Saving up in the UK to afford one of these on an average salary would take about the same time it's not all rosey in these supposedly richer countries.
Congrats on the new card! Have you tried the ' Forest enhancement mod ' yet? There are few addons to help 'control' vegetation. It helps make cities look more like cities.
I also switched to a 4090 last week, and I got to say, it is quite amazing (coming from a 3070Ti). Same thoughts process as you, with the addition of considering VRAM. Initially I was going for the 4080, but as games tend to use more and more VRAM, I ended up buying the 4090 as it as more VRAM than the 4080.
Been watching a lot of your videos ever since I got into Flight Simulators. I've also looked up a lot of "improve-your-graphics" videos on UA-cam and beyond, but the settings you mentioned in the beginning of the video shot my FPS from mid 60s to high 100s. Absolutely insane! I love it. (W/ RTX 3080)
Congrats on your purchase! I've been using a 4090 in VR for a while now and that's not using frame generation but it's an absolute game changer for VR as it makes it possible to run 2500 x 2500 per eye displays in high settings in MSFS and it looks absolutely georgeous. I had switched back to DX11, so thanks for the reminder for DX12+FG, I'd forgotten that for the flat screen. 👍
I got a 4070 TI last year and what you said. Total game changer. Had to upgrade the CPU as well because it could not keep up with the card. If I get any short stutter, it is now because the servers cant deliver fast enough when flying low in a military jet.
I also have 4070 Ti and I love it ❤ With DLSS 3.0 and Frame Generator in 4K I have from 80 to 120 FPS in Fenix A320 depending on location. I switched from 3060 Ti and the difference is amazing. If you mainly use PC for MFS then I strongly agree Frame Generator is the game changer. Sure I would prefer 4090 but its price was way out of my budget.
I have a pny 4090.I am a vr user upgraded from a 3080 and its a huge difference,All the 4090s are pretty much the same so dont worry about not getting the most expensive one,The Zotac card will serve you just fine.
Congratulations brother! You made a good purchase for sure. I really like mine it's a huge upgrade on everything for my setup, not just MSFS. The one thing I would heavily advise caution on is the power connector on the card itself. These connectors are known to be finicky. I wouldn't add any power cable modifications what so ever, no 90-degree connectors, power extension cables, and avoid any aggressive bending or stress on the connector during your cable management. Finally I would also suggest that your 4090 have 3 dedicated PCIe cables connected to it. The card pulls a lot of power and splitting a PCIe cable can be a risky idea. You are also 100% correct regarding the frame generation compatibility. All 40 series cards are equipment with that option. The biggest difference is the 4090 has considerably more vram. If you don't all ready you might look into MSI afterburner over clocking software. You don't necessarily need to overclock your card, but it's nice to make sure the voltage is unlocked so you're able to get 100% of the card when it's needed. If you do decide you want to try out Afterburner, just make sure you get it from MSI's official website. There was a fake version of the software going around a while ago that had malicious software in it.
Just bought one as well. Went for the optimisation default using Geforce experience. All settings on high DLSS on. Went from 40FPS with a 3080to well over 100FPS. Drops to 40FPS at busy airports. A real game changer for me. Graphics are pin sharp in 2D with DLSS on.
I installed my 4070 yesterday as well and what can I say. For wqhd no higher card is necessary. I can land on KLAX from Ini with FSLTL and Fenix and this brings constant 60 locked fps. By using an older 10th Gen I 9
Very nice upgrade captain! I think that your micro stutters might be due to your CPU. Cause in order to really take advantage of a 4090, your CPU needs to be recent, otherwise you can experience bottlenecking.
This is exactly true. The 4090 is a very demanding gpu. I was running a 13600k and even it was causing a bottleneck. I upgraded that to the 13700k and the lagging went away.
@@danilosakovic8243 only issue I’d have is the boards melting and ruining the chip. I’m sure that’s going to be fixed. But it’s also just very slightly faster than the intel 13700k from what I saw. Like only a few frames. Is it a bigger difference in game?
