Excellent easy to follow instructions. The only thing I would say and it's probably mentioned below and all the comments is This dog house is NOT FOR COLD weather. Proper insulation is a must.
I built one very similar to this one using this video as a guide.
I put a felt roof on it as I had some spare and used coach bolts screwed to blocks underneath as feet to keep it off the wet floor. I also painted the outside with some old fence paint and used second hand screws and nails throughout.
I put it up for £30 on social media and sold it for £25.
It cost me zero to build other than heating and lighting in my workshop.
That's a great design. Simple, straightforward, and very, very rugged construction.
This video helped me so much! I made a cat house with my brother, and you're directions made it so easy! Thank you!
excellent video, Craig explains things really well.
Thanks for the video. I followed your instructions and made the kennel slightly larger for my collie. Turned out a good strong kennel. Thanks again.
I watched this video and made my puppy one. Changed a few things, like over lapping the walls so you couldn't see the ends of the boards, trimmed the doorway, added carpet to the floor. Etc etc. Turned out pretty damn good if I do say so myself, thank you for the idea, much appreciated.
My laziness paid off. Following this video will be quicker than designing my own.
Thanks!
Really excellent, enjoyed watching you work.So calm and humble...Thank you.
Finally a proper dog house. Not one of those modern design bull. Recicled wood and simple af. Good vid
For the ❤ of wood work
This is awesome.I cant wait to start it tomorrow.Thank you
Thanks guys, this is very useful!
Thanks man, it's very cool.
I'm from Brazil and even without understanding English gave me a good idea how to make a house for my dog, especially the roof, I put a board next to the other, I think it would not be so good. The way you did it got a lot better gave me a pretty good idea how to do it.
Sorry my english, blame google translator for the errors kkkkkkkkkkkk
Excellent well explained video, I’m going to make one. Cheers Craig. 👍🏻
Hey, You make it so simple to construct. It came out great and I can't wait to start on mine👍🏻👍🏻
This is so great! I needed a couple of dog houses for my Call ducks. They're so expensive already built and I couldn't afford to buy the lumber. I can get pallets at the local feed store for free. Problem solved! Thank you so much!
simple and easy..well done mate.
This is one of the best videos I have ever seen!!!
I have remolded 25 houses... so I know what he is talking about...
I decided to mute this video...(just because I was too lazy to turn the volume up from the previous video).
I was delightfully surprised that your instruction was sooo good, that I could follow you without sound..
"Bravo" ... "Thank YOU" sooo much for such a Great Tutorial..
Good job
I just love this
wow this is really cool! and you make it look so easy!
That was great. Good job 👍
very good instructions. thank you .... it is something I was thinking of doing.
You make good videos well explained step by step with details, the items and equipment needed. Very good
this is really helpful
I really enjoyed your tutorial congratulations. I live in de Palmas - TO Brazil
Great video! Provide lots of helpful ideas for me to build the home for my boy.
Hey,I made it thanks to ur video,,it costed me about 15€..thank you bro👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
SOME NOTES: The floor is too low to the ground, if its snowing it can mess up the insides. Also it will be cold, because the floor has holes. Cut a plywood piece for internal walls, floor and roof pieces it will help avoid drafts. Also put a rug inside and insulate all the connections with sealant to avoid wind going inside. Before you allow the dog to enter, weather proof the wood with a linseed oil or any other protective solution only from outside. When it dries dog can come inside. After that it will be concidered done, but I'd say it depends on geography of the place. Anyways, maybe someone will need this info.
Thank you so much for the additional info. I'm in southern California and my dog has to go outside. I'm building him a house but am worried he might get cold outside during the coming months.
Parabéns pela clareza da instrução. Foi muito útil. Grato. Saudações.
Pena que eu não tenho os equipamentos. Esquadria, serra tico tico, esses grampos...
Thank you!
Just what I was looking for. Going to start working on mine tomorrow after work. But, going to insulate it ... we're expecting more snow here!
I haven't seen snow since 1999, when I moved to a tropical island. Before that I lived in Alaska for 25 years.
This a really good tutorial, I love the ratchet style clamp! Just want to say not all pallets have chemical on them. Glad to see it’s in cm etc not inches. Me personally for this climate I would put in some insulation. Great job! 🤙🏼🤙🏼
Yes insulation is good for smaller dogs or if there are our all night in it
Top DMS peguei essa idéia 😉👏👏👏👏👏
Thankyou this is best odea for our chatlie
I built a dog house following the steps in this video. very helpful! I would post pictures if I could do this here on youtube
Hi Daniel,
Thanks for your comment! We'd love to see your project, you can share it with us on Twitter @SilverlineTools.
Thanks,
Silverline Team.
Love Craig!
