I would also add one thing that I noticed in every HSCC video, whether it be a studio recording or live performance - each and every one of them is having a great time and most importantly, they are all supporting each other. There are no “individuals’ vying for the spot;light. I can’t tell you how many bands I’ve seen where the guitarist or drummer thinks he/she is the only one on stage. None of that here - just an incredibly gifted bunch of performers working as one, propping each other up.

As a semi-retired live soundman I loved this video. Man, I would have killed, KILLED to work with a band like this back in the day.

The mix is impeccable.
Everything you do to get your sound is bar far the best for viewers of anything onUA-cam. My 7.1 surround receiver receives a Dolby Digital 3/2.1 audio that sounds like a live band in my living room. 🤙🤙🤙
Okay, but that doesn't explain why the whole mix sound so great. Because your videos have exceptional audio quality even with the lossy compression of UA-cam.
I think the sound engineers do their job very well.
The secret is Talent and No ego plus Freaking Awesome folks.
It's very interesting and amazing how you and Con put the different aspects together. However, you cannot have the incredible finished product without the talents of each and every individual...which collectively makes HSCC the hottest band in the world.

The most impressed in this band is the musical memory, in each song ! None is reading pentagram, every body in the group , They know exactly what is the next step detail song , is surprising!!! I love guys ! Musicians and singers are power talent !!!!!
I’m blown away that this band from Adelaide HSCC can be so superlative at covers. You can’t take away from the production and arranging skills of the two leaders especially Darren who is a prodigious but understated talent. It would be good if they could go the next step and write, produce and perform some original tunes.

So nice to see a band playing all the right songs. These guys are off the charts! Another great Australian band! There has to be something in the drinking water...
I had the opportunity to be backstage to see bands like Roxy Music, Elvis Costello, Jeff Beck, J Geils.....and a few more.....the sound on stage was just like a recording......the monitors and the number of monitors allowed for that to happen......one performance I went into the audience to hear what they were hearing and it sounded like crap..... monitors are very important whether their in your ear or on the stage......you guys always sound great.....nice work keep it up....

Thank you. Like learning about the technical aspect of recording. I shows the amount of prep and work involved in making music 🎶. Recording talent, instrument maintenance, practicing, learning a song. Testing everything together. Most people love the song and talented performance, but don't think about all that's involved to make it all come together in a performance. I even mentioned the camera person's working in a small space in a previous comment. Using less as more in getting everyone in the shot and closeup on the lead singer or musical lead instrument. Darren, thank you for pulling back the curtain and sharing your knowledge about IEM, and microphones. Dynamics are so important to music and it really forces the band to really to listen to each other. You guys really do a great job with that. I was hoping, without sharing all your trade secrets, would it be possible to show us how you create your final mix? How you decide when Con gets a meatier bass line, a lighter drum pocket, vocal levels? I would love to see that! Thank you all, and continued success!

Back in the sixties the band I was in found its way into a local TV show for teenagers. We were excited to be there. Then we were told we would not be hearing our vocals while performing. It was the oddest moment to be had.

Condensers have a proximity effect also, the trick is to get extremely close and not overload them. The dynamics sound great so who cares. Your excellent groove, plus super singing is a huge part of your great sound. Sarah is just outstanding. She has got it. She needs a hit song to break, which I checked her original material and it's not there. With a few or at least one great smash, which isn't easy, your thing could blow up huge.
