Samin hindi kinaya ng pldt stock router yung devices sa bahay. More than 10 devices connected for school, work and personal use kaya bumili kami 3rd party router, hindi kasi lahat ng device namin nakaka connect sa wifi nun. Ngayon okay na connection namin. Lahat ng devices nakaka connect na din sa net.
Can you make a tutorial video on how to setup those 3rd party router when you want to use one?

it's not really necessary po, routers these days are easy to install. just follow the provided instructions which are very easy to understand naman
Our PLDT Fibr router was recently replaced because our old one (5yrs old) broke down. I noticed that it takes longer for devices to connect to the wifi with the new one (about 30 secs). Sa old one, pag click ng connect, wala pang 5 sec connected na. But its pretty much the same experience in Netflix. Kahit 100mbps connection, it really starts at 480p before going to 1080p resolution at around 5mins.
I connected a 3-pack Wifi Mesh (tplink m4) to our ISP modem-router. My plan is 300mbps but I get as low as 7mbps sometimes. Do I need to buy a high performance router and connect that to my ISP modem-router then connect the Wifi Mesh to the former? HAAAALP

Tip. Pag bibili kayo ng router check nyo and processor and memory. If you use a lot of bandwidth and multiple users buy a router that is at lease dual core also mataas ang ram.
I had a worse converge modem previously. It was a Fiberhome modem that's only capable of 2.4 GHz. It was completely incapable of in-home streaming (streaming PC games on your phone). When I moved house, they replaced it with a newer ZTE modem with both 2.4 and 5GHz bands.
Honestly, if you're gonna game with wired ethernet, being on a better router should make no difference.
My pc is always on a wired connection, regardless if I'm using a third party router or the isp router. Even wired the isp router was still noticeably laggy (and wouldn't let me log on to the game server when I was downloading in the background).
Ang isp provided device ay MODEM (modulator-demodulator) po n mey LAN ports to be connected to routers or computers or switch/hubs.
Sabihan nyo lang yung installer na gawing bridge lang yung modem router na kasama tapos connect nyo na lang sa after market wireless/wired router nyo. Ganun lang ginawa ko dati wala naman problema dun sa nag kabit. At sa recomended router kukunin nyo depende na po yon sa pangangailangan nyo.

Other way is yung new router mo is in AP mode so wifi lang talaga siya and yung main router ng modem mo pa rin yung mag-a-assign ng IP addresses sa devices.
Do you set your modem to bridge when you connect the asus router? Or are we just talking about the Wi-Fi performance of the free ISP modem/router?
that would be the optimal way but I don't since I can't do it (or at least I can't figure out how to do it) using the Converge provided Huwaei modem/router
Wifi 4 or 5 ba yung libreng router? Itong walang hiya na Globe pinalitan yung libreng router namin from 802.11ac 802.11n to “fix” our connection problem.

Good video! I'm a PLDT sub and using their free router which is on the their floor. Can you recommend a WiFi extender that works well with PLDT? The pldt router is on the 3ed floor and I want to wifi to be stable in the ground floor.
Tried out wifi extenders a while back but wasn't impressed, they kept losing the signal and reconnecting them was a pain. This was years back and have not tried them out since.
To improve wifi coverage I recommend a mesh router set up. The Zenwifi from Asus has the best wifi coverage of any router I've tried, ua-cam.com/video/B5of46QQbJg/v-deo.html
There similar mesh routers from Tenda or Tplink and feedback I've heard is good although I have not tried them myself.

based from the things said here. ok pa pala yung Globe ISP ko with Fiberhome modem/router regarding netflix. highres pag open. even i have a slow 30mbps connection.

Mas masusulit ang third party router kung more than 8 users connected siguro, also yung layout ng bahay niyo.
Globe at home din kami. But im currently using a mesh system para abot sa back kitchen at garden.
Also mas masusulit yung speed kapag 5Ghz na signal ang gamit. Hopefully, devices are also capable din to get the signal.

