing toes off alchemists for a few batches.
I have realized that the salmon roe potion is the easiest. What you can do, is go to Arcadias cauldron,Buy alchemy training, then make the potion and sell it to her then rinse and repeat. Like this youll level Alchemy and speech at the same time(I know this comment is a bit late)
So I find that fortify regeneration potions are typically the best to use regularly as they last for 300 seconds meaning you need to use them far less often when going through dungeons.
mix imp stool, human flesh, and something with damage health over time and you get a very powerful poison that causes paralysis, instant damage, and damage over time which is amazingly powerful its a shame human flesh is so rare in skyrim because this poison is super powerful only being rivaled by poisons made with Jarren root which you only get one of in the entire game which is used for a quest in the dark brotherhood
@@BADCompanySarge I max my speech out and get the perks that let me invest and increase the shop's gold limit (Investing also increases the shops gold) and make my money pots.
Blue mountain flower + blue butterfly wing + giant's toe has barely less value than the giant's toe potion you mentioned but the ingredients are easier to get. (About 2 to 5 gold less during levelling, but they are equal value at 100 alchemy)
Why does no one ever talk about blue mountain flower and nightshade? Easy to grow and produce a lot of at once. Plus it’s great for ravaging Magika. Add a chicken egg and we in business with damaging stamina. I personally sell the shade and blue and keep the one with eggs.
Get yourself a homestead and build a garden or even better a green house, and grow Scaly pholiota, dragon’s tongue, fly amanita. They make a potion much more valuable than the salmon roe one.
Thanks for the Guide... Easy to listen & follow and the comment section is full of *Hints, Tips&Tricks* too left by others.. best guide to *Potion Creation* I've seen yet, great job Thanks for making the experience so much easier to *Understand/Learn* I've a list the length of my arm wrote down for powerfull potions I can make on my new build!
My early game grind is Blue Mountain Flower, Hanging Moss, Lavender. Can loot a ton of hanging moss in solitude catacombs, says steal but nobody to catch you. Lavender is all around whiterun. And blue mountain flowers are everywhere. Sells for a lot and gives a ton of xp, and I can make like 70 of them in first hour or 2 of play.
What race would you make him? A skinny Nord maybe? Lately I've been making all my characters Bretons but I feel like that wouldn't fit with the build...
glad to see some more varieties in here than just wheat/creep/toe. I'd rather avoid straight up exploits like attacking/reloading merchants for this, and I already have a ton of random nonsense cluttering my alchemy area.
It's easy, though time consuming, to get Giant's Toes even at level 1. Buy all the arrows you can find and attack and lead the four giants (2 north and 2 south) one at a time to the western watch tower (kill off all mudcrabs first!) Stand inside and pelt them with arrows until they die. The loot will more than make up for what you payed for the arrows. The giants will respawn in 10 in-game days.
if you're one of the not-so-greenhorn players you can mush in some troll fat with that two handed recipe for some poison resistance... aside of being the Falmer delving alternative it will fetch a much better price in the market. great if your running the hunter born mod or something elce that affects the trolls loot drops.
Mr. Goat123 i would love to see that like a mysterious mage herbalist build or an assassin that coats their weapon in poisons or puts poison in an enemies pocket
For Selling Price and Giant's Toe, I believe the best profit is Giant's Toe + Bear Claw + Hanging Moss... With +potion % items I have gotten this up to over 4,000 gp sell value each.
