@@danhughes3626 Trust me when I say that two Kinetic balls and a round or two of the Pepperball or Max rounds with stop 99% of attacked in their tracks. He only took one Kinetic round which he was ready for and 98% of the Pepperball round was blown away by the wind so he only got the tiniest of exposure. Full exposure would be much much worse as I discovered when I let myself be shot with one. The Max rounds are 3x worse than the regular Pepperball rounds.
It’s sad that this isn’t available in all 50 states. With gun restrictions tightening more and more every year, I see real potential for this as an alternative
@@user-md3qx6we8u I just saw that actually. When I took a look at this product a few months ago, it wasn’t available in NY. Now it says they ship, but not to the 5 boroughs. Yet I’m not in one of them, I’m actually on Long Island which is connected to queens, so I’m not sure if they’ll ship to me, but this product could prove very useful in a serious situation. Sadly they only allow the kinetic rounds here, and not the OC rounds (which is what I was hoping to get my hands on) but since watching more videos, I feel confident that they’d work just as well.
Pro tip: for a better effect for the HD MAX or Pepper projectile, shooter should aim for the chest with a minimum of 2 shots. Shooting someone in the abdomen is not effective (with kinetic, yes) so, "center mass/high/multiple" would be your best bet when practicing and ultimately executing that protocol during a threat.
What I determined from this is that if someone is raging and full of adrenaline charging at you with a knife then this probably wouldn't do shit. I mean you weren't exactly rolling around on the ground.
Thank you. That was pretty brave doing that experiment when you didn't know the outcome. The commercial for the Byrna left the impression that it would knock down and incapacitate a person for 30 minutes, allowing time for police to arrive. Obviously, that didn't hold true with your experiment. You saved me some dough.
i think it might actually work if you didn't know it was coming. it hurt pretty bad and i don't yhink i would have went after someone if that happened for real.

I've read some comments about the pepper ball hit! Just like the spray it has to be shot at the top of the chest to be more effective. Also a persons body type can reduce it's effectiveness as you saw here! Had he been hit in the upper chest the ball would have exploded more uniformly! And just like a spray don't forget to account for the wind!

As former TSA 🛫 I guarantee you, you cannot take that in carry-on luggage; ANYTHING that looks remotely like a weapon, even two-dimension toy guns from the dollar store, will not be allow in carry-on. You will be able to check it with your regular luggage. And this runs on CO2 cartridges, you cannot take anything (carry-on OR checked luggage) that is pressurized, so those can't go.
Even those hopped up on drugs would have a heck of a time with the pepper spray ones. Probably should be aimed at the shoulder area to have a better shot at breaking though, and to have closer access to the nose and eyes. I have not had trouble with mine.
People have modified these types of pistols into metal flechette pistols for very effective small game hunting. Basically the bore sized round acts as a sabot holding a sharp metal dart in the middle. Grouse, rabbits, pheasants do not stand a chance.

