Hi, I'm Jeffrey Gould, one of three who filmed this back in 1977; seeing Roy Scheider and William (one of my favorite directors, even though he threw us off the set) and all those Panavision/Arriflex cameras was a pretty cool thing for 3 teens wanting to be filmmakers.
Hi Jeffrey, thanks for this material. I LOVE making-ofs! Don't think Friedkin was one of the nicest directors... but one of the best! Didn't get the stupid critics back then at the first release. Always admired this movie.
klartext22 Thanks for that great reply. It was a cool experience and they ended up using the footage for a doc on friedkin, talk about irony. I loved the movie as well and have the poster hanging in my office. His bio was incredible, I read it in two weeks.
Thank you for this Jeff I had no idea that Newt Arnold worked 5 pictures with Sam Peckinpah or for that matter this one!! He was so sweet and welcoming to me on Last Action Hero, his last picture. I'm so emotional to see this video. RIP Sir
the halcyonic heyday of american feature film - a fantastic "real-film"- lensed document of production on friedkin's ill-fated $22 million dollar (paramount/universal) existential masterpiece that was seemingly doomed to failure with the release of "star wars" just a month earlier ... now try to imagine the great unwashed having such opportunistic access to a live shooting set in this day and age ... beyond comprehension...

Hey Jeff , very interesting , Thank you.
One of the best movies ever made. How did they do the bridge scenes? And what are you up to now?

It does kick ass but the original film from the 50s deserves a watch first!

This a gift from heaven! Thank you for posting it. (Some of us love this film beyond description!)