Best buff potion in the game hawk beak, snow berries, anything with resist fire effect and you got yourself a potion that increases fire, frost, and shock resistance in one go and if your good enough at alchemy getting those effects to 80% is rather easy granting you maximum resistance in those elements which can be very useful when going up against mages and dragons especially hagravens curse those fire balls early game
Stupid valuable leveling potion.... Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinalla and Scaly Pholiata makes a great fortify carry weight potion that is high value to sell even at level 1 and no Alchemy skills!
best place to look for deathbells is the swamp around Morthal just casually going through there I've gathered nearly 40 and I didn't even grab all of em that I saw
I like to play Skyrim without glitches as I think that crushes the challenge and progression. So I don’t agree with abusing the fortify alchemy/enchanting/restoration loop - but I do think that a reasonable Dova would use fortify enchanting potions and enhance alchemy enchanting to max enchanting and doing so would not constitute a game-breaking glitch. Using this method, I increased fortify enchanting potions from 25% to 32%… this translated to a bow damage enchantment boost increase from 45% to 47% 😂
I'm kinda of in a similar mindset there. All fine with stacking Alchemy and Enchanting to increase the buff, but as soon as Restoration gets thrown in to crafting I'm out
I have modded my game pretty extensively, am playing SE with all the DLCs. After my mods I am no longer seeing Salmon Roe drop. Do you know of certain mods that cancel out Salmon Roe?
*Support Potions* Glowing mushroom and Blisterwort - Fortify Smithing Blue butterfly wing and Snow Berries - Fortify Enchanting Hanging moss and Rock warbler egg - Fortify One Handed Dragons tongue and Flying aminita - Fortifiy two handed and resistance to fire Elves ear and Juniper berries - Foritify Marksman Nightshade and Glowing mushroom - Fortify destruction -----
I'm playing on Special Edition and for some reason i can't make fortify smithing potions, Blisterwort and Glowing Mushrroms just fail and don't produce anything, same thing with the other smithing ingredients like sabre cat tooth and spriggan sap
Are fortify potions stackable? Let's say I have 2 fortify 24 health potions, will using both fortify me by 48 points? I heard something about identical potions not stacking, so what about fortify health 24 and fortify health 50, will those stack since the numbers aren't identical?

mix imp stool, human flesh, and something with damage health over time and you get a very powerful poison that causes paralysis, instant damage, and damage over time which is amazingly powerful its a shame human flesh is so rare in skyrim because this poison is super powerful only being rivaled by poisons made with Jarren root which you only get one of in the entire game which is used for a quest in the dark brotherhood
never mind he got it
Huge Help Thank you so much for uploading and making this.
Glad it helped!
Bartering potions are also useful, butterfly wings and tundra cotton and or dragons tongue
I rarely find merchants with enough gold to buy all my stuff as it is :P
@@BADCompanySarge I max my speech out and get the perks that let me invest and increase the shop's gold limit (Investing also increases the shops gold) and make my money pots.
@@BADCompanySarge I find it helpful for when I am buying training and then selling the potions back to recoup my money.
Blue mountain flower + blue butterfly wing + giant's toe has barely less value than the giant's toe potion you mentioned but the ingredients are easier to get. (About 2 to 5 gold less during levelling, but they are equal value at 100 alchemy)
Wow I wish I had this video when I first started playing! This is awesome and thanks for the videos Sarge!
Glad it's at least of some help now. Better late than never.
Why does no one ever talk about blue mountain flower and nightshade? Easy to grow and produce a lot of at once. Plus it’s great for ravaging Magika. Add a chicken egg and we in business with damaging stamina. I personally sell the shade and blue and keep the one with eggs.
Sounds like solid potion choices
Get yourself a homestead and build a garden or even better a green house, and grow Scaly pholiota, dragon’s tongue, fly amanita. They make a potion much more valuable than the salmon roe one.
Great video man! It's useful and straight to the point!
I always try to skip filler on my content, no point in wasting too much of peoples time.
Glad it helped!
It's such a great potion for that quick easy crafting
Dude I couldn't figure out how to make paralysis poison thank you so much!
Perfect for my "goblin slayer" manga build.
Riften guard helm fur armor leather boots and gauntlets. Light armor block one hand and alchemy.
Goblin Slayer makes me think of Troll 2
What race would you make him? A skinny Nord maybe? Lately I've been making all my characters Bretons but I feel like that wouldn't fit with the build...
What I use to level & make gold. Mora tapinella, scaly pholiota, and creep cluster.
