Really makes me wish you would do a video breaking down the duel between Fingolfin Vs Morgoth from The Silmarillion, especially compared to Morgoth’s massive hammer.
I believe increased weight might result in greater durability (rather, it would be the opposite). You see this in monster hunter where they get knocked around by the monsters without getting torn or blasted apart. Like dense bone and muscles to result in more weight and strength
I can see putting a curve in the hand guard for better rest position. Also, like Conan's Atlantean sword, extend the handle along the first eight inches of the blade would give you additional rest positions (I doubt you would get much cutting along those eight inches anyway).
I think if Shad installed some kind of handle in the middle like Ginjo's Fullbring from Bleach he'd have a more reliable way to grip the weapon like a spear without needing to touch the edge to reposition it.
It takes about 2 seconds to swing through 360 degrees and almost 1 second to swing from rest- overhead and down. You need an assistant to test whether that is sufficient time to die at the hands of a swift opponent.
I enjoy this shorter form of video much more than shadiversity. Some people like to see 3 dudes talk about a subject. Some people just wanna see the answer. I'm the latter type
..Its like you made this video just for me!..😃😂. so happy when you first brought out that giant wooden sword a while back and i realised it wasnt just me that wanted to test them out. Again I'd love to test mine against yours one day in the future.😁. Thank you for this one shad. Lots of ideas we'd also like to test out. Awesome video.👌. 🗡
For carrying the thing around, I'd rest the pommel of the giant sword in a cup suspended low from the belt. I'd also hang my banner from the tip of the blade.
I can’t remember the name of the arcade game but there was one in the late 90s/early 2000s with a full plate armored knight with a wide zwiehander a third again as long as the character was tall. While fun enough I always considered it unrealistic and unwieldy as swing that sort of weight would quickly fatigue the user. Barring fantasy materials that are super lightweight even that was unbelievable. I much prefer the more realistic, historical weapons of Mordhau.
I liked a previous one, where the sword had a centre shaft, with edges on each side of the shaft. It allowed the sword to be used lika a giant sword, and more like a polearm. It should also have resulted in far less air resistance. Not insignificant, in such a large weapon. I do wounder how useful the inner half of the blade is though. Perhaps it would be better to have a much longer grip. perhaps half the length of the weapon, so that it sits somewhere halfway between between a huge sword, and a glaive, in terms of shaft/grip length vs. blade length.
I like the name monstersword for the tallest one since great sword is taken and you said it’s a monster. Alternatively, maybe a crowdsword. Since it’s for clearing crowds?
Changing the subject briefly, something that’s been bothering me for several videos set before the castle facade: Is the lower arm of the cross-shaped arrow loops equal in length to the upper or are the upper portions a bit longer? Maybe it’s the camera angle but it looks like the upper is longer. Doesn’t really matter if you’re happy with it but curiosity and finally realizing what was nagging at the back of mind prompted this question.
Someone like Goliath from the Bible could have used a sword like this. There was one guy less than two hundred years ago named Angus MacAskill who, I'm sure, could have used a sword like this with no problem.
Do you think a 'paddle slap' with a sword like that would have merit against a well armored foe? Seems like it could quickly put a foe flat on the ground.
One thing I appreciate is how Shad leverages Hmhis health as a way to show how tiring the fight will be. Kinda like testing kitchen gadgets with an oily non-dominant hand to simulate grip issues.
"I just damaged my castle!" You just drove home the major disadvantages with huge swords, sir. That is the risk of hurting or damaging anyone or anything that gets into its range. Its one thing using this kind of weapons in 5VS5 battles but a whole other thing to use it in formations. Also - Those swings will open up to any bowmen within range. J.
So, with what you learned in coming up with a style, can you redesign the weapon? Looks like the sword does not need to be sharp down to the hilt, but maybe have an area that is purposely made as a shoulder rest/pivot point.
Sometimes I'm really glad that u can wield something like that one handed with a big shield in the souls games even if I know that this is completely unrealistic. xD
Soul Caliber games actually do a good job with resting stances and strike angles with swords like this. Siegfried more so than nightmare after they split.
To fight a big sword the clue is all about continuous swings to take advantage of the reach and moves to help speed up the blade would be used a lot to make it hit harder. Those things suggest a tweaked fighting style that allows for spinning and sweeping strikes. I can also see several moves that would help swing it that would include dual effects of blocking or defending at the same time. :D
I don't think you can use a giant sword for crowd control because if you're cutting through somebody you're going to lose the momentum so therefore you'll have to pick up the giant sword again and that leaves you open for somebody else to attack you... This is my point of view..I like your videos
But can you hardswap all of your armor after parrying with GUGS? Or are you just going to kite and send more blues and incur the wrath of the chainsaw?
Looks cool. But even with super strength, super weight, and whatnot, I wouldn't want to fight anyone with a similarly long spear or any polearm with this. Not to mention crossbows.
Simple: you don't. Giant swords and other Goku-Naruto type shiit are cool only to the kids with no imagination or understanding of basic laws of physics. Sorry, but I'd take an asteroid being a ballistic projectile (Mass Effect style) type stuff any day, even back when I was a kid. Simplified combat and brute strength just isn't very fun or clever.
I like big swords, but even I thought it was excessive. He should just stick to using the smaller one he showed at the beginning of the video as the big one would only reslky be practical if he had the strength of Cloud or Guts to use it.
Dear Shad, I have an idea to get revenue and attention to your projects. I think you should make IRL products, besides clothes, specifically adult coloring books, paintable figurines/models, costume kits and maybe even some downloadable 3D printable projects. A test/small start could be downloadable adult coloring pages. It would be fun to have a piece fo the Shadiverse in one's own home.
how much range do you want in close combat?
Yes…
The castle has an authentic look now
"That's not a sword." Shad pulls out these monsters "That's a sword."
Channeling his inner crocodile Dundee
Hopefully the shadlands can propel you into the funds to keep up the titan sword project!
This is the best Shad entrance I have ever seen.
Doing a greatsword build in Elden ring right now. So much fun. Nice one, Shad!
I've always enjoyed the look of real historic weapons over fantasy.
Made me sad when I remembered that titan sword is probably never coming now 😢
You’d also need some hefty armor (a) for grounding and (b) for tanking hits on your vulnerable side while spinning the blade.
Please, oh merciful algorithm, acknowledge this amazing channel
We need to support the beautiful man. Hail the fellowship
Lets get these subs up with as much effort Shad raised this sword.
This was one of my fave vide back in the day.
Love sub 10-minute videos, keep them coming!
I love ALL THE SHADLANDS videos!!!! ❤
"It was too big to be called a sword. Massive, thick, heavy, and far too rough. Indeed, it was a heap of raw iron"
Awesome video thanks Shad
I was hoping you'd do flips and swing it at lightning speed like Cloud from Final Fantasy 7
You ever see dark souls? You'd have to wear Havel's Armor to be able to be heavy enough to swing that shit
I like big swords and I cannot lie.
Me too.
I have enjoyed my time in the Shadlands!
It would be cool if giant swords were in Chronicles of Everfall, or your Sci-Fi epic - is it still going to be "Allstar"?
Awesome video. Giant swords..... HUGE!
Really makes me wish you would do a video breaking down the duel between Fingolfin Vs Morgoth from The Silmarillion, especially compared to Morgoth’s massive hammer.
Video companies will video capture shad fighting with a giant sword but then they will transition the character.