@@jsawyer1181 apart of Asus it is resolved and it is really only in high oc mem profiles... So don't worry about it unless you go crazy oc. 13900k is better all around cpu but system and cpu it self is not cheap. But over 13700k I will always get 7800x3d and MSI board
Hi Emmanuel, I am on a 4080 and I was very annoyed by the stutters you mentioned when moving around fast. That is due to the frame generation. I turned it off and switched back to DX11 and still get a decent fps around 50 with my card. With your card you should definitely get 60+ which is enough for a smooth experience.
I have a RTX 4080 and I don’t have that problem maybe your ram is on the limit , try to turn off the traffic and use a traffic addon they are very very ram heavy
@@gtafs3 Thanks but this is regardless of traffic. With the exact same conditions, frame generation produces this “lag” and jumping when panning around fast with the mouse.
Happy to see your up and running with photogrammetry. Didn’t realize u had it turned off with your previous videos. Interestingly, i have a a RTX 3070 and my photogrammetry is active with most other settings ultra high and i have no issue. But i do like the idea of a 4090 graphics card. Maybe I’ll take the plunge! By the way, that airfield on the left when making Canarsie approach is Floyd Bennett field.
Hi there. Congratulations on the new card. I have one too and had a 3090 before and the difference is amazing. With only the Fenix or the PMDG frame rates are perfect. But then come other mods, like FSLTL for instance and then you feel the limit of the card again.
Great cards! I got myself a RTX4080 and DX12 with FSR indeed gave a lot more performance. However, DX12 still has a super annoying bug with occasionally disappearing ground textures at the airports. That plus screen tearing that was a bit hard to manage even with v-sync (I don’t have a GSync monitor) made me go back to DX11. Still getting very decent frame rates with it though!
@@matthiasschnetzler7395 Yep, it’s been confirmed to be DX12-mode related for months and unfortunately there’s no fix for now other than reverting to DX11. Annoying but what can we do…
The usual no 1 reason you don't get better performance is that MSFS is so CPU limited that the GPU doesn't get fully used. So frame generation is really a life safer here :) Apart from that you can crank up all the settings that are not CPU dependent and enjoy it. It varies but I found that changing the Fenix settings to use the GPU for display rendering gave me 2-3 frames more as well.
Congratulations on your purchase. That does make a big difference. I actually got myself also a Inno3D 4090 a couple of days ago, also without the RGB disco lighting. The 4090 is a real game changer with it’s 24Gb memory. In windows 11 there’s the same option in the Graphics settings. What I also did is turning off the Anisotropic Filtering in the MSFS and in the NVCP turned it on to x16. And least but not least I switched the Framerate Limit to 50%. It is as smooth it can be.
Congratz on the new card. I am a little surprised that the Nvdia RTX3080 dit not work with you. Although I do not have KJFK jet, I do have Manchester, Brussels and London Heatrow and have no problems at all and everything on Ultra, with GSX and FSLTL Live traffic in combination with Justflight FStrafic. Maybe it is my SSD of other hardware which makes the difference. But I am wondering why with some people it just works and with others not.
I am on a 1440K 60Hz Monitor. Got a 4070 TI Super, with a 10900K. Very happy with the performance. The combination works very well, very smoothly for me.
Having the extra vram also helps. I’ve flown into a few sceneries that us up to 20gb. Not having enough vram can also cause stutters. Great card, enjoy.
Thanks for this video, very insightful. For the question of 'which RTX 4090 to buy', when I bought my RTX 3090 a while ago, I looked a little bit into that issue and found that some of the cheaper models have occasionally been reported to be having poorer cooling quality, which may lead to reduced performance. Either way, your card seems to be operating fine - congrats on your purchase.
There is an Nvidia driver issue. There is zero reason a 3070 shouldn’t run MSFS perfectly on Ultra settings. There is a serious cache issue, not inside MSFS, that is for pre cache of scenery. Nvidia cache is hitting an over flow state for ALL games. Every time a driver is updated the cache is being limited to 1 gig. When it is full, the stutter begins, from read write slowdown across the video bus… this is damaging peoples computers by over heating them. I found I have to go and manually change the Nvidia cache from 1 gig to a min of 10 gig. I set mine to 100 gig and can use my VR… again… yes, my VR was getting stutter when I changed from a 1080 to a 3080. Weird right. My 1080 works perfectly, but a 3080 doesn’t? I also have to manually go to the Nvidia file and delete the cache files or the stutter returns. I have a weird feeling this was done deliberately to get people to buy a replacement card. They don’t have good sales right now because the crypto currency crash.
