Brazil started to quarantine a couple of days ago and all Brazilians got the viral invitation through social media to go to their windows at 8pm and sing “Because He lives” together!
Many years ago I injured my back and could not function well enough to keep a job. My wife and I had two teenage children. I made life miserable for them with my attitude. To keep some semblance of peace in the family I still attended church but never paid attention. Then in one evening service I heard the phrase Because he lives and then the next line, I can face tomorrow. That totally changed my life. I found a job I could manage and have praised God ever since.
I grew up listening to Gaither Homecomings, Women of Faith and Billy Graham. My parents were missionaries under YWAM and you could expect that the woofer was always loud with Christian music, especially on Sunday mornings. Although this in no way meant that I had an ideal life growing up, as shaky as my upbringings were, these experiences laid the foundation of my faith in Christ, for which I am forever grateful to my parents. No matter how much I swayed I always found myself longing for Christ. Listening to songs such as this brings back a lot of memories❤

I am brazilian and I remembered the first song I performed was because He lives in Portuguese. My beloved grandmother first heard me singing this song when I was 12 and she loved this song. She’s dying and I’m recording it so she can hear everyday on her final moments. I believe because He lives, one day I will see her again.
This is such an awesome song. I listened to it weekly when I was in Iraq. I got so much strength from it. It gave me courage then. The song continues to do so.

So glad that a previous classmate (Bill Gaither) is still alive for God and his work. I had two wonderful years at Anderson (ACTS). It is the only place besides home that I have ever been homesick for. All the faculty and students were so friendly. Even at 86 I still have wonderful memories of Anderson. My maiden name was Nation.

Both of my parents heard this song when I performed it with the First Baptist Singers in Bartlesville Oklahoma when it first came out. I was so glad they did. They are both in Heaven now. They hear me singing it all the time around the house.
This is not Guy's daughter but he is always very gentle and loving with little children when I have seen him. My great-granddaughter at age 5 was totally captivated by his performance and then seeing him in the hall. Very special!
My dad would always listen to Gaither while driving me and my sisters in the car growing up. This is still one of his favorite songs of theirs. I’m still fortunate enough to have my dad around but I just know that one day I’ll be bawling my eyes out to this song when the Lord takes him home.
