    British english is the best, no discution about that.

      American English accent is actually older than British :-)

      BFFlores And that's why in America survived the old British accent ( with Rhotic sound ), while in most of Britain it changed dramatically through many reforms. That's why American accent is pretty similar to Canadian one and to some Irish accents, but not to British. Though American spelling (for example colour -> color ) was made up.

    • @andrewsmith74

      Why did Americans change the spellings of many words?

    • @Leo-vr3bg
      @Leo-vr3bg 8 років тому +4

      Because they wanted more literate people, so they changed spellings to what they sound like, they also campaigned for women to be speeled wimmen.

    • @zmast333
      @zmast333 8 років тому +14

      I'm italian, that's exactly how i say it. Maybe, as i think Rodolfo is suggesting, the last A is somewhat more open than the /ə/. But, since we don't have so many slightly different sounds, even if you say /ə/ (which doesn't exist in Italian), people will hear /a/.

    • @Wysch
      @Wysch 8 років тому +8

      Yea, well, try to pronounce the "ee" sound shorter, more into "pittsa". It's not like when you say the name "Pete", it's more like when you say "Pittsburgh", if you know what I mean. Just don't forget the emphasis.

    I dunno why Broccoli became a english word when is Italian the same way as Pizza is XD
    (by the way i didn't got much the difference in pruninciation.. you spell it nearly identical as the normal Pizza word!, maybe too much time with italian friends? i know we can be some kind of desease when we talk and infect other people with our way to say things..XD )
    When i was in ireland someone had the guts to tell me QUATTRO was a english word!! would you believe it?.... i was shocked to death.. i mean... c'mon.. quattro it's totally italian even if american/english people got it into their vocabulary it doesn't mean it's english.
    But i had jewerly right!!! when i was a children i think i become stupid just to understand how to say that word, but after many videogames... i was enlighted XD

    Hi i'm from Singapore and thankfully i had great english teachers in school who taught me to pronounce these words the way you do, british english is supposedly our lingua franca. I love your videos and would like to know if pronunciation should be pronounced as pro-noun-ciation, because that was what one of my teachers told me in primary school.

    • @kun00
      @kun00 8 років тому

      No, it is pro - nun - ciation. However, us native speakers often mispronounce it as pro-noun-ciation. So even if you do, it will be fine. But again, the correct pronunciation in pro- NUN-ciation.