Emi, this is absolutely hilarious, I've had 4090 for close to 6 months now, I always thought Frame Generation is tied to DLSS and couldn't be selected with TAA and was just on DX11 till now, but wow was I f'ing wrong lmao. Thank you for this lol
I upgraded to the MSI RTX 4090 Gaming Trio X and .... A huge game changer! You are correct. The smoothness of the sim is amazing now and the visual look incredible. I wen from a MSI RTX 3080 Gaming Trio card to the 4090. Well worth the money!
I recently upgraded from 3070 to 4070 and I can tell you, the difference is also night and day, believe me , no need to go all the way to 4090 . I am honestly experiencing such a huge difference, settings 2k on ultra wide monitor, TAA, DX12 and rtx turned on via nvidia , almost everything on ultra high in sim and so far smooth as butter, I paired my 4070 with i7 10700k, 32gb 3600 mhz ram and windows 11
Hi Emi!! Have you tried it with PMDG 737?? I’m still sticking to TAA due to the blurring at the 737 screens - mainly the numbers. That annoys me a lot… have a nice weekend!!!
I too fly with a 4090. Frame Generation is by far one of Nvidia's best technologies in recent years, it's fantastic. I do have DLSS off in a majority of games due to the blurriness and artifacts.
I currently have an RTX3080 Founders Edition paired with my I-7 12700K and 32GB DDR5 RAM. I am seriously thinking about getting the RTX4080 soon. Right now, Amazon has the PNY RTX4080 under MSRP for $1149USD and I currently have $115USD cash rewards on my Amazon Visa credit card I can use towards a purchase. I am waiting until I have $150USD cash rewards so I can get the GPU for $1000USD. Then when I make my purchase on Amazon with my credit card I will get 5% cash back rewards for the purchase, essentially another $50USD cash rewards. So with tax, I should be able to get the card for a net of about $1000USD. I will then try to sell my RTX3080 for about $400USD so that a $1200USD GPU only costs me about $600USD out of pocket.
Hi, I bought an RTX4070TI after a 3080TI, and the frame generation make a big difference! More than 60 FPS on 4K ULTRA settings, with the PMDG 737 and the Fenix A320, in bigs sceneries airports! The only issue I have is that I couldn't use the Nvidia filters with frame generation, the sim crash!! (I have an I7 9700KF CPU)
Just wait til you try a 4090 in VR. I am waiting for my Pimax Cystal, currently using a Pimax 8KX. I'll never go back to a flat sceen... I have spent years constantly twigging old computers to achieve performance and graphics, thanks to my 4090 that has stopped. - Thank's Emanuelel, Greetings from Australia.
I find it interesting you see such a difference. I have a 3090 right now and 90% of the time I'm being limited by the main thread on my Ryzen 7 5800X3D CPU, not my GPU. I pretty much have everything on the GPU side set to Ultra with no effect on perf, but need to turn down CPU heavy things like traffic
Thank you very much for this. I got my pc a week ago and haven’t turned on dlss frame gen because I didn’t realize I needed to reset my pc after turning on dx12. I was getting 20-30 fps at the flytampa Las Vegas scenery and now it feels like 60+
That's the plan! The card is a keeper for sure! I believe there are quite some youtubers (not pointing at any one in particular!) who simply order such a card to use it for 14 days and then return it to the store. I certainly don't intend to do that.
Your next step is the 7950X3D :) Frame generation does double your performance, but it's highly dependent on your base FPS, i.e. whatever you get before adding Frame Generation into the mix. Your 9900K is probably really struggling here. If you look at the debugging FPS window in MSFS (which always shows the *pre* Frame Generation FPS stat), you'll probably see you're limited by "mainthread" which is the CPU. Upgrading to a 7800X3D or 7950X3D will greatly improve your base FPS, which will then get doubled by Frame Generation. Just make sure you get some nice EXPO-supported 6000MHz CL30 RAM with it (Trident Z Neo (Neo specifically)) are a great kit that will work just fine) Deciding which GPU to get really comes down to your specific system, if you're heavily CPU limited, upgrade to any 40-series won't improve your framerate outside of turning on frame generation. Combining that with a better CPU will improve both your base frame rate, and frame generation will double your frame rate. If you upgrade to a 7800 or 7950X3D for example, a 4080 will basically be good enough for getting similar performance to what you're getting, because the GPU is so good that now you're CPU limited. Just about deciding what to get.
