My climbing partner and I climbed Wetterhorn early 2000 and found the Class 3 very doable. However, once we were on top and enjoyed the views we went to down climb and at first, we had trouble finding to route for last part of ascent to climb back down. That was a little unnerving at first but once we found it, we were able to down climb. Interesting how I have not found any videos showing the down climb from the summit. Really a great video of your journey.
This angle you captured at 3:19 is something I've never seen any other Wetterhorn video capture, ever before. Actually made me feel far more comfortable tackling this as my first Class 3 peak.
The footage we needed to fully understand what we have coming up for Wetterhorn! Thanks for putting this together and excited to watch you complete the 14ers! (Can't believe you did the Crestone Traverse - we were too scared lol).
Great video! I climbed this a few years back and loved it. Such a fun scramble. It was a little sketchy near the top. I didn't realize there was a path/ledge winding around to get to the top. I just continued straight up that steep section. Coming back down that same way is probably not the wisest, especially coming down just at the lip! When I got to the summit, there was an adorable fat marmot all the way up there on top. :)
That was fun to watch. I climbed it when weather moved in. I had very little visibility. (dumb - i should have descended) I remember that stair case of steps below the summit but check out that sheer rock face on the left! I wasn't able to see any of that on my climb.
For sure, not everyone can do it. Been up there twice to go up that very exposed class 3 pitch to the summit and turned around both times. Just don't have enough mountain goat in my blood, I guess. 😊
Really good video man. Love solo climbers, I'm from Minnesota and do all my colorado climbing solo. Very helpful footage to plan my hiking adventures this summer.
WTF at the beginning I was so confused as to where in Switzerland you found such American-looking signs that point to Wetterhorn and Matterhorn (and they're not even located near each other?), till I realized there's actually peaks in the US that are called like that too. Doesn't help that the landscape looks so similar as well! TIL
Nice! Great video as well. Trying to climb this one this upcoming weekend. Question for video, do you juts set your GoPro up and grab it on the way down? I’m always nervous leaving it.
Some of the best production quality I've seen on a 14er video. You have a great camera too, awesome shots!

Just did this one two days ago. The gully by the rock rib still had a bit of snow. Super fun route. Great video..thanks for sharing!