Best poison for me is deathbell skeeter tail and giants lichen trust me you will love this poison
glad to see some more varieties in here than just wheat/creep/toe. I'd rather avoid straight up exploits like attacking/reloading merchants for this, and I already have a ton of random nonsense cluttering my alchemy area.
chared skeever hide can be used to create a potion that restores health and stamina
You be scrollin on my skyrim til I'm elder
The most expensive potion is actually nordic barnacle + salmon roe + garlic.
Thank you very much for the information about Skyrim alchemy recipes Kind sir.😀
Happy to have helped out
I did a 1 punch man build with alchemy and I was able to kill everything because my gloves had a few billion % added to my melee
Ah yeah, Alchemy/Enchanting loop can make any play style overpowered.
With the restoration loop, it gets up to several hundred thousand or more times stronger. It can get so high it goes into the negatives
I wrote a guide to potions /poisons using this vid :)
Glad to hear it was helpful
Do a best Alchemist build
Mr. Goat123 i would love to see that like a mysterious mage herbalist build or an assassin that coats their weapon in poisons or puts poison in an enemies pocket
Mr. Goat123 I'll third that
Maybe one day
BADCompanySarge Aye I'm happy as long as it's done one day.
Was there ever one done?
i didnt know any of these, thanks im going to use them all
Happy to help!
I've been playing Skyrim for over a decade and have never once invested in alchemy. Hopefully today I can change that.
Hope you have fun with it
For Selling Price and Giant's Toe, I believe the best profit is Giant's Toe + Bear Claw + Hanging Moss...
Where do you hawk beak? I've never seen it
Great video! easily understood and very helpful
Glad it helped!
I use a giants toe and wheat and its over 1000 value
Boar Tusk - Garlic - Hanging Moss.
River Betty - Deathbell - Giant Lichen.
Enjoy.
The video was very good . It really helped to me thanks !!
Glad to hear that!
Subbed and turned on notifications
Thanks!
Stupid valuable leveling potion.... Creep Cluster, Mora Tapinalla and Scaly Pholiata makes a great fortify carry weight potion that is high value to sell even at level 1 and no Alchemy skills!
Charred skeever hide + mudcrab chittn = restore stamina, cure disease, and resist poison. Just came across it by accident
Great vid! A lot of good info and easy vid to maneuver. New sub!👍
Glad it was helpful for you :)
You can replace river Betty with salt for slow!
For some reason does that argonian character of yours look very well done. Is he going to appear in a build of yours?
He may do, I haven't fully decided yet (plus I can't remember if I deleted that save file or not)
@@BADCompanySarge I gave you 4 years to fully decide. Where's the build, Sargeman? 😁
@@Leto85 At this point the save file must be deleted
best place to look for deathbells is the swamp around Morthal just casually going through there I've gathered nearly 40 and I didn't even grab all of em that I saw
Morthal is so great for poisons, a lot of my alchemist characters have taken up residence in the hold
great job should do an advanced version
I like to play Skyrim without glitches as I think that crushes the challenge and progression. So I don’t agree with abusing the fortify alchemy/enchanting/restoration loop - but I do think that a reasonable Dova would use fortify enchanting potions and enhance alchemy enchanting to max enchanting and doing so would not constitute a game-breaking glitch. Using this method, I increased fortify enchanting potions from 25% to 32%… this translated to a bow damage enchantment boost increase from 45% to 47% 😂
I'm kinda of in a similar mindset there. All fine with stacking Alchemy and Enchanting to increase the buff, but as soon as Restoration gets thrown in to crafting I'm out
Straight to the point, concise and with timestamps...
Is.., is this even legal?
Nope, I'm breaking all the laws.
ALL OF THEM
thanks man this helped a lot
Glad it helped
This video is going to help a lot thanks
No worries
Great list of potions. It’s a shame we only get a fraction of the value, though, if we neglect speech and don’t wear any price-buffing gear.
