Both the women in Matt's life represent a different part of him and offer something to his life. Elektra represents the daredevil side of him unchecked violent, malicious and masochistic and offers him a liberating and exciting life. Karen represents Matt Murdock the noble, kind responsible lawyer and offers him a nice quiet life.
Don’t know why people hate Karen for Matt. I’d want someone like Karen in life. She knows he’s blind but she looks at him lovingly like she knows he sees her. I think she knows how to act like that around Matt because Deborah in real life is married to her husband who is blind. Great casting 👌.
Agreed. Elektra is a better love interest for Daredevil the vigilante, but Karen is better for Matt the person. And Matt prevents Daredevil from crossing the line and becoming like Frank, Stick, Elektra, Fisk, etc.

The parallels between Elektra and Karen are very interesting in this episode, Karen in the restaurant, eating spicy food and talking childishly about the lights, while elektra is in a room with cold lighting and talking in riddles (feels like a trap because it's a trap, the sad part is that Matt will always get caught on it)
I don't know. I could never get behind Matt and Karen because they still lie to each other. Matt lies about his life as a vigilante and Karen lies about going off and playing detective as well as the fact she murdered Fisk's friend. They also operate solely on their work personas in the relationship, Matt's a lawyer and Karen is the secretary, they work together, and they are friends, but they don't tell each other everything.
The essence of Matt & Elektra's tragic love is that they are perfect for one another except for one fatal flaw: Elektra is a natural born killer and Matt is not - so they can never be together. Matt rejects the urge to kill in both himself and in others, and by making that choice, he will always reject Elektra, who cannot change her innermost nature as an Assassin. Theirs is a doomed romance. It's brilliant that the first half of this season shows what lengths Daredevil will go to to stop a killer (Frank Castle, aka The Punisher), only to be confronted with the woman from his past who showed him that he could never allow himself to take a life.
You guys are out here detailing Elektra's weird vibes and manipulativeness... and I'm realizing that I basically was manipulated by the writing/acting into thinking Elektra/Matt are meant to be, even though she's only just been introduced (to me) LOL. ('I know you', all her references to their past, just showing up in his apartment like she belongs there). Good job show, and good job you guys. 👀😂

Alas, Elektra (Natchios, not Nachos but they do sound similar) does not have superpowers, mainly Sai wielding assassin, a frequent flame of Daredevil, Elektra has worked more like an antihero rather than either side, having worked alongside Kingpin, Wolverine, the Thunderbolts, and even becomes Daredevil herself. Not super comic accurate right now mind you, though the suit change is fine because Elektra's comic outfit was...how you'd expect many female superhero character outfits to be Capoeira is indeed Brazilian, it sometimes is known as 'dance fighting' given its incorporation of dance in their stances, like Karate and Wushu it goes beyond just martial arts and discipline, there's culture to it as well, even a genre of music made from it.
Don't want to get into spoiler territory, but future revelations might offer a different perspective on that conclusion depending upon the definition of "superpowers." In the classic "Elektra: Assassin" graphic novel she certainly exhibits some degree of extraordinary mental ninjutsu, but no indication that's canon in MCU (although it would make a kick-ass streaming show).

I wouldn’t call them similar as most times catwoman is a straight up villain. Also Elektra and Matt having the same training makes it a bit different. Elektra also is way more of a threat to Matt when they fight.
I hope Elektra is in the future of the MCU whether it's the new Daredevil series or other projects. She's such an interesting and ambiguous character with so much potential that I think Netflix missed an opportunity. Her stories deal with the urban and supernatural side of Marvel, she's like a cross between Daredevil and Iron Fist. It works in an urban/ninja context with more down-to-earth stories, as well as in the supernatural with grander ones. In addition, she has connections with great characters like Daradevil, Iron Fist, Deadpool, Wolverine and Doctor Strange
Elektra is an anti hero and one of the best Marvel characters in my opinion. I think she works best with Matt because she's more of an equal. She has the same training as him and has basically been through the same things. She understands what it's like to be a vigilante and because of that she makes him more comfortable, besides that she has a lot of personality and is not afraid to point out his BS when necessary. At the same time, her more violent manner and the fact that she doesn't think twice about killing an enemy makes her and Matt clash a lot, which creates a very interesting dynamic between the two.

