@RenaissanceEagle11 I agree totally with your assessment... Go-Go ORIGINATED in DC so it's hard to say someone outside of the DMV could bottle that, take it somewhere else and make it SOUND better than any raw Go-Go sound straight out of DC! I heard ASU's version as well as SCSU's version of this song and its apparent that it's just a SONG to them as opposed to a way of life for those who have experienced it first-hand at Howard.
DAYUM HU... Handle Yo Bidness!!! LOL, y'all crankin' HARD on this one - after all you are in DC so y'all puttin' it out first hand. I LOVE this arrangement and this program looks like it's back on the rise
Howards Showtime Marching Band started doing their rendition of Pretty Girls from Backyard Band not Wale. They have since evolved the original song into what you hear today but it started from Backyard Band not Wale.
My mom's alma mater....I didn't attend Howard but Clark Atlanta, and all I gotta say is I LOVE MY HBCUs...all of em!!! This shit had me hella crunk lol!
@MrBobeaux5 Go-Go is a genre of music, and kind of a subculture really, that is based in the DC metro area. Various commercial artists such as Amerie, Beyonce, and Wale have major hits that have the go-go sound/feel including this tune Pretty Girls. The melody of this tune was taken from a popular tune by a Go-Go band named the Backyard Band which is also called Pretty Girls. Your exact words were "ASU needs to hold a workshop for these boyz!" It seems that HU should do the clinic in this case.
@MrBobeaux5 Wait a minute now. How in the Hillshire Farm are you gonna say Alabama State knows how to do a go-go tune better than Howard? That's just not cool bro. Did ASU's drumline stay true to the rhythm? NOPE. ASU as a band is louder, but Howard as a band is closer to the actual feel of the tune and THAT's where the money's at... ESPECIALLY on a Go-Go tune. Bottom line: ASU jams the tune, but there's a LITTLE something missing. Howard's version jams AND grooves like it's supposed to...
@MrBobeaux5 I don't understand how my comment was made to RenaissanceEagle11 and not you, but my comment was made to you about your assessment... My apologies Renaissance Eagle11.
Man, let's be honest, nobody's arrangement of "pretty girls" can touch this! This here is.....FIRE!!!!!! Straight up go-go like the song! #grooving
ayyyyeeeeee they groovin moe kill , just like the real song
from a non-biased opinion, this is the best arrangement to 'pretty girls' nobody else grooves this song like they do
