Close, but no. Wilt averaged 50 points and 25 rebounds while playing 48.5 minutes per game, and if blocks and steals would have been counted it would have been even more ridiculous.
I don’t think I’ve ever heard Cone get this worked up when talking about a basketball player. As a nuggets fan since the Bubble, I’m absolutely on cloud nine. The Nuggets are looking amazing, and Jokic is looking like the best player I’ve ever seen. This is the most fun I’ve had watching basketball and honestly, it looks like the most fun Jokic has had playing basketball
The thing is Jokic has to put up these numbers. Denver would’ve lost all of these games unless he dug deep and put up these video game numbers. The Denver Nuggets are being held entirely together by Jokic. He has +40 net rating per 100 possessions. When he is on the floor he is providing all of Denver’s offense and allows Denver to play teams to at least a draw. When he’s off the court for any length of time the the team doesn’t know how to function. In terms of value there isn’t a player who provides more imo.
Pair that with decent efficiency and great defense and that's just a Derrick White stat-line. Like, the dude's generating the same output as two elite role-players combined, and that's with the entire other team's attention focused on him.
Can’t believe I actually thought a couple seasons ago Embiid was in this guys stratosphere I’ve watched a lot of these nuggets games and I know people dislike them but honestly I really enjoy watching them play and jokic is one of the most incredible players I’ve seen in my short stint of watching ball. generational and I think that’s starting to hit everyone now.
I'm glad to see the credits where they're due, but if you want to really get ahead of anyone doing these kinds of commentary about Jokic you need to put some attention on the defensive side as well, considering how many people still talk of him as a bad defensive player. He's a much, much better defender than most people realize - it's just that he's as unorthodox on defense as he is on offense, and doesn't do it the way people usually look for in a big man - he plays defense much like a guard, playing the passing lanes and collecting deflections - and even though he's not the best vertical athlete around, his elite positioning still gets him challenging and changing a lot of shots around the rim - he's the defensive core of the team as well as the offensive motor, and although he doesn't do as good of a job at the first as he does at the second, it's still a pretty good one, and it's not a fluke that most advanced stats show exactly that. Cheers!
Jokic has earned "top 10 player conversations" even though most people arent going to have him there. The point is he has legitimately earned himseld a spot in the conversation. If his career ended today, I have him 15th-20th, around Charles Barkley and Dirk Nowitzki
@hungrylion101 I agree with you. But if Jokic's career ended today, they would both have a massive advantage in longevity that makes up the difference. Things like 12 All NBA teams, total points, total rebounds, etc.... Jokic is clearly on pace to end above both of these guys.

It’s funny. I started really noticing Jokic in 2018, and by 2019 I was already saying to people in Colorado “WATCH” because I knew his game was unbeatable. When it was just basically him and Jamal in the bubble in 2020, and I saw how far they could go with a 2 man game, I knew they would win a title right there. The next couple seasons were hard fought but they couldn’t make it to the finals. Pickup after pickup with Aaron Gordon or MPJ or PJ Watson with those sparks of greatness next to nikola and Jamal was all Denver needed to see. And the year they won the championship I could feel that it was their year, so I started going to games live at ball arena. They won every single game I went to live and went on to win the finals. Getting to witness Jokic ball out in real life I knew right then and there, was going to be something I was going to tell my grandkids. And I don’t even want kids

With Murray and MPJ slowly finding their shots things are only gonna change for the better as well. Don't forget about Russ, who looks completely different and Gordon ain't even playing. Luka ain't playing MVP basketball right now, with Chet out, OKC might actually fall a little bit as well and i don't think the Lakers are getting a Top 6 seed for AD to win it. If Jokic can win his 4th MVP and beat the unbeatable voter fatique, we might actually get into uncomfortable conversations for some people. Don't forget he is already a borderline Top 10 player as well.