In the comics she starts out good but some things happen and she goes through a very particular situation but as I don't want to give spoilers, let's say it changes her perspective. The interesting thing about Elektra is that sometimes she doesn't know if she's a good person trying not to be bad or if she's a bad person trying to do good. And that aspect ties in with Matt constantly questioning his morals. They are very similar but at the same time very different and i couldn't wait to see you guys react to their dynamic.
JJ1 and most of LC1 are very good, but DD and even Defenders can be easily followed w/o those shows as the characters are sufficiently covered in their introduction to Matt. IF1, however, is a direct prelude to Defenders and has character and plot continuity with DD. Unfortunately, it is the weakest of the other series.
When it comes to MCU movies and shows, some are decent, some are great, some are poorly executed, but hey, so are some of the Marvel comic books they originated from. Me, I watch them whether they are great or somewhat decent.
I love the dynamic between what Elektra was pushing Matt to do,and what punisher was aiming for matt to shoot that mob goon. The Moral Difference is that Matt won't cross that line,or will he?
i like that when he was with karen everything was colourful and beutiful but when they finished the date and matt was walking away all you hear are negatives which is one of the reasons that i think he likes being with karen he seems at peace there compared to with elektra
Elektra was trying to make Matt a killer and he wouldn’t allow her to do that and I love him for that, even with punisher he wouldn’t kill the guy on the roof with the gun tied to his hand
Jessica Jones* for sure, the other two it's not as important to watch them all before defenders if you only want to follow Daredevils arc, but you will def get more out of it if you watch S1 of each of them yes. If you try to watch Daredevil S3 before defenders you wont have a clue what is happening as it follows immediatly after and references it a lot in the first half.

Kingpin was mayor for a while in comics. Yes he banned all the heroes and basically united daredevil, Spider-Man, Elektra, Cap, Ironman, Luke cage and others.
Just finished y'alls reaction to The Sound of music which is my all time favorite movie bc I absolutely love Julie Andrews. Another classic you guys should watch that has Julie in it is Mary Poppins this one is closer to my heart bc my mom would always sing the songs from it to me when I was younger and getting to watch it when I'm older and having a better understanding of the story really just makes the movie even better it's definitely my comfort movie and hopefully you guys react to it. ☺

Sorry only in this series for the Punisher! It’s a great time to start watching the Punishers show after this season. It leaps off right after this season. I like Dare Devil, but after watching both I’m just in this series to get story on punisher. Do think they did an amazing job putting Daredevil and Punisher together. Not sure that is easy to do but they did a great job. We’re able to keep both of them looking fairly equal. But yea just like the Punisher story line a lot better. But yes Daredevil is also good.
Putting them together is easy since they have a ton of stories together. Punisher series is ok not daredevil level but entertaining. If by skill level you mean equal they shouldn’t be. Out of the characters in the show it should be Elektra then Matt then Frank. Frank is the better guy with prep and can come up with some great traps though which makes him deadly.

I've said it time and time again. I dislike karen very much, nothing against the actor. It's just the way she was written. I prefer Clare Temple. Even Elektra is better and the actor that plays her Elodie Yung is a Black belt in Karate. In a interview she said that she had been training since she was little.
The Elektra story arch kinda annoyed me. I think part of it is that her personality reminds me of a lesser Vala from Stargate SG-1 and I can't help but wish it was Claudia Black playing her.

You should watch Jessica John's, Luke cage,iron fist and defenders before watching daredevil season 3.
Season 3 is continuation of marvels defenders.
