I was originally thinking you had to cut the original seat, sponge and cover to install this..........what a relief!!!! That is awesome that Honda has it all done for you. You will love that back rest................definately a game changer. All you are missing is your helper (Jeff). Jeff screw.......screw Larry, Jeff bracket..........bracket Larry, Jeff bolt...........bolt Larry........LOL. What a neat little backrest..........now I'm looking and saying it's sure glad that the seat was made to take this rest or one like it. What a nightmare if you had to cut the cover and foam..........you don't want to think about that. Looks awesome!!
Good morning my friend. I had a good laugh when reading your "helper" comments. Yesterday we removed the seat from Jeff's Harley to adjust his backrest. We got the task done and I wish I had made a video. We can turn a five minute job into a national security issue. It's funny as hell but focus seems to be our issue. We might have to put together a monthly video to see how things go. lol. I was happy with the backrest install. Good product and the "Honda Seat" saved the day. I would cry if I had to cut the seat. In the end, all worked out. Now my friend, I am off like a flock of turtles. Thanks again for your continued support, Larry. PS: hope "BOAT" you guys are doing well. lol.
I liked having a backrest for the operator on the bike I had. It would slide forward when there wasn’t a passenger. Nicely done video showing the steps needed to DIY. Enjoy The Journey - Cheers

This is an excellent video showing how to install the Kuryakyn Driver Backrest. I need to buy this Kurakyn backrest and get it installed before my next long-distance road trip.

I have read that a back rest will greatly increase a spinal and neck injury, when a vehicle hits you from behind. Even at a slow speed, because of the backrest's whiplash effect. Safe Travels.

At this point I am unaware of such issues but please keep in mind, I am a small hobby channel that have not researched anything of that nature. Good evening Mark and thanks for checking out the video. Yesterday I power washed the bike completely including the seat. Your question was a good one so I just went and took a look at the seat pocket. The seat pocket was dry and there was no water. The bracket that is installed under the seat fits well through the rubber seal but not tight enough to completely stop water from draining. There was a few droplets of water in the bottom bracket itself. The seat pocket is sealed to the fabric so there is no way water could get into the seat cushion. I would say that there would be nothing to worry about. If you have any other questions, please feel to comment and I will do my best to get you a good answer and pictures if needed. NOT LIKE A HARLEY SEAT ...that seems to be to complicated for me ....... i like the goldwing and how stealthy it is ... but i prefer the rumble of the harley ... ooh thanks larry For helping me with my BACK REST.. my back rest. Was less complicated ..but it still had to take the seat off and have it ajusted as well ...DONT GET ME WRONG ...i like the goldwing.. but larry and i tease. Each other over our bikes .... we went out for a ride last night to just to see how the back rest work and they both seem to work. Great once they were are ajusted to your seat and back .. I RECOMMEND THAT every rider to have one .for back support if you go on long rides 🎉😂
Jeffrey, The Rumble King. My head is still pounding from the exhaust rumble but my back feels great after installing the backrest. lol. It was a fun day and we both got things all tuned in, on our bikes. The ride was fun and we even found a coffee shop. Lets see what today brings. Does water get trapped inside the backrest support pocket (inside the factory seat)?
Good evening Mark and thanks for checking out the video. Yesterday I power washed the bike completely including the seat. Your question was a good one so I just went and took a look at the seat pocket. The seat pocket was dry and there was no water. Thanks Guy. I had a 2017 Goldwing but sold it and purchased this new 2021. Picked it up in Ottawa. That was a long ride. lol.
