Don't think I'll have a rest after finishing the Corris series..it's right back to work with a fancy new project, with fancy new sponsors, and a fancy new cat..that's a lie..it's the same cat..but you won't want to miss the end of this one!

@@bennihulls6851 he is amazing! Always been the same, his attention to detail never fails to amaze me! We used to take him to Talyllyn as a baby and from a very young age he'd sit for hours in his pushchair just watching everything 😁 he then grew up, found a girl who even agreed to get married at the station🎉 then had 2 daughters who "tolerate" his passion😁

The area on the Talyllyn Railway I've always wanted to model is the Water Point of Ty Dwr that was just recently restored, it's such a unique and interesting spot and the water being taken from a waterfall is such a quaint scene
Timeless location, you could happily swap out models of different eras which is nice
You've converted me. I want to build a narrow gauge Australian railway, lots to choose from, and I don't need space.
A huge benefit is the space thing, it’s amazing how many people were shocked at how small the Corrish layout is when they saw it in person

Literally John, I’ve never had a pile like this, I’ve never had the money to purchase what I want, infact in my normal scale of 5.5mm that I’ve modelled in for years, I only have two steam engines, and one I made myself 😅 so this is so exciting!

Yes, I’ve never had so many kits ready to go, it’s been difficult not building them up already 😅 although it’s a real operation getting things in order, ordering wheelsets, custom made transfers etc ready for each video!
@@GWilliamsonModels i have a similar issue i have 5 weeks till one of the largest model shows in nz and my 009 is just track on foam and postage from the uk takes 4 weeks 😱

You should have no issue finding the Bachmann ‘Talyllyn’ when it arrives, as it’s bachmann USA that are producing it I think?

Looks like a great idea! I recently travelled up to Nant Gwernol for the first time since 2018, its a stunning location and should look great in model form!

Delighted about this. Firstly autumn is a really interesting season to tackle. Have seen a few attempts, but they are often too fluorescent/plasticky for me. Hoping for tonal depth and complexity in browns and yellows and I’m sure you’ll nail it. Also rather happy as the 3 bogie coaches I sold you were originally built for a model of… Nant Gwernol. I completed the lower level (idea to have a slate quarry above) but didn’t do it in autumn or the river. I sold it on (will send an image of it to you) and it may still exist somewhere…. I too am a little worried about the entry geometry into the HS - as an idea could you turn the layout into an L and then have a joint across the boards which is perpendicular to the edge and avoid the reverse curve problem too?
Yes I agree Colin, I don’t think autumn modelling is for the faint hearted, so should be a good challenge. My goal is the seasons still seeing the last of greens aswell as the browns/yellows etc coming in, but leaves on and around the line+platform.
So far, planning the layouts curve seems to work out ok, and it’s lines up nicely with Birds Eye shots. I intially wanted an L shape, but for practicality in the modelling room itself, it needs to be straight. We will see if that works out soon I guess!
Don't forget, when you come to model the Brown Marshalls, that 1 & 2 are 1 ft longer than 3! I will be interested in how you solve these: :)
I decided that until I can get the meridian kits, I’m happy to ignore the slight size difference, as it’s small in 1/76 scale..much bigger things to worry about such as the massive couplings hanging off the end 😂
@@GWilliamsonModels The Meridian kits are for 3, 4 and 5 - you have 4 and 5, and the Westcliff Works ones are also No 3 (according to your narrative, which accords with the Westcliff's comments on NGRMO). My solution was to use the Bachmann coaches, and obtain some brass buffers to suit from LRS. I will send a PM in NGRM with links to my threads!
Loved the Corris series, so really looking forward to this series .... but was it the need to design (and hide from view) a suitable slate waggon catapult which put you off modelling the foot of Alltwyllt incline in dyddiau henen? 🤔
No, it is being modelled present day, so the incline is no longer used, if that’s what you mean?
@@GWilliamsonModelsI was thinking more of the shattered runaways of yore, on the rocks and down in the Nant, plus the surrounding trees. Modern's good (Abergynolwyn was still the top terminus last time I was there) .... so how about just one waggon wheelset, as rusty as they come, stuck up a tree, for old times sake? 🙂

My only question is, this was released on a Thursday, but your videos tend to be realised on a Friday. Is this series being released on a weekly schedule or when your happy it’s ready.

No it was meant to be Friday, but I’ve started teacher training this week, so the schedule went out the window. I plan it to release on Friday at 07:00, however, it seems to change so I have to keep checking that. There we go, see it as a treat this week 😅

How do you scale down from the real thing is it 1 : 1 or just what space you have it has to fit or is there some other way you decide on doing it to make it look correct
So I use the drawings in the book, and use a grid to scale it up. You can see if you’re close if you place models onto it.

Could you do me a track plan ?, obviously would pay you. I am about to start a 009 layout . Ordered loco, wagons and track. Have great modelling skills , but stumped with track plans .
