Being dangerous and easy to die is what makes Cyberpunk so much more interesting and exciting as a player. I accidentally had my first player kill as Story Teller. It was a very tough fight but they pulled through in the end, except for one. The players had great rolls throughout but so did the enemy. I felt bad, but the players knew what to expect 😅
One thing that was omitted here is that armor in Cyberpunk becomes less effective as it takes more hits, so longer fights get progressively more dangerous. Another thing to note is that a replacement hand (with no mods) costs the same as a pistol in Cyberpunk, which is just 100 bucks.
Oddly enough when offered a medical prosthetic hand instead of a ganic one, she opted for a real one. I did not realize it at the time but she's trying to keep a fully organic character with zero chrome. So when that happened, that was a real shock for her.
Getting a replacement hand is only 100eb, but that isn't quite the full story. To fix the dismembered hand critical injury you would need to either have a DV17 Surgery from a medtech, or pay 1000eb at a hospital to get it fixed. As part of getting the hand fixed, you don't require a hand to replace it, they just clone you a new one for no additional cost.
Is Cyberpunk Red dangerous? My groups 1st session, they decided to go into the combat zone, find an old parking garage and scavenge parts for a car. What happened? There was a biker gang nearby, racing their bikes. The group decided to make the first move and attack them as they passed through. Everyone but the one of the groups solo decided to take cover in the underground lot. The solo fought alone on the ground floor and got absolutely shredder by gunfire. He spent a week in the hospital. Second session The group was scouting an area where some gang members were hanging out. The groups Fixer walked right by the front of where the gang was, looked in and got called out for being nosey. What happened? The Fixer got gunned down in the middle of the street. The healthy Solo ran to back the Fixer up. He caught 2 serious head shots, 2 minor hits to the body armor and nailed in the back by a rooftop sniper. He crawled half a block with 1 hit point and the group Nomad drove by to scoop him up. In bothe instances, they were each fine and less than 10 seconds (2-3 turns) they were not fine.
It's worth pointing out for the D&D players that a dismembered hand can be easily fixed by a trip to the hospital. It's not a permanent disfigurement requiring a very high level spell to fix like it is in D&D.
I thought this was an analysis of how well cyberpunk red could start its own version of the satanic panic. I was wrong, but not disappointed. Very good vid.

Binge watched pretty much every video on this channel. Great work! Would love more build videos. Not necessarily specific characters, but rather playstyles (such as katana wielding assassin, tech sniper, sandevistan brawler, etc).
In DnD, you can become as strong as a god. In Red, you can die in one turn even with all the best kit and highest skills. You survive if your positioning is good. Getting hit once will kill you because it compounds very quickly. You CANNOT get hit and if you try to be brave, you will get killed.
Isn't the point of Cyberpunk RED/2020 is to eventually die? Its in the themes. You burnout and go out with a bang. Meanwhile death is this weird thing 5e drags around out of tradition from past editions where death was much more present.
I always encourage my players to get risky. I can share a story involving one of my Netrunners, Smoke, and her attempt to take the ringleader of that NCPD corruption ring out by tackling them off of a building with her knowing she'd not make it. It's just also nice that they survive long enough to get good and attached to their own stories so that when death does come calling, they make it matter too.
The problem is 2020 and Friday night fire fights was built as a mil sim. As a result if you charge a man with an ak47 with a sword your gonna have a bad time. Your so-posed to use military tactics. Red is way easier though
@Mundane Axiom I liked people passing out fron pain / shock / blood loss rather than fighting to the death. I also liked the 10% headshot chance (though I always house-ruled leg shots to be less common and center mass to be moreso, as no one is aiming low). That said, I had to carefully avoid serious combat in order to do the long-term storytelling I love. Red makes my vision much easier to accommodate. As the video mentioned, limbs may go flying off, but hey, Choom! They're cheap!

what program used for tabletop game
My players were usually very cautious and scared whenever I ran my Cyberpunk games compared to our DnD sessions lol
And that's why Mike Pondsmith likes to introduce himself with "I'm the guy who killed your Cyberpunk character"

@@michaeltrout9731 right, I forgot about the hospital bill since my group runs with a Medtech(usually me) basically all the time

Don't tempt me because that'd be such a funny idea for a parody/satire video.
@@DiceTTRPG April's a ways off, and a satanic panic tier list might be fun?

Cyberpunk... where you start to love cover and stealth
dice! this is exactly the kinda stuff i’m looking for
actual gameplay references introducing rules and mechanics
THANK YOU
Great video! Always love to see Cyberpunk Red content 👍
This is actually a useful explanation for the system

I've never found the idea of the game being dangerous to be intimidating, but exhilarating in concept

It can happen to an end-game character like its nothing.
A couple of bad rolls and yer a damn chicken nugget in 1 turn 😆

Ok, I have to know what program you're using for the 3D maps and minis, so preem
Please let us know what is this badass program you use for vtt
That VTT is TaleSpire.
Compared to 2020, Red is super gentle.
(Saying this as someone who's been running 2020 since '99)
Can't say I miss shock saves personally, but they certainly made 2020 unique
