I love the idea that you put little notes in their lunch kits.....My sister had four boys, one in particular used to write her tons of letters and she took the time out to answer every one of them. Unfortunately, she passed in July and he holds onto those letters like they are his most prized possession. He takes comfort in reading them as it brings a smile to his face. Keep on creating loveable moments with your children.

Chiming in on the reading vs audio book discussion. The act of reading creates new neural pathways in your brain which allows you to process information quicker and learn faster. Listening to a book gives you the same information as reading but without the added benefit of creating new neural pathways. ...So, Wayne is correct!
Also for the child actual reading is important for them.