Nice video, but it would have been useful to see an FPS counter on the screen. I can see that it looks smooth, but I have no idea what your frame rate actually is. I suppose if it looks smooth, that's all that matters, but still, it would be nice to get some rough idea of the numeric improvement from the 3080 to the 4090 on your system.
@@danilosakovic8243 Is that even when you're in a plane like the Fenix, in a place like JFK, running at 4k, with everything on Ultra and a traffic addon like FSLTL or FS Traffic?
No significant difference, few fps but that difference is eaten by rtx 40series card frame generation. 5800x3d is OK if you have Am4 system. 5800x3d is OK if you want to buy new Am4 system but on budget, 7800x3d is better if you planing to last bit longer and not to lose value over time. I have both systems, so you can trust me.
Finished watching this video and immediately went to check my settings… somehow all this time I thought I was using DLSS with my 4080 but I was NOT 😅 Turned it on and went from 40 FPS at FSDreamTeam’s KORD to 100+!! What an improvement! Thanks again Captain!! 🤘🏻
Thanks for this video, Emanuel. I have replaced my 3090 with 4070 Ti and can confirm the benefits that frame generation is giving to the MSFS. What I am missing in your video are details to your settings because you can easily CPU bottle neck the 4090 by setting higher values of objects and terrain level of details and traffic options such as airport objects and road vehicles. You have not the best CPU in your system and it would be nice to see what settings are you using here.
Wonder how DX12 will perform overtime, I saw lots of people complaining about it due various bugs. This could really help me in the future when I get a better screen, right now I have 1080p one and my 4080 just doesn't care how much I crank up the settings in any game 😂 it barely heats up to start slowly spinning its fans.
You deserve this and more, man! Congrats! It’s my dream GPU. Mine is an old AMD RX580 that overheats daily (if not 5 times a day), where I can’t play a game and watch a video at the same time. Unfortunately I can’t fly during summer days (it gets up to 120F where I live) and can only do very short night flights. Hopefully prices will go down soon…I really miss Boeing. Keeping memory fresh with daily dose of CBT and 737NGDriver ❤
I wonder if it's not just a matter of increased VRAM (12->24). I recently changed my 3080Ti to a RTX 3090 (used, almost same price now) exactly for the reason to improve performance in heavy sceneries and there is also a massive difference. In heavy sceneries I get around 16GB of VRAM usage now, so 12GB was clearly not enough. Of course the 4090 is also much faster, so there is extra benefit, but as for the stutters and unusable sceneries I think the main reason was that 12GB of VRAM was simply not enough.
Hi, first of all, thank you for this very informative and clear videao about the GPU, looks really great. But I don't think that the dev's will stop paying attention to performance as not every user is going to be able to afford a 4070-4090. All the best for your type rating and have a nice day!
I have a 4070, let me tell you that frame generation doesn't simply double the frame rate. If there are little skips, little micro-pauses (and it's MSFS, there are ALWAYS little micro-pauses), the 4070 isn't gonna be enough to fix that, those little skips and pauses are still there, in fact they feel even MORE grating to me. It isn't going to make your Fenix A320 that previously had you down to 15fps over big cities run at a nice smooth 30fps, the skips and micropauses will still be there ruining everything and input-lag will still be just the same as it always was, making it feel very much still like you're running at 15fps. You HAVE to find a way to minimize the micropausing first. When those things are not spoiling everything, THEN it's good.
My 4090 took some tweaking to get it best with my 12900. Simply cannot fly NYC with Samscene, LGA, FSLTL and real weather addons in VR. It’s still horrific. With this new driver, I’ll try these 2D settings in DX12 (hopefully no ctds) and see if it improves the VR experience. Thx! UPDATE; I tried these exact settings and immediately got CTD when starting a flight! DX12 is the culprit, even with this new driver. Back to DX11 and all is well (but only around 30-45 fps). Oh well.
