When Dodge first put the 6BT in the Ram it was rated at 160 hp & 400 lb-ft. It was plenty for the 1-ton dodges then, and much more power could be had with mods. The ISB3.8 almost matches the output of the old 6BT....why not bring that, and set up with Eaton to sell the same manual transmission package that's sold in the Brazilian F series... winner winner chicken dinner!
Since I saw this. I have thought about this swap with my postal jeep. Would I need a beefier automatic transmission. I would put this motor to the teSt on the Mail route in WV and if 2.8R get's 25/30mpg I will make her my daily driver and downsize my fleet of vehicles.
Awesome looking engine! Why more small displacement (2.8 litre) turbo diesel engines aren't available here in the USA as crate engines is beyond me. I'm all for clean air emissions, but the demands the EPA imposes on engine manufacturers seem both unreasonable and unrealistic. It's as if they want to eliminate *every* molecule that comes out the tailpipe. I fail to see how that's even possible to do. As long as the engine is running, something's gotta come out the other end of the vehicle.
What about towing with this motor? I would like to install this motor in a Toyota and retain the original 5000 lb tow capacity. What rpm would you recommend at 55 mph? I know that below 2000 rpm is considered gearing for economy, and above 2000 rpm is for performance; so is 2000 rpms sufficient?
I love the concept, but it is just soo lacking in power and torque for the size and cost. I mean, it's half the size of modern 1 ton truck engines but puts out 1/4 the hp and torque. It's pretty sad really. This engine should be putting out at least 250hp and 400lb/ft, especially for the $9,000 price tag.
I wanted to make a quick question I am wanting to swap out my 5.3 silverado engine and putting it in a s10 or a Mustang but that is besides the point I am wanting to know if it is possible to put a cummins engine into my 2000 silverado please answer back
victor zamorano I plan on getting a 98 to 99 XJ to replace my rusty 95 with and I am extremely interested in this swap. it's a little annoying how much the XJ guys are ignored.
CUMMINS bring back the 12 valve 5.9 6BT as a repower unit.

The Anything Scout guys installed a R2.8 into a Jeep JKU chassis (unless I'm mistaken), and put an old Scout body on top. So nice.
When will this be available to the public?
love my 3.3 in my c 10 shortbed 30 mpg with a 5 speed
I'd really like to know how much a complete package for this will be.

Environmental wackos for u.
This would be great in a LR defender.
I would like to see a 6.4 hemi in a commander
Need to sell this engine standard in many Jeeps and similar size vehicles.
don even mention the plastic oil pan and the 10k+ just for the engine
Where can I find a turnkey jeep. I like this diesel setup. I've seen the 4 cylinders and maybe 1 6 cylinder which would be nuts
Bruiser conversions.. 40k plus though. And they use the 3.8isf too
Curious, does the cruise control work?
I am unable to find the price anywhere.

Julio Bafillo pretty sure you can, I hear of a lot of people putting cummins in chevies all the time. Idk how it works but people make it work
Put the ls in the s10.. The 3.8isf is better sized for your truck. And a mustang wity a 4.6/5.4 is adequate for a low cost
There are a lot of good questions in this comment section that need answering
can this be put into a 4runner
looks a lot more complicated than a 3 wire 4bt
they need to produce a 4.2Ltr V6 diesel... 2.8 is too small...
Jackal's Outdoor Channel or get the dieswl engine they provide for the egyptian army
