I've never seen anyone remove the gussets and bracing material from a sportster frame before. Never thought about it being done. Turned out really good looking. Great job. New sub here.
Lots of cutting, grinding, scraping, and welding... and love the frame mods, especially the middle tube frame you added. I can’t wait to see the final product. 👀 👍
Ah, my weekly fix of Lnsplt doin' the job. Nice work Son. Couldn't help but think the chop would've been easier to do with the frame upsidedown. Then you flipped it for the cleanup. 😂
what is gusset for actually? Doesn't it add to the structural integrity of the frame, and won't you reduce that by grinding it off ? Or is a purely cosmetic thing that HD put on... new to this!
I was thinkin about adding a 1" or 2" bung in my downtube frame legs to increase the rake and this looks like everything I'll have to do to get to that point...lol Can't wait for the wiring harness video...
It is so satisfying to do all of the work yourself and keep all of that money, isn't it? Your frame is so much more esthetically pleasing now that steel wrap is gone, and the tubing is visible.
Nice! I spent about an hour, finding other stuff to do, last weekend, before I finally put the sawzall to the marks I had measured out, 30 times. I took that ugly kickstand mount off too. I picked up one of the sleeker ones from either Lowbrow, or TCBros. Can't remember which, at this point. If you guys want any more stickers from either of those guys, HMU, lol. Nice job on the bike!
I’m just starting out and I got an 03 sporty ....I love the hard tail look but also love the soft ail feel so I bought the slammer shocks for now ,,,,so far I did the sissy bar ,,,blacked out all the chrome ,,,solo seat ,intake ,,,and a few other small things ,,,I’m use to dirt bikes where if you got a stand you got a lift ,,with motorcycles it is a whole new bunch of items to buy and right now I’m trying to save as much as possible until I at least put a good couple thousand miles on it so it’ll hurt less
Looking good. I always enjoy your vids as we are unable to modify bikes to this degree here with getting everything certified. Question tho, is the pillion seat on backwards? Anyway keep wrenching and I'll keep watching.
Living in a house like that in San Jose, (which is probably a million dollar house or more) none of the neighbors have called the HOA to complain. Cali people love to complain. I've lived in NorCal all my life.
Hey I have a great question for you. I am having a very hard time finding mounting bolts for my 2001 sportster. I did the Hardtail like you have. But I cannot find anywhere including the Harley dealer they will tell me what size mounting bolts for the top front of the motor. I have the stud but no nut. And no bolt for the other side. Also for the rear mounting bolts to the frame
What year sporty frame is this? I want to take the neck of my sporty 4-5 degrees and If I cut out all that junk covering the tubes it will be easier and look cleaner.
Shouldn't be an issue. Uses original HD paperwork, original VIN stays on the frame neck, DMV never knows what you did to your bike. That's probably the major reason people use the weld-on hardtail instead of buying a complete aftermarket frame. If you can get the aftermarket frame licensed in your state it's usually a big hassle and is labeled as a "special construction " instead of HD. Weld-on is quite a bit cheaper too.

Subs of both u guys!! Love both your work!!!
Check out the eazy company videos. Think they have a couple videos where they do it. It a pretty common old school chop.
Hola, Amigo!
Fancy meeting you here, lol.
Look to old Triumph frames, and you'll find the roots of what he did, up by the neck.
72 year old biker here, been building for 50 years. So nice to see a younger generation enjoying the art.
That is incredibly brave. I really enjoy your work and the films you make.
Sweet the way you chopped that neck, came out streamlined. Keep chopping and wrenching it’s looking good.
Lots of work bro. Well done! Good to see for others wanna do the same mods to their bike. Step by step footage. Nice one!
Lots of cutting, grinding, scraping, and welding... and love the frame mods, especially the middle tube frame you added. I can’t wait to see the final product. 👀 👍

Me encanta vuestras maquinas... pero lo que mas me gusta es vuestro buen rollo. Un abrazo desde España.

Was this mostly for looks? Because it does have that look now, just as strong but cleaner looking.
Where'd you get the engine mount from? I like the minimalist look of it as opposed the big bulky one that's on there
Making it look easy as always! Best vids
Rad! See you down in San Felipe!!

What year sporty frame is this? I want to take the neck of my sporty 4-5 degrees and If I cut out all that junk covering the tubes it will be easier and look cleaner.
How did you mount the caliper in between the hardtail frame?
Are you able to register a bike like this now that the frame has been really modified? Asking because I did the same to my sporty
bike is already registered and the vin numbers are still on the neck

Hard to tell but will your chain clear the battery box bracket? and /or the stock battery?
I'm sure it will, but if not, i'll fix it. That's why its just tacked welds right now
How many times in one build do you pull the motor and put it back? After the second time...me and my hernia would have to quit.
Too many lol
Cheers!