Frame Generation is just a crutch though that also reduces visual quality quiet a bit, especially during fast camera movements. The bigger problem with the MSFS is actually the mainthread that just clogs your CPU. Even with a 5800X3D FPS drop below 30FPS without frame generation, because the mainthread on one of the CPU cores just limits everything else. No matter how much performance the graphics card has left, no matter how much idle cores your CPU has overall. I don't think that even something like an 13900K would fix that. Also for the 4090 the version very much doesn't matter as long as the cooler is good enough. The voltage is fixed by Nvidia anyway, so even the more expansive versions can't really push the clock much outside of what the chip can take with the set voltage limit and that is a lottery anyway. So you might end up with a "cheaper" version running faster than a more expansive version.
The lead-in lights are an incredible addition to JFK and the first I've seen in over three decades of flight simming! Nice job inibuilds. I agree, that is an amazing approach due to the curving flight path along the Belt (Shore) Parkway. It looks awesome to watch from the ground as well. I lived in the area for several years. Also fun flight I've flown IRL (small GA aircraft) is from Republic Airport (KFRG) to the Hudson river corridor. JFK tower keeps you below the Class B at 500' MSL until approaching the Hudson. ATC actually says "at or below 500", but I stay as high as possible! 😆It's the only time I've ever flown at 500' for any length of time....along the beaches. Fun flying, but you have to be on your toes at all times. 😂 Enjoy the 4090, it's an incredible card and gives me a very enjoyable experience in VR (coming from a 3080), with DCS and MSFS (the only things I use it for).👌🏾
Can anyone confirm if you can fly this visual into JFK with the lead in lights using the default scenery or are those lead in lights available only with a third party one?
On another note, have you tried using the RTX 4090 in an AI traffic heavy environment, e.g., with 50+ AI airplanes (FS Traffic/FSLTL/AIG) in the air? What were the results? My RTX 3090 would usually let me fly quite ok at KJFK and similar places with high graphics settings unless with traffic. Traffic has always been the killer.
I get between 60-80+ in the air and with a 4090 and FSLTL +50 AI planes without frame gen on, with frame gen on i get 110+. It can drop to around 40 on the ground at major airports though, but even then it feels pretty smooth.
@@f0rce593 Yes, but as the RTX 4000 series has the capability of adding additional frames and as such boosting the FPS, it should remove the CPU bottleneck - and it apparently does it well.
Heya Emanuel, I also have a 4090, recently with the older drivers have been making my game crash with dx12. The new ones seem better, not sure yet, which NVIDIA drivers do you use?
Wow, a lot of people talking about how much of a upgrade 4090 from a 30 series card is, meanwhile I’m out here on my 1660 struggling to pull 15-20fps on med-high or even less at some of the busier airports. Would love a new gpu but got too many things to sort out before that. Sure the graphics are nice and all, but this frame rate takes me back to playing fsx on my old laptop.
Captain, Unfortunately MSFS you will never get everything perfect whatever Graphic card you have, there will be a some issue, therefor it is my personal opinion there is no need to spend so much money for graphic card, so far I never seen anyone 100% happy with this SIM, I just simply buy a decent card for MSFS.
I recently upgraded to a 4070Ti, along with a new motherboard, i9-13900KF CPU, 32 gigs of DDR5, and a new heatsink, so basically everything! The 4070Ti is a great improvement over my 1070Ti, but I'm still fiddling with the settings. The difference with your setup is that I use DLSS. I'll try TAA to see how that works. With frame generation enabled, I usually get between 80 and 140 FPS. And no, I can't run everything on Ultra on my 4K monitor. My main issue at the moment is with the CPU. The i9 runs very, very hot and can easily hit 100 degrees Celsius. It is supposedly capable of doing that without problems, but I don't like it... I'll boil my water elsewhere! When it gets in the 85C plus range, it enables the "thermal throttling" function, which essentially limits the CPU output to let it cool down. So I use the Intel Extreme Tuning Utility to help keep things cool, since I can switch between maximum power, normal use and energy saving modes. I use CPU maximum power on takeoffs and landings in very demanding graphic environments, Toronto Pearson is my benchmark, and energy saving mode for 90% of the flights. Energy saving mode keeps the temps in the 50-70 range, normal use between 60-75 and maximum power will easily put the CPU in the 80 plus range. To monitor how things are going under the hood, I bought a small utility program called FPS monitor, which opens a small box on the screen and shows FPS of course, but also CPU and GPU loads and temperatures in real time. Keeping the temps under control usually limits thermal throttling between 0 and 2% of the flight duration. Overkill probably, but it gives me peace of mind over a rather costly investment.
