Bahay Kubo-"My nippa hut is very small, but the food that we grow, it feeds us all"... She sang it wonderfully and explained it to the simplest form yet very on point.
Huge respect and appreciation for this reporter/host! She really showed sincere delight in showcasing and participating in this special segment. Exemplified the best of Canada as we welcome other cultures here or go into other parts of the world and show appreciation and respect. Love that she was influenced by her teacher (must have been a lovely teacher) to learn about and appreciate Filipino people and culture 💗
She spoke good English but was really nervous lol. She didn't really explain why there were no utensils, or why use banana leaves, but to her credit, she did say it started with the Military tradition

The Kamayan dining tradition exemplifies the profound sense of community prevalent in the Philippines. Similar to other Asian cultures, eating is viewed as a communal experience rather than an individual one. The enjoyment of food is greatly enhanced when shared with loved ones. While this concept is also present in Western culture, Filipino meals go beyond the confines of immediate family. They often encompass extended family members, close friends, and sometimes even the entire community. When visiting a Filipino family during mealtime, it is customary to be warmly invited to partake in the feast.
Can't help but admire the host. She gives good vibes and makes the guest very comfortable. She makes the content of the show more appealing and worth watching. 10 out of 10.
June is Filipino Heritage Month in line with Philippine Independence Day. Wished she mentioned that and not just a celebration of Filipino food. It was still a great exposure to the "kamayan" experience , uniquely Filipino. Thanks Kulinarya!
The host is giving her best not to intimidated her guest and well they simply enjoying the best of some of the filipino food we can offer..lovely pres3ntation and choices of foods on that banana leaves💐💗😊
The host is admirable. Hope you can visit the Philippines and experience our hospitality too. And we also would like to thank Canada for giving our fellow Filipinos the opportunity to serve and live there.
Awwwww I’m so proud of tgat gorgeous anchor woman who sang Bahay Kubo! Brilliant! However, let me add that “kamayan” which she describes as a bundle flight actually mean camaraderie/friendship. Kamayan is actually not came from that☺️ is part of traditions long ago before the Spanish, Chinese,Japanese and American arrived in the Philippines. Kamayan is Filipino itself😊
Kamayan did not start with boodle fight. Kamayan has always been the way people ate especially in the countrysides of the Philippines. It also depends on the food. Of course you can't do kamayan with soup! Kamayan is universally how all people ate from evolution long before the invention of spoon and fork. There is something special about eating with bare hands. Our skin absorbs the flavors and it makes eating more delicious! 😊 I wish this the lady did a much better job in hyping up Pinoy food.
Kamayan or the use of hands in eating meals has been a part of 🇵🇭 Culture long before the so-called “Boodle Fight” from the Ph Military. However, the use of Banana Leaves in its presentation is undeniably popularized by the Soldiers themselves. Hence, the credits! 🤷🏻♂️

KAMAYAN is the Filipino version that originated with their ancestors. It did not start with boodle fight. When Magellan landed in 1521 in the Philippines, he is invited to a feast and it was documented in Pigaffetta's diary. It is a pre-colonial tradition that is still observed today. More than 500 years of history!
Kamayan is not just filipino way of eating food, and the chef stated also the word "boodle fight" is originated from the military. Eating hands in the philippines are common even the time of magellan.
Ikr? Even the Filipino woman doesn't know the origin of Kamayan. I've never even ever heard of "Boodle Fight" until ex-Philippine President Duterte's time.
Filipino food is insanely delicious. Actually, today was my first time to try Filipino food with my hands. I have been staying in the Philippines for 2 weeks and I have never been happier. You should definitely visit in the Philippines and experience this beautiful country!🤩
Wala pong kutsara.

The host was very pleasant and I appreciate her for letting Chef Rose to finish answering the questions though she kinda struggle a bit probably because of nervousness. Chef Rose did a great a job too in explaining the Kamayan tradition.

Filipinos have been using banana leaves for eating even before Magellan came. I was born in Leyte, in a rural agricultural area where there's plenty of coconut trees and banana plants. Eating with our bare hands using seared banana leaves (to sanitize and make them supple and strong) as our plate was, and still is, a common practice among us, esp.when having meals in the middle of a rice field or coconut grove, far away from one's own house.
@@JanuWaray But, it was indeed the soldiers that popularized it nationwide. The style of putting Banana Leaves in a Long Table & style of putting Rice in the middle as base for the ulams is very Boodle Fight. 🙄
I'm watching you guys from Cairo, Egypt. I feel like I'm back home to Philippines my beautiful country. Prang andoon ako sa amin kumakain NG ating masarap na food and kakanin
To eat with your bare hands is way back before Spanish or Chinese arrival in the Philippines I think for sure. Boddle fight started with soldiers in the Philippines.
I’m Filipino but the only kamayan that I can enjoy is when they bring out dishes one at a time. When it’ dumped all together like that it reminds me of a buffet, and also things tend to cool down to room temperature too much for my taste.