"The Shwoard"....
"May the Shwoard be with you!"

Shield + Sword = Shword? Where does the ‘a’ come from? 🤔

I think it would need to be treated like a musket. You need a coordinated team to cover for the people "reloading."

seigfreid from SOULCALIBUR has some good techniques
That looks like seigfrieds sword now that im looking at it
@@carlpapa123The "small" greatsword he had in his left hand at the beginning of the video looked like the Moonlight Greatsword.
For carrying the thing around, I'd rest the pommel of the giant sword in a cup suspended low from the belt. I'd also hang my banner from the tip of the blade.
@theshadlands1142 Check out Siegfried's moveset from the Soul Calibur series. The shoulder leverage you're talking about at 06:59 is on display there!
Is this shads version of the giant fosters beer can
Hell boy 3
Awe you musta fixed the dent in the castle wall 😢
:D this is some awesome content! Seeing you wield a big sword, in cool armor, teaching us cool things is just the best
Anime characters are crazy strong wielding these swords
Well swords made of either toner ink or bytes don't weigh much at all.

Hey Chad love you bro I tried to like and watch all your videos we're all so busy please keep making content
Big sword do big damage.
The Stormlight Archive addressed this question quite handily.

You should do more videos of tyrants turning stuff into swords like you did with that machete

The original video immediately preceded the Titan Sword project.
Ginjo's Fullbring is a good example of how that would look.
one day they are gonna finish this giant carbon sword...
I like the name monstersword for the tallest one since great sword is taken and you said it’s a monster.
Alternatively, maybe a crowdsword. Since it’s for clearing crowds?
Oh no the castle!
Monstersword makes sense since you need something that big to take one down.
Great video Shad.

This is why Soul Reaper Captains condense their swords.
If you put a shword in a shabbard, could you dual wield them with the second one being a shoulder-strapped shield?
One thing I appreciate is how Shad leverages Hmhis health as a way to show how tiring the fight will be. Kinda like testing kitchen gadgets with an oily non-dominant hand to simulate grip issues.
Make the handle longer and u won't have that problem it's that easy
Or just use the smaller greatsword he had at the beginning. The bigger one would only really be useful if you can defy gravity like Guts.
Any update on your books?

No fun allowed
I'd be more considered about the length and weight of it limiting sweeping attacks since it'd be very easy to hit the ground and be at a disadvantage.
Could a giant sword benefit from having a longer grip? Like a length between a short staff and a hiking stick?
at first I thought this was a new video.. then I see that the Castle aren't bumped in this start - hence an old video newly uploaded into this channel
Shad said in a video on Shadiversity that he was doing re-cuts, in other words reusing parts of old videos but within new videos.

A castle with battle damage. Does that add authenticity?
I think so. A castle with no battle damage screams "Disney."
i don't fight with it
i usually just polish it a bit and then it gets bigger somehow
Shad wouldn't approve of you just polishing all day, find a good place to sheath it and find a secondary hobby.
I like it
tbh even if with a regular sized sword would be better even the mightiest of greatsword wielders would cower in fear at that thing

would fool's and/or tail guard work with these😂
How does it do when riding a dragon
This a good decent length for me. I don't really like the over indulgent stuff, with skits and comedy and what not.