You should look into setting a short term duration power limit in your BIOS to 253 Watts. Also, you might want to research into under volting. I have the same CPU as you and it seems to run pretty well after limiting the power. I have a similar setup to you but with a really old GPU (1060) and I'm thinking about getting either a 4070 Ti or 4080. I'm interested to know, if you stick everything on Ultra on your 4k screen, what sort of FPS would you get at JFK or Heathrow in the FBW or Fenix A320 with AI maxed out and DLSS3 turned on?
Not sure if the card is the issue… a 3080 should work perfectly. It doesn’t. Nvidia has an issue. I’m not sure if this is deliberate to get people to buy new video cards. The software updates create a problem of video cache overflow. The cache is set to small when the driver is updated. THIS IS THE PROBLEM. I know this is the problem because I’ve gone in and deleted the files left inside the Nvidia cache and increased the size of the video cache from 1 gig to 100 gig and ALL my games work again. It was recommended by another simmer to make it 10 gig min. 10 gig worked, I made mine 100 gig to make sure it didn’t over flow. NOTE… when I flew numerous different aircraft in one day… like 20 different aircraft, it overflowed even with 100 gig. This means you have to regularly go into the Nvidia cache and delete the files. Note… this is not the cache inside MSFS. That is for pre- scenery cache. Nvidia cache is in the Nvidia folder called cache.
There's a great mod out there that let's any rtx cards have frame generation. I've got the 3080ti and I've now got 60 to 80 fps in the most demanding payware Airports with lots of apps running in the background
Great example of frame gen! I wonder if having more than 12GB of ram is meaningful? If FS2020 is trying to use, say 12.6GB of VRAM and you have a 3080Ti, it’s a mess. Having *almost* enough ram is frustrating.
The 4090 is an amazing card, especially for vr. I personally went with the gigabyte gaming oc version and have been very happy with it. It really brought the sim to life. I came from a asus 3090 strix and what a difference. Finally can play flight simulator the way I’ve been wanting.
I'll surely give VR another try when I get the chance. Now that the framerate problem that plagued me in VR is hopefully a thing of the past I'm excited to see what it will end up being like.
@@A330Driver the 4090 won’t disappoint. This card finally got it to work right at ultra settings. I’m still fine tuning mine but it’s definitely a great experience. You’ll love it!
I'm really thinking about what to do... currently, I've got a RTX 3090 Ti X. It's obviously very strong, still I sometimes get fps issues. Now, what? Buy a 4090, loose over 1000€ when selling a not even a year old graphics card? Or getting a 4070/4080? Maybe I get better MSFS issues, but what if the fps in other games are worse then..? And most important, how to tell your parents that the computer you told them was perfect (at the time it was really the best) is not outdated?
Great video as always. Here in Canada those GPU's are still selling for between 2200$ to 2500$. Why they are that price I don't know, someone is getting very rich. Just under a year ago I built a new PC, a 12900K with DDR5 6600 and I recently upgraded the CPU to a 13900K as I won it in a give away. However I'm still using my RTX 3090Ti 24GB which cost me 2100$ directly from EVGA a year ago. I'm going to wait until the next generation or until at least the prices come down...
Prices are very high indeed at the moment and it hurts to spend that much on a graphics card. But well, what's the options if you want good performance. Most 4090s sell for those prices you mentioned here as well, but if you keep an eye out with a bit of luck you'll find something at a better price like mine. I just checked the shop where I bought it again today and the price was back up at 1900€ compared to the 1650€ I paid just a week ago when I placed my order. It's insane...