There are 9 players in NBA history to win 3 or more MVPs and a Finals MVP: Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlin, Kareem, Moses Malone, Magic, Bird, MJ, Lebron and now Jokic. That's it. That's the entire list! Every one of them is a top 10-12 all time great Hall of Famer. People haven't caught up to the fact that he's in the same category as Lebron, Steph, and other top 10 all time great players. But, in retrospect it won't seem surprising at all. People just need to catch up to how great of a career Jokic is having, even if ESPN can't wrap their tiny little minds around this reality.
Jokic very well might get the triple double average. The nuggets play with so much pace and off ball movement and cutting this year that jokic has so many opportunities for easy assists at the rim or wide up shooters
Us: yes, he is the Most valuable player for making his team play better and making NBA more intelligent.. nBA: no, he is not the player bringing the most monetary value to the league
I think he’s borderline top 10 atm, but he will definitely finish top 10. In order for him to break the top 5, he’s going to need to win 2 more rings, imo.
Jokic makes it look easy and that's how the way he plays the game. It's really a shame he could be on the verge of joining players over the years whose best years were wasted on teams with no future whatsoever.
I look at his impact more than raw stat lines - he's miles ahead in advanced stats even though some of these are flawed. Obvious MVP and probably retires as greatest center, but the rebounds are plumped by lack of offensive contest in spread offense era, and assists enhanced by three point kicks and hand offs.
I agree that Jokic had been an unlikely candidate for the MVP just because the NBA powers that powers that be hate giving the MVP each year to the same person, even if they deserve it. I lived in Chicago for 32 years and I was shocked at how each year they'd come up with silly reasons for MJ not winning the MVP. He is easily my current favorite player and he is one of my all time 5 or six favorite players. And with the season he has had so far, may be he will notch another MVP win. However, I get upset that so many people today make videos but don't seem to know the history of the league like they should. So as someone who has been following the NBA for 65 years (I even saw Bob Pettit play a couple of games; who is Bob Pettit, the guy who is probably at this moment the most underrated player in NBA history. In the late 1950 he was absolutely spectacular, a blue collar player who would fight it out with anyone for a rebound and was one of the greatest mid-rdange offensive players ever. I saw him play a game on TV where he scored over 30 and had around 25 rebounds. Pettit is unquestionably the best player that most fans today don't know about. He was a small forward who played like a power forward (you might compare him to Charles Barkley, though he was a much better rebounder than Barkley). Part of the reason Pettit has been forgotten is because he played for St. Louis, whose fans tended to be among the most racist in the NBA (St. Louis tended to avoid adding black players to the roster because it would anger their fan base). One of their best players was known to be racist. I won't mention him just because. I will add that I don't know anything about Pettit's views on race, but I don't remember him personally acting at all racists. But he was one of the greats before the arrival of a bevy of stars that made the NBA a major sport: Russell, Chamberlain, Baylor, West, and Chamberlain. Prior to them you'd seen a few stars like Mikan and Paul Arizen (the first person in the NBA to shoot a jump shot frequently) Cousy (first person to dribble between his legs, or behind his back, and first to perfect behind his back; Cousy also had THE BEST eyes in the history of the NBA, with the second best being Joker) and Dolph Schayes (the only ambidextrous shooter in the history of the NBA; he'd shoot outside jump shots using either hand) and Pettit. Of that group, Pettit and Cousy were considered the best of the Fifties players, though. Oh, Pettit was also the first player to ever score 20,000 points in a career. A few years ago I would have said Elgin Baylor, underrated great player, but so many people have been making videos explaining how underrated he is, that I think most NBA followers today at least know of him as a very great NBA player, or Michael Jordan before Michael Jordan, even if they don't know the particulars of his game. But Pettitt, who was a very great player, is somehow forgotten. So let me talk about the particulars of Baylor's game, because as fine as Jokic is today, Baylor was at least as good as Jokic as an all around offensive force. In fact, the truism about Baylor all the way until around 1980 was that he was the best all around player in the history of basketball. He really was a player without a single area in which he did not excel. Russell was better defensively, but Baylor was nonetheless a superb defensive player. Another truism about Baylor until around 1980 (at which time people ceased to regard him as highly as in the past, though you get some like Red Auerbach who insisted Baylor was the greatest forward of all time (and this was AFTER Auerbach managed to trick the NBA by drafting a college junior a year BEFORE he entered the NBA draft (the rules in the 1970s were that you could draft someone who was a junior, but if you didn't sign them