Sabi po ni Converge nung nagpakabit kami two years ago hindi daw po sila nag b-bridge mode. Nag a-allow na po ba sila?
Suffering yung modem/router nila. Wireless N lang yata to. Hindi kami nag g-game pero we watch 4k Netflix, may Synology kami na gamit namin as NAS, Plex server, seedbox, backup server, may mga Docker containers kami running for a few apps and a webserver as a localhost. Dalawa lang kaming gumagamit pero ang pangit ng performance ng internal network namin. Natitiis namin kasi at least nakaka Airdrop kami between our phones, tablets, and computers and sobrang bilis ng Airdrop compared sa file transfers via the network.

@@Poo0fi I didn't set it to bridge mode :) so it's on normal mode now with one lan cable plugged into the router/modem to my third party router
you don't need to have it in bridge mode to use a third party router with it - it would be nice if it were on bridge mode, but it's not necessary

Hi sir, im also a converge subscriber with plan called time-of-day wherein they advertise to get 100mbps during daytime and 200mbps at nightime. Unfortunately, dpa umaabot ng 100mbps ang speedtest result via lan. Then via wifi naman nasa 10-15mbps pang. Sobrang baba, hindi sulit considering i have an upgraded plan. Tagal ng inoobserbahan ng converge ang account ko and they are yet to identify the problem. Kung sakali po b maglagay ako ng 3rd party router, dyu think magiging okay ang connection? Also, anong budget friendly wifi6 router po ang ma re-recommend ninyo? Pwede ba na i match or somewhere close dun result ng speedtest via wifi and router?
I don't think a third party router will help since it will still be getting its connection from your isp router
We have the same Huawei router kasi naka converge din kami. And nagiging problem naman namin is naka direct yung pc ko sa router using lan cable and and problem is pag naglalaro ako ng Valorant bumabagal yung wifi connection ng kapatid. Super bagal to the point na hindi na sya nakakagamit.
Weirdly. Nag lalag yung dota ng partner ko kapag nag you youtube ako. Samantalang naka lan naman sya. Super weird. Pero nag mesh na kami ngayon sa wifi. Nakalan na for our pc set ups.
Sobrang labo lang nun do. Ilang beses kasi na naglag talaga sya sa Dota kapag nag youtube ako sa phone.

Not sure pero after ma-install mo na yung windows sa ssd, automatic na activated na yun kasi linked siya sa device and account mo. I upgraded my laptop din from hdd to nvme ssd, while installing windows ni-reformat ko yung hdd para empty siya and installed windows on my ssd after nun I checked my windows activation, activated na siya.

Some corrections. The correct term for router-modem combo is a gateway. Also, fiber connections are only WAN routers, di kailangan ng modem dun kasi digital signal na yun. Not sure why PH telcos don’t allow consumers to use their own modems or WAN routers. Technically kasi pwede yon.
Edit: OK video overall but I hope you also touched base on the other aspects of networking such as router specs and differences in wifi specs since madaming standards yun. Most ISP gateway devices can actually handle around 50 devices but their wifi specs are outdated or low and there’s alot of ways to address that. And it also depends on the connection type that you have at home, some telcos advertise connection as fiber but if you know stuff, makikita mo VDSL lang pala o kaya cable broadband.

I am also a fan of it ain't broke don't replace it... but sometimes quality of life greatly improves if you change something that is only just barely working :)

Samin from 50-120ms sa ML (using isp router) to 8-12ms stable kahit sa labas ng bahay. Using Asus router btw. Di ako nag sisi sa 7k sa router. haha. Kahit may nag stream na 4k reso sa tv stable parin sa low ping.

One atenna for Rx one for Tx, some antenna are design for multibands. Meaning 2.4 and 5ghz into one antenna for Rx and same with Tx.
Two antenna enhances the range and amount of bandwidth that is wasted due to collision of packets. How much more if you separate the frequencies (2.4 and 5hz) and have a dedicated tuned antenna. In terms of firmware and board logic, no more filters from double/multi band single input antenna.
PLDT modem router 2.4ghz wifi is not good for gaming. lalo na pag may ibang gadgets naka connect.
Goods yung 5ghz wifi pero hina ng signal di aabot sa kabilang kwarto dapat katabi mo yung router. Lah kwenta
u can always use a 5ghz wifi repeater para iextend coverage
