    Evelyns family tried to find her. It was the police who believed the letter and refused to file a missing persons report. Her nephew sent his DNA in to the public database trying to locate his aunt and cousin hoping they were still alive. Please don’t make Evelyn’s family look bad. Other content creators actually have more detailed info like Heavy Case Files. Not trying to deter anyone from this page. It’s just so ppl know the truth.

    • @nikitadondiva
      @nikitadondiva 3 роки тому +91

      They didn’t. They tried to report her missing but the police refused to accept it because of the letter. If you watch Heavy Case Files they go into detail about how the family tried to find her. It was because the nephew (who never even met his aunt) was looking for his aunt and cousin assuming they were alive and he submitted his DNA to a public database only finding random distant cousins. A pregnant hispanic teen? They cops weren’t breaking their necks to find her. Luis got married and had kids and his neighbours were shocked to find out he killed his pregnant girlfriend years before. They knew him as a nice helpful neighbour. Evelyn’s family lost almost all pictures of her in a house fire. The town left flowers and teddy bears at her grave for years. It’s actually a sad but touching story.

      @@cara9648 I’m realizing how lazy and definitely racist/sexist/prejudiced the cops were back then. They really did the least amount of work possible. You can tell they didn’t value a lot of ppls lives. If they thought you were a “loose woman”; transient; addict; runaway; handicapped; another race or religion; or just plain different or poor they really didn’t gaf. • @luciuscornelius7177
      @luciuscornelius7177 3 роки тому +79

      I thought the same, but some families have had generations of abuse, addiction, poverty, leaving them vulnerable and barely able to stagger through life themselves let alone care for their children/siblings.
      If the truth be told, even if they'd reported her as missing, the chances of the police getting off their arses to track her down may have been slim to none.
      I'm glad these people are being seen now though, they mattered and shouldn't go to their graves nameless.

With that being said, I personally feel that those who commit sexual crimes, especially against children, very rarely have any chance at rehabilitation. It's been proven time and time again that people that commit those types of crimes almost *always* reoffend after being released/paroled.
