Hello David. Thanks for another interesting video. Dublin is a city I visit often and know pretty well. For your next trip, I'd recommend you visit the Tower Records main store at Dawson Street. It is much bigger than the one you visited, but still, all new pressing. Tower Records never sold used records. Not now, nor in the 80's. For that a have a couple of recommendations for your next trip: "Freebird Record Store" (15A Wicklow Street); "Spindizzy" (at The Market Arcade at South George's Street); "Sound Cellar" (47 Nassau St.); and "The Rage" (8 Crowd Street). They are all very centric and within walking distance from each other. On a separate note, I find the digital display in the background very distracting.

As a Dublin local I can wholeheartedly reccomend Spindizzy and Freebird, the Rage too has the odd second hand gem sometimes. Ireland is not great for record shops generally, unfortunately. Avoid tower/hmv/golden discs.

One thing that is hugely popular in Ireland is RECORD FAIRS, they are held all over the country. Some are guys who are selling off their record collections, others are traders in the vinyl business and condition/prices is fairly good.

Hi David, as has been said already Tower Records and HMV have never sold used (secondhand) vinyl. Also, there is a second Tower Records in Dublin (which is twice the size of the one you were in). You missed out on our 'local' records... Freebird Records (have used vinyl) who are open for 40 years or more, Spindizzy Records (have used vinyl) over 20 years and another local chain with about 25 record stores nationwide called Golden Discs.

Hopefully you had a pint of Guinness in Dublin to make up for the disappointment of the vinyl store there !

You know, as long as we have been collecting records(60+ years for me), we probably have almost all the records we've wanted, so, there isn't too much out there which we don't already have.

I am a bit confused by your latest video as HMV and Tower Records were historically sellers of new products and Tower Records especially made its name and reputation in selling "new releases" at discounted prices and for their deep catalog they stocked in their inventory.

@@MichaelRMarshall1 HMV wasn’t a surprise and I know the Tower of the 70s-80s was always new recordings (no one sold second hand much), but I thought the current Tower in Japan (for example) did carry second hand records.

I don't see much point in CDs anymore as a digital alternative to LPs when you have sacds and hi res streaming, just my opinion!😮😊

Tower Records. HMV. Haha, typical vinyl tourist experience. Like a European vinyl collector stepping into a Walmart or Best Buy store and expecting to find hard to get records.
There are great well curated and presented private owned record stores throughout Europe but, as usual, you have to inform yourself beforehand to know where to go and be successful
There is nothing like buying records in a good brick and mortar store, right?
