Awesome video really enjoyed it ! Fast times reference in the beginning , And it's been a long long time since we've heard the monotone " There goes the monorail " And I remember that steam locomotive that you were referring to, they called it the runaway train , The tram that you road on would stop on the track, it seemed as if the train was going to ram the tram , I'm older than you guys so I experience that and the collapsing bridge , thank you !!
With you talking over the tour guide, kind of reminds me of that I love Lucy episode where Lucy gets on the tour bus and keeps talking and finally the tour guide puts the microphone up to her mouth 😁😂 Wow, they've had that flooding scene for so long, that's one thing I remember when I went in 1975 on my School field trip.
I think the OP was saying this in humor siting a funny I Love Lucy episode. Now there are haters jumping on the bandwagon to complain, but the tour guide didnt seem to mind so all the complainers shouldnt either.
That is *NOT* the mechanical shark that was part of the Universal Studio tour in the late 70's. 33:40 I have an excellent, memorable, scary photo of the shark. The teeth are much more pronounced, and it came much closer to the tour bus. It was part of the Ten Commandments tour, where the tour bus parts the sea.
I worked at Universal Studios in my 20s in the 80s! I had keys to just about everything because I was Mobile Security. The Security Cars back then were Dodge Omni's that were pretty loaded up with all the options like Air Conditioning and really good seats. It was my Day Job as an aspiring young actor. I had such a Blast getting paid to drive the Lot with lots of free time to explore.. I hated the Phantom of the Opera set, which was on a Sound Stage that was mine to check when i was working Graveyard Shift! All you would hear when walking through that humongous stage was Creaking and Strange Noises! My heart was racing every time I had to do it!! So many awesome stories from back then!!
Love Once upon a time in Hollywood so cool to see where Leo and the little girl were sitting he asked her what she was reading and she replied “ A Biography of Walt Disney” love that 😊❤️
Its always great to see Adam geek out while doing these types of tours. Also your the guide was probably the best I have seen. If I ever make it there I will for sure book the VIP tour.
I can remember when Universal Studios Tours opened to the public. We went shortly after and I still have the pictures. They had props from the Land of the Giants?” old tv show. And it was during the days where you would dress up to go to places so I’m in my little pink dress with my family. This makes me want to take that VIP tour. Unfortunately, I’m just a poor teacher and I have to really think about that cost Lol. It’s nice to live vicariously through you and this was a great video.
Nice! Always wanted to do the tram tour at least. I remember the Knight Rider episode when Michael and KITT drove all over the backlot and passed a couple of Cylons from Battlestar Galactica. Those were the days...
Well Adam, Sean...what an amazing tour, I thoroughly enjoyed myself again, ..thank you ever so much for the TV ride lol👍 ..it means a heck of alot too me, I'm 64 years old and I grew up watching all the great shows ..and the silly obscure ones also..again thank you, and I so much appreciate your Walk and Talk !! 😉❤️
Brilliant!! I'm from the UK but my Step Mom is from L.A and I first went on the tour in the early 70s came back another couple of times last in 1979 and still have photos I took (One is of the Munsters house) I inherited all the super 8movies from my Dad last year including Disneyland i with the Swiss family Robinson house, the Tikki Tikki room, country bears jamboree ,underwater 2000 leagues under the sea submarine and the cars that were on rails ,thanks for bringing back more great memories Adam , cheers mate ,Max Liverpool😎
Adam, I never knew this VIP tour existed. I remember taking the Universal tour in the 1970’s as a kid. My favorite was the Collapsing Bridge. The Western and little town/ Monster movie set brought back memories of watching The Wolfman, Frankenstein, etc on Saturday afternoons on tv on channel 5 or 9 in SoCal. Like you, I grew up loving old Hollywood movie magic and special effects.
The Backlot tours are amazing and well worth it. We did it back in 1980. Dad was a friend of one of the producers out there, and we had a memorable day. 🙂
Did background work for a few years when I lived in Los Angeles. Always loved the days when the show I was working on was shooting at Universal. And if the set was on the backlot I always made sure to explore during the down times while production was setting up next shots/scenes. So much cool history!