I live in California, gun laws here are so strict. I don’t use the normal kinetic rounds though, at least for self defense if there’s some dogs or wild animals around I have a mag of kinetic rounds and normal pepperball rounds, now for my self defense I carry 9 gram riot shot. It’s basically a steel shot with rubber molded around it, I alternate with that and the max rounds. I wouldn’t dare trust my life with just the pepper and kinetic rounds, you take a shot of the max and you’ll be coughing and crying your lungs out and the riot shot well let’s just say if it hits your mouth or face….it’s gonna break….. it’s not legal in California to have anything that fires any irritant projectiles. I’ve had to pull some strings and have family send it in across the country, can’t say I don’t regret the trouble I have to go through to get em though.
The reason you didn't get a good blast of pepper in your eyes is because of the board shielded it and the wind was blowing pretty hard! I assure you that had you not shielded your eyes and taken multiple rapid shots. it would have done a number on you!
I disagree with you. Even if someone is hopped up on drugs comes at you, it’s all range. There was a guy who had this happen and he shot the guy in the face with the launcher pressed to his cheek and it stopped him alright. It tore part of his face off. Also, the documentation tells you to disperse the chemical against a hard surface. If that chemical truly broke and got into your eyes you’d be crying for your momma. In real world scenario criminals wear coats, jackets and vests....What happens with the CS projectiles when a heavy coat is worn ? Is impact absorbed by the jacket rendering the projectile useless....?
As former federal LE and tactical CQB instructor, this device and Personal Defense Sprays are not legal in NY, Alaska & Hawaii, nor can they be shipped into those states. There are also shipping restrictions of certain products in the Byrma catalogue into certain states, where Personal Defense Sprays/launchers are otherwise legal, ie., Michigan, Wisconsin & California. I would go to the Byrma site for the most accurate up to date information regarding which products are legal, though if ya live in Hawaii, Alaska or NY, forget about em, lol. I just ordered the Byrna SD this past week… order wouldn’t ship… turns out the order issue related to the “Max” ammo, as that cannot be shipped to Michigan, which I added to my cart… yet the Pepper balls can be shipped to MI, no problem. So adjusted my order to Pepper, now no probs shipping. Just shows you how screwed up laws are… I can carry my 9mm, but I can’t get Max ammo for a non-lethal gun for protection.
In New York (no nyc) you can get the kinetic rounds and standard launcher shipped. The pepper rounds you just can’t ship into the state; there are however local dealers that DO ship the chemical rounds. Sportsman warehouse in Rochester NY ships the max rounds as well as others!
If I had something like this then I would probably have one or two none lethals, with those marked clearly so I know personally, and then the rest be lethal. I respect the rule of "Never point a fire arm at something your are not willing to destroy." and "If you are willing to point a gun at someone you must also be willing to shot it if you have to."
I'm retired Army infantry, and the byrna pepper gun is not a good self-defense option. We tested it out on me several times, and while some of the rounds didn't even break on my skin, the ones that did sure they released a little bit of pepper gas but it wasn't enough to debilitate me disoriented me or calls me unable to attack or defend. In my opinion you're better off getting keychain defense tools, real pepper spray, or a real taser gun. If you want my real opinion get yourself some shooting lessons, and buy a sensible gun and keep it in a sensible location. Do not depend on this weapon to save you.
Thank you so much for this demo. I've been thinking about getting one for small petty car or yard crime. I'd hate to use real lethal rounds for punk kids doing punk kid stuff. Get in the house? Or direct physical threat? Different story.

In that case, it's probably best to buy the blac or desert colored one, then see if the show of force would work, first, to see if someone would back away at the idea of a real gun.
got this for my girlfriend when she walks our dog around. I wont lie I would not trust her aim with my 45, she would put it through our neighbors kitchen or something
The paintball pellets sold on Amazon for practice shooting with it, work well. They come it blk for target shooting. It helped me a lot. I carry one to protect my dog from dog attacks as well as myself. They were pretty fun to practice with.

The Byrna is probably good for pepper balls but wouldn't recommend it for kinetic balls. It's not powerful enough to shoot the 3.5 gram kinetic balls fast enough to be a good deterrent imo.
compared to pepper spray or a stun gun. the good thing about the byrna it keeps distance between you and the assailant. hopefully giving you a chance to escape.
So safe to say if someone manages a headshot with this, an assailant will regret it

Umarex T4E pistols an aluminum or glass .43 cal projectiles might be more up ur alley it's allot more effective than the byrna in my opinion

The paintball pellets sold on Amazon for practice shooting with it, work well. They come it blk for target shooting. It helped me a lot. I carry one to protect my dog from dog attacks as well as myself. They were pretty fun to practice with.
I don’t know it for a fact but I feel pretty confident that you can’t bring one of these things in your carry-on into an airplane

They do have 10 gram riot balls. but I was not getting shot with that. The kinetic round that hit me was 3.5 grams. Thanks for watching.

The Byrna is probably good for pepper balls but wouldn't recommend it for kinetic balls. It's not powerful enough to shoot the 3.5 gram kinetic balls fast enough to be a good deterrent imo.
