The Guardians of the Galaxy worked for Marvel because they had already established their grounded, more well known or popular characters first. GotG was a fun side order to the avengers saga. Gunn's new DCU seems too focused on the offbeat, side stuff without enough anchor content established.
The Authority would probably better as a television show like Invincible. Keep all the adult content but put it on different platform like Amazon Prime. Creature Commandos is right around the corner. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for that one.
Agreed given how much adult content is usually in The Authority comics I agree with making it an adult animated series and putting it on a streaming service.
Making it a television show is cool, but it should not be on a different streaming service, because it could confuse people. Keep it on HBO Max with all the other DC content they're making.
They should scrap creature commandos, peacemaker season 2, the authority, Waller and turn paradise lost into a Wonder Woman show. Then they’d be good. Focusing on your a and b list heroes like the trinity/JLA and b list like booster gold and swamp thing will help ensure success for dcu early on.