You're lucky to be a pilot and from Germany! As a poor engineer in Turkey, 4090 would cost me 6 months of income thanks to Erdo
I'm really sorry to hear that. I hope things will improve in Turkey soon!
Here in Germany, you need also a couple of Month's to save the Money to buy this Grafik Card. It's not only a Turkey thing :)

Congratulations for the graphics card, enjoy it! I also had a 3080 TI and recently I bought an RTX 4080 and the difference is incredible.
Indeed it is! Frame Generation is just a totally different league!
Congratulations on your purchase! I went for 13700k with 4080 FE for my new setup, the sim looks really awesome, everything is so smooth🔥
I just upgraded from the 9900k to the 13900k Captain 👍
7800x3d is way to go for msfs
Congratulations on your purchase! That is the dream of many simmers for sure! At the moment I have the RTX2080 Super.
Hi there. Congratulations on the new card. I have one too and had a 3090 before and the difference is amazing. With only the Fenix or the PMDG frame rates are perfect. But then come other mods, like FSLTL for instance and then you feel the limit of the card again.
Ai traffic is cpu intensive, cards don’t help much. I also have 4090 and notice that as well
Great cards!
Oh, didn't know that the disappearance of the airport ground texture is related to dx12, thanks!
It is not the DX12, but the simulator, that’s not optimized for it yet. The sim is still in beta, when it comes to DX12.
So frame generation is really a life safer here :)
Apart from that you can crank up all the settings that are not CPU dependent and enjoy it.
I certainly need to play with my settings as well. Thanks for your suggestions!
You must be using 4k. My VRAM usage never goes above 12-13gb. Either way don't have everything maxed out!
@@thatguy7085 Do you have a link to a manual on how to do what you described above?
@@deepsky3001 it was another sim guy that figured in out. I think it was ‘nocturnal’. I’ll check.
Congrats EMI!! Awesome video as always. Will use this as a guide while I enthusiastically await the arrival of my 4090😊
Great demonstration and explanation! Thx for the video.
Emi, this is absolutely hilarious, I've had 4090 for close to 6 months now, I always thought Frame Generation is tied to DLSS and couldn't be selected with TAA and was just on DX11 till now, but wow was I f'ing wrong lmao.
Thank you for this lol
Hahaha, great it helped! 😂
You spent that much on gpu and did not investigate all options for 4 months.... Oh
Gotta love that frame generation! I’m loving my 4080!
Hoping I can get a 4090 too soon. Anyway I talked to you on the ground at Boston yesterday, hope you had a good time!
Lucky you!
Thanks for sharing.
I was getting 20-30 fps at the flytampa Las Vegas scenery and now it feels like 60+
you are the only one uploading regularly and I'm kinda excited to see more of "MSFS 4000 series" videos! keep it up captain
That's the plan! The card is a keeper for sure!
I believe there are quite some youtubers (not pointing at any one in particular!) who simply order such a card to use it for 14 days and then return it to the store. I certainly don't intend to do that.
I keep saying that i wont pay that much for a graphics card, but i find myself inching that way.
Yup man same, upgraded to a 4090/13900ks and honestly, it seems thats whats needed
Just make sure you get some nice EXPO-supported 6000MHz CL30 RAM with it (Trident Z Neo (Neo specifically)) are a great kit that will work just fine)
Deciding which GPU to get really comes down to your specific system, if you're heavily CPU limited, upgrade to any 40-series won't improve your framerate outside of turning on frame generation.
Thank you for sharing your views on the RTX 4090. Good luck with your type rating. 🤞😇
I can tell you fps. From 130 to 180 fps all max with frame generation, all super smooth and all max

Hey Armano, go to 5800x3d or even 7800x3d then you will see difference. Raw power of 4090 generating frame is just half of the impression.
Is there a significant difference between the two?
No significant difference, few fps but that difference is eaten by rtx 40series card frame generation. 5800x3d is OK if you have Am4 system. 5800x3d is OK if you want to buy new Am4 system but on budget, 7800x3d is better if you planing to last bit longer and not to lose value over time. I have both systems, so you can trust me.
Congrats! I did as well two months ago, went from a gtx 1080 to a 4090 and the difference is insane.
