Arin criticizing the internet and twitter by talking about how it can affect children was so heart breaking to hear him speak so passionately about.
It’s true. Social media is an addiction because they make it that way- the want to keep scrolling through the feed to know what comes next or how many likes you get on a post or comment, or even the want to make a post or comment. It’s designed to be addicting and the people on it, make it worse by being total asshats.

To the social media stuff: I'm hoping that this latest generation figures out we are all people and fallible so we stop judging people's whole self on the mistakes of a moment in action or word. Also, I hope they learn that experts in one subject can be wrong both in that subject and others. We need to strive to judge each thought or proposal on it's own merit and allow ourselves and other to make mistakes and change our minds.
I wholly agree with that sentiment, but sadly not all people will learn this. It is in human nature to idealize a person or group as "the other." Tribalism man. Comes in different shapes/colors and operates in many levels of society down to the individual. This episode hit prettt hard 😅 I don't think about this stuff too often because I end up getting all existential and deep, having that thousand yard stare.

Why are there so many comments like this? Literally nothing they ever say gives off any reason to think the show is ending
@@LooseCo it's just our foreshadowing senses tingling. Any time we perceive a pattern our instincts kick in and we belive the end is near.
@@LooseCo human brains are hardwired to find patterns. We see something happening repeatedly and make a pattern to explain it, whether or not it actually exists. We hear Dan talk about the end of game grumps in the past several episodes and our brains say this is happening because the end is coming, even if the end isn’t going to be coming for another several years.
Also yeah, I agree that these times are the perfect time for existential “the end will come” thoughts to happen, and that’s *most likely* what’s happening here. I hope.

I had it stuck in my head all day at work today! Imagine my surprise when it showed up 😂
One of the scariest things for me is that, even when you don't engage in social media, you're still surrounded by those who do, and many of them, like Arin says, are trained to either go all one way or all the other, without any nuance. It's difficult to talk to anyone when no one is willing to consider shades of gray.
First Arin mentions Ethan, then Dan mentions Let's Game It Out.

I'm especially happy for Let's Game It Out because Josh has talked a lot about how Game Grumps inspired him to make his own channel and it evolved from there.
They’ve done videos with Ethan in the past. And some of their Among Us videos were with him.
My jaw literally dropped when I heard Dan mention Josh. One of my favorite channels.

Arin’s thoughts on “extreme positivity” and “extreme negativity” at 32:45 basically sum up the themes of Danganronpa 1,2 and the sequel/prequel anime combined

I'll be honest, I never thought Arin would make it this far in the game. This is the last stage before he has to "TAKE THIS" with the most health and still not understanding how leveling works.

@@mr.redguard6702 Yeah watching him go through this episode, not using team blast really highlights that. It's like the shield in zelda all over again.
He understands that he needs to collect the orbs to level up, and that leveling up makes him stronger, which is way more than he understood during the Sonic play through. He just doesn't know exactly how it affects things, but I think he's learned enough to finish the game.
I'm still pretty confident that he won't be able to beat Chaotix and will just give up.
He was walking over checkpoints with fully leveled characters early on this episode.
Next episode we'll probably get to hear more of Arins "take this"

In his defence, that first like 10 minutes he was Absolutely kicking ass (despite still ignoring the TeamBlast)
He goes back and forth from "surprisingly great at this game" to "constantly getting hurt in the same exact way over and over again by the helmet hammer guy and never using hover outside of the fans even though it would have saved his life 3 times in this episode alone" at an alarming rate

@@isdel9474 I know you can't, but in this episode alone he falls when playing as Omega with a chance to glide to safety and never takes it. I'm not trying to complain, I just hurt for him. Feel like he'd have a much easier time if he knew he could HOLD B button to grind on rails and that hover is useful for skipping past a lot of the stuff he finds annoying (rightfully so)
Arin talking about social media robbing people of their dignity while simultaneously inflicting countless Sonic-related indignities upon himself for that UA-cam money.
With how much they rip on Omega, i'm curious of their reaction to his "Well, that's a load off my back." line.

As a Gen Z introvert, I've grown up with the internet, and it hasn't affected me much beyond entertainment and news. I think extroverts suffer from it more because they feed off social interaction. People just need to teach themselves when _they_ should unplug, and not chase something that brings them pain.
It's not the internet that's the problem. It's humanity. It's not creating evil. It's bringing out evil that's already there.

How did we go from goof troop to a deep introspective look at humanity
Because Arin, for all his goofball antics, can actually be quite insightful (you don't start and run three companies by being an idiot, afterall).
Dan, if I recall, actually went to college for Advertising, so he can add his two cents to Arin's introspection as he literally knows how the machine works.
When these two get started on a topic, they usually go all in. See episode 19 of wind waker for an example.

True, it also can't differentiate at all. I love metal music but have a particular taste, but the algorithm will constantly recommend bands because they are "metal" bands even though i've clicked "not interested" on that band's videos hundreds of times over months. The algorithm in it's infinite wisdom can't fathom that i could like deftones and not like marilyn manson lol

As a kid who grew up with social media, I’m kind of glad I have so much anxiety about socializing, because I’m sure it saved me from a lot of bullshit.
Looking at how others act in a new community and playing it safe with your comments, instead of charging in headfirst is a pretty valuable mindset in such a place.

Not to mention that when you post something on the internet, it's there forever. I'm part of the first generation to have complete access to the beginning of social media. I regret some of the things I've posted, but I also don't delete them because my friends and family can see the progress I've made as a person. Someone who isn't a part of that group could just as easily see my posts from 10+ years ago and think "wow, this guy really believes that" and I'm out of a job. It's quite scary.