Growing up in the Philippines & watching a lot of American films & show I was in awe (& mildly teary eyed) the first time I went to the tram tour of Universal Studios and seeing the sets & characters that I only saw in the small & big screen. I miss the animatronic King Kong though. I only got to see it once & I remember it's banana breath lol. Enjoyed your video. I highly contemplated doing it the last time I went to Universal but I didn't cause I spent so much on merch!
I loved the collapsing bridge as a kid. It was a pretty good thrill, but the best part was coming around the front afterward and seeing it "rebuild itself" for the next tram.
Hi - This is my first time revisiting the Universal backlot (via your video) since 1973. Much has changed. One of the cool things about the tour in 1973 was that the actors currently working on the set would visit the people taking the Universal backlot tours. Times were different in 1973, much more laid back. My favorite part of the 1973 tour was visiting the set of "Airport" which was released 3 years earlier in 1970. The Psycho house was in much better condition in 1973 than it is today. Universal used to keep everything on their backlot tour cosmetically up to date so that it looked exactly on the tour as it was in the movies. Thank you much for your video, Adam!
I so want to do this tour since I moved back to California. Love that you got together with Daphne , Kitra and Peter. You all made laugh. Great info Adam.
Greetings from Australia 🇦🇺 Happy I got to do both Universal VIP and Warner Brothers VIP.. from your video and recommendation. I think you had more walk around than we did. Love watching your dailys. Cheers Trev
I've been pointing up at the Universal Hilton all week when I drive by and I say hey look, Adam the Woo is staying up there somewhere 🤣 💚 Great vid, as usual. I think maybe having Sean and Adam along upped their tour guide's game. He was already awesome but he knew he was among his fellow film peeps here. Nice. :) ✌️
Adam I can't keep up and I mostly enjoy the back roads exploration anyway. But I just want to say your channel is quirky, entertaining, informative and sometimes profoundly beautiful. As a travel vlog of Americana as it exists in the 21st century it's an amazing chronicle. IMO the entire collection should be stored on permananent media and a copy kept at the Smithsonian, like the original recordings of American folk and blues music made in the early part of the 20th century. Soon that will not be difficult to do.
At the end of Avenue M in the old Western area is where the Winnebago jumps into Park Lake in "The Blues Brothers." The warehouse they crash through is gone, but most of the other buildings on the street are still there and look relatively unchanged from the movie.
Cool tour, I think I'd like to do that come time, or maybe the basic one, that interaction with Doc Brown had me smiling, from start to finish, Lucy was cute too, thanks for the video, I enjoiyed it alot of Hollywood history happened there...
Awesome little tour glad u posted. Also the one area the buildings that floods your friend was correct check out original series hardy boys phantom of the opera, it was used in that in too
I’ve taken the back lot studio tour several times. The first time was back in 1965 or thereabouts when all there was was the studio tour there was no amusement park the last time I took the VIP tour was 2004 and the price was around $200 if I remember correctly. I particularly liked the unrestricted access to the prop house. I still have a picture of the Maltese falcon. The flash flood has been there since the 60s. This brings back many good memories
When I was 9 yrs old back in 1985 my grandparents flew me out to stay with them in Los Angeles for the summer (my first time in LA). They took me to Universal Studios Hollywood and its something I still remember fondly to this day. The subway earthquake/flood part in this video was a Battlestar Galactica experience back in the 80's. You get "captured" by the Cylons and rescued by the good guys. It was an amazing experience for me since I loved that show.
Love the Universal Backlot. Hope to film on someday. Dreams right!! I remember doing the bridge when I was much younger. It is what inspired the bridge at Animal Kingdom during Kilimanjaro Safari.
Sadly this is true. I can't believe the tour guide said that stage 12 was the Phantom stage and that the set was still inside. Parts of Frankenstein and Dracula were filmed is stage 12 but not Phantom of the Opera. Universal claimed that they put the Phantom set in storage before they demolished stage 28 but I don't know if this is true. I can only hope so.
I did the regular backlot tour here years ago. I’m glad they kept the earthquake thing. It’s just classic movie effects! Great vid! I’m a movie nerd so this is just Soo awesome to watch!!