Haaaa a lot more than insane, a lot more

Finished watching this video and immediately went to check my settings… somehow all this time I thought I was using DLSS with my 4080 but I was NOT 😅 Turned it on and went from 40 FPS at FSDreamTeam’s KORD to 100+!! What an improvement! Thanks again Captain!! 🤘🏻
Upgraded from a gtx 1660ti to the rtx 4070ti a few days ago, really looking forward to see the difference in performance haha

Good information. Especially regarding DLSS vs TAA
Hab ich vor ein paar Tagen gesagt du bringst immer das passende Video? Ist wieder der Fall, kaufe auch bald eine 4090^^
Das nenn ich timing 😂
Just a heads up. If you get crashes mentioning the graphics card, turn DX12 OFF. Those crashes will go away.
Wow! That 4090 and the approach were the bomb! Just awsome.
Thanks for your kind words! Hopefully you'll be able to sort that out one day and get flying again!
@@A330Driver Thank you Emi

Not sure I’ll be able to afford this on top of a wedding and buying a house this year, perhaps a 5090 will be mine in the future 😂
manuel.the biggest problem of the simulator is that it does not take advantage of the hardware, on the 4090 that I also use it maximum at 60%
I wonder if it's not just a matter of increased VRAM (12->24).
Oh well.
I cannot imagine the “TI” version of the RTX 4090 💪🏻🤩😱
😂 Enjoy the 4090, it's an incredible card and gives me a very enjoyable experience in VR (coming from a 3080), with DCS and MSFS (the only things I use it for).👌🏾
One major difference when using TAA (for me no significant differences on FPS) is that TAA does use more GPU and the card works hotter.
Can anyone confirm if you can fly this visual into JFK with the lead in lights using the default scenery or are those lead in lights available only with a third party one?
I was about to post the same question!
@@ArnoldAaron let me know if you figure it out please and I'll do the same.

Traffic is cpu bound not gpu
@@f0rce593 Yes, but as the RTX 4000 series has the capability of adding additional frames and as such boosting the FPS, it should remove the CPU bottleneck - and it apparently does it well.

Captain, Unfortunately MSFS you will never get everything perfect whatever Graphic card you have,
there will be a some issue, therefor it is my personal opinion there is no need to spend so much money
for graphic card, so far I never seen anyone 100% happy with this SIM, I just simply buy a decent card for MSFS.
The FPS never drops very low, but I get a lot of stuttering! I'll try fine tuning my settings next week.
Welcome to the club sir! 😁
Your enthousiasm is just wonderful. :)
Bought a 4070 Ti and enjoy DLSS3 just like you. Awesome technique.
Being on the fence to buy one... thanks for the video! 💙
I got a 3080, and still has the same performance issues because of the main thread bottleneck
I am new to flight sim and was expecting so much better. the rolling pixelization in the foreground was so unrealistic.
I heared of that mod, it's quite amazing, isn't it?
Incredible it completely changed my gaming experience. Although I could still do with the 4090 extra vram.
Great example of frame gen!
I wonder if having more than 12GB of ram is meaningful? If FS2020 is trying to use, say 12.6GB of VRAM and you have a 3080Ti, it’s a mess. Having *almost* enough ram is frustrating.
Those signup bonuses the airlines are paying comes in handy 🤣😂
Nice! I bought a 4080. It is also a big difference!
Hi, What was your previous card ? I have 2080 and i m evaluating 4080
@@extremehdsimulation5752 1080Ti, major jump!
The level of detail on that runway is insane.
Congrats sir !!!
I feel for you, that is the price of technology we all pay.
yeah its so nice using frame generation. Also it goes very very well when streaming
Looks awesome! That's what I'm hoping for jumping from my 1080Ti lol. Did you buy a new power supply? I was thinking of upgrading to an ATX 3.0 PSU.
TAA plus Frame Generation is basically the best you can get in MSFS on my 4090 anyway.
I have a 4090 too now, what do you recommend for Nvidia control panel settings as I can't decide thanks
Congratulations Captain Emanuel 👍
I bought a 3070TI about a month before 4000 series was announced. Made a difference from 1660 Super but really need to upgrade CPU now
when the video update about the 747 WT avionics?
Next to HAGS it is also important to make sure that ReBar is activated