BEFORE the next year's draft, you lost the rights to that player. As a result, no one EVER drafted juniors. Except Auerbach when he drafted Larry Bird BEFORE Bird's final season in college. And obviously, Red managed to sign Bird the off season after Bird's senior year. (To clarify, Bird and Sidney Moncrief were rookies the same year, and were both seniors the same year, but Bird got drafted a year before Moncrief. Just on an interesting sidenote, as rookies, Bird and Moncrief would e the only two players in the NBA that season to lead their respective teams in scoring, assists, and rebounds, which I find especially impressive in Moncrief's case since he was a 6'4 guard with bad knees. But back to Baylor. Baylor had the widest array of shots of any player I've ever seen. He had a bewildering array of hook shots, scoop shots, backward jumpshots (I saw Bird once shoot a jump shot with his back to the basket, but Baylor did it fairly frequently), running set shots, jump shots from any distance or angle, and you have you. The player who most reminds me of Baylor with the enormous variety of his shots is . . . Nikola Jokic. The big difference between Jokic and Baylor scoring wise is how prolific Baylor was prior to his devastating knee injury (among other things, his knee cap broke into three pieces in addition to tendon damage) perhaps the most prolific scorer of all time, excepting only Wilt Chamberlain prior to 1967 (Wilt's new coach that year asked him to cut way back on scoring and instead focus on rebounding and defense. So he ended up averaging around 27 points and 27 rebounds a game). I'm not quite sure what his average was prior to the knee injury, but I'd guess it was around 34 ppg. What people don't know about Baylor are three major things. First, Baylor was a great ball handler. In fact, most years during his career Baylor was the one who brought the ball up the court. One reason for this was that Baylor was one of the greatest full court passers I've ever seen. I've never seen anyone better than Baylor as a fullcourt passer. In fact, if you compare and contrast all the great forwards in NBA history, Baylor stands out among all of them in his rebounding. He ended his career with two personal goals left unfulfilled: he never won an NBA ring and he never averaged 20 rebounds a game. He did manage nearly 20 rebounds in a season. He was an especially great offensive rebounder (until Moses Malone came alone, Baylor was widely regarded as the greatest offensive rebounder of all time), but his defensive rebounding combined with his full court passes made him a formidable home run threat. It helped him that when other teams shot, guard Jerry West would break for him home basket, and he was the recipient of many of Baylor's long passes. But that is also why Baylor was the Lakers' primary ball handler: West was already on his end of the court. Baylor would look for opportunities to score while bringing the ball up, but typically he'd dump the ball off to West after crossing halfcourt, at which point they'd begin to run their offense. I would rank Baylor as a tie for the second best court length passer I've seen. He is tied with Bill Russell and behind Nicola Jokic. But given that Baylor was a more prolific scorer than Jokic, nearly as effect as a passer, and actually much better as a rebounder. I honestly think the 1960s saw the greatest collection of rebounders ever, with Russell (still holds the record for most rebounds per minutes played), Chamberlain, Wes Unseld, Baylor, Chet Walker, Elvin Hayes, Lew Alcindor (later in the 1970s Kareem Abdul-Jabbar), Pettit, and a bunch of others. So, while I love Joker, I can't dub him the best offensive player given Baylor's dominance. Also, keep in mind that Baylor did what he did when NBA defenses where vastly more effective. This is mainly because of rule changes, especially handchecking, but also because of changes in ballhandling. I was watching the Dallas/Denver game the other day with a friend and we agreed that in the 1960s almost nothing that Kyrie or Joker were doing on the court would have been possible. For one thing, defensive players can no longer put much pressure on the offensive players they are guarding. But Jokic, while a great ballhandler today, in 1967 would have been called repeatedly for carrying the ball. James Harden, for instance, would have to relearn how to play basketball if he suddenly found himself teleported back to 1964. You dribble and let the ball go above your waist and you would have been called for traveling. BTW, watching Baylor sprint past the defense while dribbling the ball court length (keeping the ball waist height or lower the whole way) was amazing at the time, but even more impressive given how players today can essentially do anything while dribbling and virtually never get called for traveling.
It sure looked like that second bench is coming into his own with the jokes on the floor I see how well Russell is doing he's picking up he's coming into his own with this team I see where if Mary can stay healthy that would be a big plus but that young boy Christian he's doing his thing he is doing his thing so I'm just looking at that that bench that sit down they have to come into their own like he said he want it's a team sport and that's how he's showing them it's a team sport but that they first they started all of them I just hope that Gordon don't have to stay out too much more longer and hopefully that Murray can stay healthy