U can wear a falmer helmet and any other helmet together for extra enchanting of alchemy
Bear claws
Chicken eggs
Samon roe
I have modded my game pretty extensively, am playing SE with all the DLCs. After my mods I am no longer seeing Salmon Roe drop. Do you know of certain mods that cancel out Salmon Roe?
*Support Potions*
Glowing mushroom and Blisterwort - Fortify Smithing
Blue butterfly wing and Snow Berries - Fortify Enchanting
Hanging moss and Rock warbler egg - Fortify One Handed
Dragons tongue and Flying aminita - Fortifiy two handed and resistance to fire
Elves ear and Juniper berries - Foritify Marksman
Nightshade and Glowing mushroom - Fortify destruction
-----
A good selection there
This is why you're the GOAT 🐐
Thanks!
I'm playing on Special Edition and for some reason i can't make fortify smithing potions, Blisterwort and Glowing Mushrroms just fail and don't produce anything, same thing with the other smithing ingredients like sabre cat tooth and spriggan sap
I've had a quick google and not been able to find anything on this. All I can do is wish you luck on it clearing up and fixing itself somehow
Are fortify potions stackable? Let's say I have 2 fortify 24 health potions, will using both fortify me by 48 points? I heard something about identical potions not stacking, so what about fortify health 24 and fortify health 50, will those stack since the numbers aren't identical?
The fortify effect won't stack, but the bigger of the two should replace it
Finally did the restoration loop earlier on, but it didn’t seem to improve the weapon stats any.
I never bother with the restoration loop, standard crafting makes you more than strong another to easily beat anything in the game
@@BADCompanySarge Never knew that. That’s cool.
Thank god youtube's a thing.
I had NO idea alchemy was so complex ._.° ° ° lmao
Once you've got a few recipes learned should be easy enough to keep going.
Even I've gone back to this video recently to check a few recipes that I forgot about
@@BADCompanySarge I forgot to add the following
Thank you very much for this video and all of the others I found in your channel! ! !
I'm following your Crafted Items Only challenge and I am thinking about doing a similar thing myself...
That or just go survival mode only lol
You don’t need waterfalls to collect roe. If you shoot a salmon with an arrow, it’ll yield roe anywhere.
That's quite interesting. Makes archery even more useful
Flames works too, anything that attacks them. Kind of like those damn Solitude birds.
Jarrin Root makes the best poisons in the game
Shame it isn't just lying around everywhere
@@BADCompanySarge this is very much true
how many water falls do you see salmon at that all i want to know i need that salmon roe lol but the other power potions are good to just that salmon roe and the nordic barnicle and garlic is a super power potion
Not really sure of an exact count but the waterfall just outside of Riverwood is where I normally go for mine. It's not a potion you tend to make in bulk, instead it's more of that big ticket item.
Can you stack same type of effects? Like enchanter's elixir and pot of enchanting
Don't think so, pretty sure it will just take the highest effect from them
If you have dawn guard which you really should you can find a decent amount of human flesh in volkahar castle
Does the Human Flesh respawn in there?
@@BADCompanySarge yes, every 15 in-game days (by cell reset, so make sure you don't visit the instance before the 15 days had passed)
Not sure if I'm tool low level, doing something wrong, or the version of the game (currently Skyrim SE with latest patches), but I don't get the potions you get when doing any of these ingredients! Blue mountain flower has a second effect of damage health for me. The garlic, juniper berries, and salt pile produced no potion instead of potion of regenerate health. What's going on?
Are you using any mods?
@@BADCompanySarge shoot, you are right! I am using a modlist that has 'complete alchemy and cooking overhaul'! Guess I'll look through there and see what I'm doing wrong. Sorry to bother!
Glow dust, wisps wrapping And ectoplasma are better to use for fortify destruction potion. Never use nightshade because it will add poison to it and will damage the player unless you have purity perk in alchemy. Without it you can kill yourself accidentally if the players health is too low.
Very ghostly ingredients