That view at the beginning took me back to our vacation four years ago. We hadn’t planned to go to Universal but decided to squeeze in a day between our San Diego and Disneyland stays. We stayed one night in that Hilton (room 1865) and spent one day at Universal (with express pass) and had a blast! There isn’t as much there as in the Florida resort, but there sure is a lot packed into a small space, the backlot tour is unique, and the City Walk is a great place to spend time.
Adam, Many a long year has gone under the bridge since I last did this tour. The Red Sea parted, the 6 Million Dollar Man training centre. When the tram ride got to Jaws the trams were lower. So it looked like Jaws was going to almost climb in the tram with you. The Quicksand Pit. The Monsters Show and the latest attraction. The doomed Glacier Expedition. As the newspaper add said, " Theres always something happening at Universal. It could be happening to you." Cheers, Chris Perry.
That was a fantastic tour! Such a small group this time which makes it easier to cover more ground. When I toured Abraham Lincoln's home, I was the only person who purchased a ticket for my time slot and got an amazing tour.
I really enjoyed this when I did it a few years ago. Lunch was good, too. I liked that this tour guide knew stuff that you were asking about on the spot.
Angela Lansbury was my favorite actress of all time, I went on this tour back in 2016 and they actually played the Murder She Wrote theme song when we were on the tram
yea what a cool vip tour and so worth it, what there was like 6 people on the tour. And Sean was a great guide. Was hoping for some of the ride line cutting
Hi Adam I really really enjoyed this vlog you get better and better everytime. Your tour guide was great but he did make a mistake Phantom of the Opera was filmed in stage 28 and was demolished in 2014 .I was an extra on Jingle All The Way it was filmed on New York street. It's awesome that the tour takes you places that the regular your dose not go. Thank you from Universal Jamie
I loved seeing the tour thru your eyes Adam. Seeing Bruce the shark was a blast. You got the perfect tour guide too. I’m glad you filled in more little details here and there. Lucy and Doc were hilarious! ❤️🙏🏻👍🥐🌴
NO U R AWESOME! Absolutely loved this video, price was fantastic in relation to what you experienced. THE TOUR GUIDE WAS A GEM, It was just amazing seeing moments from my favorite movies AND favorite TV STAR LUCY BALL. You were in AWE so often, I laughed. BEST VLOG EVER TO ME, ❤️🙏🏽
That is so cool that you got to see the backlight of the universal seal anyway that is so cool to see doc and you Lucy that is so cool and I am so glad that she has so much fun with your friends at the place if you went and I think all the movies that's are so so cool thank you so much for sharing have a great day be safe bro sincerely Suszie
That poor tour guide and the people in that group. He interrupted nonstop. It's like at a concert and that guy is talking non-stop to let everyone he knows everything. 😂😂😂
I know I said the same thing, his big mouth was all over the video, the know it all,I would have requested him to be removed or give me my money back! He was so annoying,if he knows everything then why are you on the tour.
I did the poor persons tour back in 1991 and Hill Valley still looked like the 2015 Hill Valley Set and the original courthouse was still there. At the gate they had K.I.T.T. from Knight Rider and there was a large line of people (especially kids) who took turns sitting in K.I.T.T. and they had a voice actor voice K.I.T.T. to entertain the kids and he sounded almost exactly like William Daniels version. I'm from Texas and even though I've been to Los Angeles several times, I haven't been back for another tour, but from what I see, there is a lot more you can do then back in the early 1990s.
Hey Adam! It’s your VIP tour guide! Thank you so much for taking my tour. You and Sean are awesome!
Hi Sean, you should organise them a SUPER VIP Tour one day. I know you can do it! :)
Had a blast man ! Thanks for taking us to so many great spots
can we request you when we book a tour??
Awesome video really enjoyed it !
Fast times reference in the beginning , And it's been a long long time since we've heard the monotone " There goes the monorail " And I remember that steam locomotive that you were referring to, they called it the runaway train , The tram that you road on would stop on the track, it seemed as if the train was going to ram the tram , I'm older than you guys so I experience that and the collapsing bridge , thank you !!