And just how effortlessly his numbers accumulate.
No joke, when Jok is on the floor, they're a top 5 offense in the league, without him, they're bottom 5. Clearcut mvp
The Nuggets bench is so bad they'd be better off playing 4 on 5 and resting a guy for the 10 mins they usually end up getting outscored 3 to 1.
Imagine Alpi coming from the bench for Joker, even Zubac would be overkill.
15 points 7 rebounds and 7 assists would be a cool number for most NBA players! That's half of Jokers numbers 😅
25-10-10 would raise some questions about Jokic like "what is going wrong with his form". This is literally Jokic's 70% power.
@berryesseen just saying, he's worth 2 good players!

I believe he ends up top 5 all time
Who would the other 4 be? Jordan, Lebron, Kobe, and Kareem?
@ I’d go Jordan, Lebron, Kareem, and then Tim Duncan before Kobe honestly
Wilt, Jordan, Kareem, LeBron

Jokic somehow is getting better. He’s like ok I’m gonna improve my 3 pt shooting. So now he’s hitting 3s like they’re free throws. It’s wild to watch!
If he win another title is over. He gonna be the greatest C of all time
Jokic glazing is actually accurate lol
Cheers!
Finnaly someone who understands bball, cheers Brate.
Jokic deserve 5-5 MVPs, no one can come close to him, he is in his own dimension
He is just so easy to root for.. an absolute monster out there🇷🇸🃏🐐🙏
Jokic has earned "top 10 player conversations" even though most people arent going to have him there. The point is he has legitimately earned himseld a spot in the conversation.
If his career ended today, I have him 15th-20th, around Charles Barkley and Dirk Nowitzki
But he was way better than both of them and have more MVP and also have 1 chip already
@hungrylion101 I agree with you. But if Jokic's career ended today, they would both have a massive advantage in longevity that makes up the difference. Things like 12 All NBA teams, total points, total rebounds, etc....
Jokic is clearly on pace to end above both of these guys.
@@GTNover yes..but he will play at least few years more...I mean whole Dirk game is one aspekt of Jokic game ( mid fadaway and solid 3pt shoting, sombor schufle etc )
@@hungrylion101 For sure. His career almost certainly won't end now. I'm just saying what he's earned up to this exact point in time.
Jokic has been performing better and better. for 4 straight years and now 5th.
MVP - MVP - 2ND - MVP - (?) 2025
WCF - WCF - CHAMP - 2nd rd.
and that 2nd place mvp was a debatable decision.
5 straight years (it depends on his performance this year.) of being the best alive should atleast be within top 5.
You’d think that he can’t get any better, and then he proceeds to be twice as good as last year.
Nicola The MV4 Jokic, no debate right now
People need to put some respect on Jokic's name; bro is unstoppable on the court

Jokic is the best scorer in the league, completely unstoppable
He did in this Mavs game the same thing he did vs Ant & Rudy where Jokić was placing his players because he knew Wolves plays better than they did.😂
Let's hope jamal Murray will show up this year.
And MPJ keeps this form
Not looking good so far.
@@MG-np6wh I'm used to the idea porter is just not good enough and got greatly overpaid. But even so if Murray has his ring winning form it won't matter as much.
I definitely say he's the best in the world for the last few years 💯
He makes a triple double look as simple as getting a couple layups and rebounds. Soon people will be yawning at a 40 pt triple double from him. Insane.
He's also a BEAST on defense, top 10 in stocks. top 3 in deflections. top 15 in all 3 of the advanced analytics. people say he's bad on D because of how he looks.
Jokic can't be real, cause ain't no way 🤦♂️. Just as we thought Jokic was already the best player in the world he really ups his game...I am not even lying when i say i don't remember him having a single bad game, since his 1st MVP season. Bro is currently averaging a near 30 pt triple doubles on 56/56/84 splits 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️. This guy might actually have the best peak if he continues like that.
When he’s on the court for the Nuggets, they have the best offense in basketball by more than 5 points per 100 possessions. When he is off the floor, they have the worst offense in basketball by more than 5 points per 100 possessions.

Steel questioning? Good thing it's not gold.
There aren't really any honest discussions where it's in question. The only places you'll find it are social media with biased people, or trolls.
I hope his amazing play trancends voter fatigue (if by the end he does deserve it), cause' I feel the media has already nominated either Shai, Tatum, or Luka as MVP before actually seeing how the season plays out
He's out of this world right now
There are 9 players in NBA history to win 3 or more MVPs and a Finals MVP: Bill Russell, Wilt Chamberlin, Kareem, Moses Malone, Magic, Bird, MJ, Lebron and now Jokic.
Jokic is at least all nba 3rd team defense this season
Jokic very well might get the triple double average. The nuggets play with so much pace and off ball movement and cutting this year that jokic has so many opportunities for easy assists at the rim or wide up shooters
Us: yes, he is the Most valuable player for making his team play better and making NBA more intelligent..
nBA: no, he is not the player bringing the most monetary value to the league
If he was 80% of what he is now, he would still be the best plager in the world
HE CANT KEEP GETTING AWAY WITH THIS - HE CANT
And the guy has been drafted 41st, meaning there was a non negligeable chance that he could have never played in the nba.
Most dominant players I’ve ever seen
‘03 Tim Duncan
‘16 Steph
Nikola Jokic last 5 years 😂
F! Shaq & LeBalco.
Just looking at the statistics, he's already the best center ever. Oldies just can't accept it
I think he’ll have good longevity so will he ever end up in goat discussions
The Joker have the best defensive plus minus to add to all the stuff you said.
Yes agreed, but the sport has changed alot, which makes comparisons difficult.
jokic MIGHT put up the best singular season oat
JOKIC IS ALREADY THE BEST PLAYER TO EVER PLAY THE GAME!!
Zivela Srbija, Jokic i Djokovic i Nikola Tesla.

And just how effortlessly his numbers accumulate.
