- A quick playthrough of Rhythm Quest, a game I made in 48 hours for Ludum Dare 41. The theme was "2 incompatible genres". While I was not the biggest fan of theme I am very happy with the game it produced.

I liked the idea. You should absolutely improve it. Add loot, shop, level, classes etc. And it should be moddable (people can add sound patterns, classes, enemies etc.)

This game is very polished and fun, although very hard. Id like if you could link the music somewhere because it absolutely s l a p s.
They would be hidden away on a drive somewhere and would need some kind of arrangement as they constructed dynamically in the game based on whats happening. I will let you know if I get around to it, and thanks for playing!

This is another plus for why I should continue working on it. A mobile port would be so easy for this game.
I turned and told someone 'he should just make this mobile and sell it' seconds before seeing these comments. The game looks really good, your art is so polished (my biggest struggle). 48 hours... I've got like thousands of hours into my personal project and it's so dirty looking.
Such a creative game, I really wish UA-cam had recommended this to me months ago, as I am a subscriber. I now have notifications on.

I'm literally a skeleton in a chair smashing my boney fingers against the keyboard.
Very fun game, but sometimes it felt like I lost health even tho I hit the note perfectly.
I wouldn't be surprised if that were the case. The way i coded it was very much a hackish get it done fast way. If I make a full version I will be starting from scratch and doing all this properly.

I was actually going to ask how you did the sync! I did a rhythm game too and I didn't anticipate that problem. Fortunately not many players experienced it. Did you do any research on the subject? If you have a definitive solution I'd be super happy to hear it.
It would not hurt if you put a button to put a pause, or a tutorial, because there are times when I press and mark as if I had equibocado or the following "notes" disappear
Yeah, I'm not a big fan of the notes disappearing if you press the note to play them when they're still a measure away.

For the idea to really shine I would add randomised loot drops, a leveling system and hero powers that build up from chained attacks.
