I'm not saying that girl group these days didn't work hard because in fact, they did BUT sometimes, people forget how impactful GG is just because they're not active like other groups now. In those days, when some countries still have a little access to internet (even some video is hard to access in YT), they managed to expand their popularity worldwide and paved the way. Sure, their achievements maybe different with other girl groups now but without GG, those popular girl groups won't be here rn. So, people shouldn't forget GG as one of the legendary artist & miracles in Kpop.
SNSD is still the only GG to have won ALBUM of the year... no GIRL GROUP one since then... so yeah they are still on top...
Girls' Generation will always be the n°1 girl group and nation's girl group!!!

Many gg group might be famous but SNSD is legendary. They the only group which all 9 of them had created kpop gg path. None of them dim till now. All of them active & shine in their own respective area. they totally all rounder group.

People should not forget during their debut especially in the US or western market they are competing with Taylor swift and Beyoncé etc when they are at their peak although they all are still same with GG but during that time have you seen all those music video especially for Taylor swift etc and many more songs from Bruno mars etc etc etc…I feel during those time it’s even harder to become popular especially from a girl group in Korea.

Same my dad told me in 2014 that SNSD were the most famous girl group in Kpop that is when my Kpop journey started the first SNSD song I listened to was party it was such a refreshing song that was also a beautiful masterpiece.
I’d argue SES was the first of the big time K-pop groups, but there’s no denying that Girls Generation is the group that made K-Pop girls groups the supernova it is today
For me why Girls Generation is number 1 kpop girl group from 2ne1...
1. Their song not only focus one genre... even most song i love is i got a boy...you can heard so many genre they can combined in one song..
2. They focus to japan marketing... That time japan like a US now,very hard to go inside music industry with Jpop and Anime Song so when outside song very hard to start but it easy for GG and not wait long time to be most successful girl group in japan...because of GG n Big Bang, other group also can marketing in japan...
3. After successful in japan,they start to explore in Europe... Even they start late but they still can win Europe kpop fans...