Woop! Woop! Great.....im off to look for a palket lol x
Check with businesses because they throw these things out by the thousands every year.
Craig, an "A" roof allows the heat to escape from the dog's body. You need a flat roof or maybe one with a slight slant...and the floor needs to be up off the ground and no air flow underneath.
I was thinking the same thing but I suppose it all depends on where you live. It would be a bit cold and windy in that for my dog where I live but you could insulate it and make a bit of a base for it if it was going out into the elements. Great wee base though all made from reclaimed wood! Nice one.
Awesome video gonna modify this as we have a cat that likes to sleep in our garden and with the colder months coming I'm going to make a cat house out off pallet wood
BIGBOY'S DIY you can buy insulated cat-housesfor $200.
Type in "insulated cat house", you'll find it.
Use Heat Treated pallets and Not pressure treated as pressure treated is toxic. Great instructional video!

thank you for your video , can i ask . i want to paint the pallet wood processional finish , can you recommend if i need to put something on the wood before applying paint . Also what type of paint would you recommend
I want to see a dog house made into a pallet
This is just superb, I been tryin to find out about "how to build a luxury dog house" for a while now, and I think this has helped. Ever heard of - Ganyan Canicholas Formula - (do a search on google ) ? Ive heard some awesome things about it and my friend got great success with it.
How did he start the cutting curve for the door with the jigsaw?
this is very nice but I would have had the front section overlapping the end pieces of the side to avoid seeing the end grain, or put a trim on it.
Those were my exact thoughts......Then I thought he would put a trim board on the corners. Nice to know KM Writes was thinking it too. Thank You Sir.
Great video , would be good to say how many pallets you needed to use on it
Great Job and Simple work, Nice suit for you, Match for your Tool color.your pencil also Blue, Change Silverline Tools as Blueline Tools.
Thank you I'm going to try and make this quick question how did you make the bottom?
One thing I've not seen mentioned anywhere so far is be mindful of where you get the pallets from. If there have been any chemical spills and your dog takes to chewing it, could be in store for an unwanted bill from the vet.
Olá tudo bem, sou brasileiro e acompanho todos os seus vídeos, parabéns pelo belíssimo trabalho.
There is not a dog on the planet who would not prefer to lie next to you in a warm house, preferably on the bed, breathing in your face:)
But the carpentry work is very educational and excellent.
Hello sir! Big fun of your work👍 my question is this? I want to build a small fence for my dog. But i want to used pallets for this project, it needs to be at least 5ft high. Any good ideas? Thank you
el techo mete tablas pequeñas en vez de meter una tabla grande para que no le filtre agua
If I follow your instructions will my floor of the dog kennel magically appear like yours did? Lol
I enjoy your vids :)
Brilliant what can be built from pallets, learn loads from your videos, could you build a cupboard please with two doors
We're glad you find them informative! We will certainly look into a pallet cupboard project for the next series!
@@SilverlineToolsTV We have now built a cupboard with two doors its on the channel, we hope you enjoy it and find to helpful.

Hey this reminds me uncannily of art attack
And suddenly there was floor! am sure this is the tricky bit?!
Beautiful job but the opening should be a bit sideways ( not in the middle ) so the wind is not blowing directly at the dog and the dog can hide behind the wall - unless you position the dog house sideways.
You can use Wood Prix's plans instructions to build it in the cheapest way.
How do you put a wood floor in it let me know mate
With these Battons
How to make the roof sturdy for a dog that keeps jumping on it?
Did you build the floor first?
How did you fix the walls to the flooring thinking of making this my self
So I have a jigsaw but there’re about 5 pieces missing, does this matter?
Nie rozumię nic po angielsku ,ale facet wytłumaczył mi wszystko !
Was he not in Brookside?
do hounds like kennels?
Would it have been better to have the front and back overlap the sides rather than the other way around so no end grain is exposed to the elements?
After watching this for the second time... I totally agree with you...
I thought he was going to put little 1x2 trim on the front to hide the ENDS...
I think it would have looked better also. It was bugging me for the rest of the video.
do you know how many pallets it would take for me to build this dog house
How many pallets do I need?
Hi. Love this video but the floor is missing. You've mentioned a few times that it's constructed the same as the sides, but you don't show how to connect it to the frame. Could you just mention the procedure for us newbies?
@@apiranawilson Don't be like that. Some people, like myself, need physical visualization and that's okay.
Joanna Sheldon you'll have to UA-cam other dog house videos to see get an idea of how to add or secure the floor. There are multiple different ways to do it; you just have to find which one suits you and your dog.
Will this be waterproof?
I’m a 23 year old girl and have never done any handy work and I want to build a kennel for my new pup and this is so beginner friendly ❤️❤️❤️ Thanque so much