@@Peajay007 Absolutely!
The fact that Doc Brown recognized who he was talking too. "Join us, shall you" that's awesome
Don’t forget you’re awesome too
I too thought that was awesome
With you talking over the tour guide, kind of reminds me of that I love Lucy episode where Lucy gets on the tour bus and keeps talking and finally the tour guide puts the microphone up to her mouth 😁😂 Wow, they've had that flooding scene for so long, that's one thing I remember when I went in 1975 on my School field trip.
lolol! This made me laugh. I love I Love Lucy.
Obvious that Adam could lead this tour!
Bwahaha😂😹
@@ballbag I think they get that vloggers would be big on attractions like this so they understand
I think the OP was saying this in humor siting a funny I Love Lucy episode. Now there are haters jumping on the bandwagon to complain, but the tour guide didnt seem to mind so all the complainers shouldnt either.
Doc quoted Adam’s catch phrase. That’s epic! This is so amazing.
I love how the VIP bus driver made sure you guys got all your shots and even backed up a few times.
This does not happen for us regular folk, I think it's because he's a UA-camer
That is *NOT* the mechanical shark that was part of the Universal Studio tour in the late 70's. 33:40
I have an excellent, memorable, scary photo of the shark. The teeth are much more pronounced, and it came much closer to the tour bus.

You're the most impressive knowledgeable Hollywood historian. Your love shines through.

The guy playing Doc is great! He sounds like he's doing an impression of Kevin Pollak doing an impression of Doc Brown lol.
Loved Doc Brown quoting your catch phrase to you!
One of the best videos I've seen in many a while, and when Doc said 'shall you?' - great stuff!
Its always a real pleasure to watch your videos my friend. 10/10 and seeing Sean to.
So cool!!!! This is my fave channel. My HS class loves watching your videos. So neat to travel to places so far away from little East coast 🇨🇦.

I loved the collapsing bridge as a kid. It was a pretty good thrill, but the best part was coming around the front afterward and seeing it "rebuild itself" for the next tram.
Hell yes. You just took me back to my childhood!
thanks for warner and universal tours... i definitely want to go to universal now. looking @ tickets...

This is fantastic! So many cool things in the backlot! That monster mural is INCREDIBLE
Absolutely incredible video. Thanks Adam.
This may be my new favorite TDW. Excellent from start to finish.
Absolutely fabulous video Adam, loved the tour. Something I will never get to see in person,,,ty for bringing it to me.....😀💜
Love this Tour! Lucy, looked just like Lucille Ball!! 👀You always Have a Great Time!! where ever you Tour, Lots of Fun and Laughs!!! Thanks Again!! 👏

This is a cool video! Adam you should of been an actor. I can see how happy you are in California. Looking forward to your next vlog!
When I was 9 yrs old back in 1985 my grandparents flew me out to stay with them in Los Angeles for the summer (my first time in LA). They took me to Universal Studios Hollywood and its something I still remember fondly to this day. 15 years we still love you and what you do LonnieRay
Adam you have the best videos ever .Thank You
I love everything about this tour. It was so amazing. Thanks again Adam for a great video.
Love the Universal Backlot. Hope to film on someday. Dreams right!! I remember doing the bridge when I was much younger. It is what inspired the bridge at Animal Kingdom during Kilimanjaro Safari.
Bringing back memories 1984 ,amazing love your video
The Phantom of the Opera Stage 28 was actually behind where the Transformers building is now. It was demolished in 2014.
What a tremendous value! This was awesome. Thanks Adam!
Hey Adam! That’s awesome to see Sean, too. 👍 I like when you guys are together.

Thank you sooo much for this…loved it….but then I love all your vlogs!!!!
This was definitely a better back lot tour than your other ones. Way cool.
Once Upon a Time in Hollywood is such an epic movie...how neat to stand on that porch.
Adam, Many a long year has gone under the bridge since I last did this tour. The Red Sea parted, the 6 Million Dollar Man training centre. When the tram ride got to Jaws the trams were lower. Been there twice, neither time did I get to go to six points western sets, thanks for posting, this was a very good tour !
