- This is a brief discussion of the fundamental motions of the thumb at the carpometacarpal (CMC), metacarpophalangeal (MCP), and interphalangeal (IP) joints. I define the planes and axes specific to the thumb and how the relate to the planes of the fingers. I explain of internal rotation and external rotation are related to flexion, extension, abduction, adduction, opposition, and reposition.
I would love to see a video explaining the movements of supination/pronation/adduction/abduction/inversion/eversion on the foot.
