- White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre shot down a reporter's question asking whether President Biden has Alzheimer's disease or dementia following his lackluster performance during Thursday's debate against former President Donald Trump. Jean-Pierre on Tuesday held the first White House briefing since the debate.

My maternal grandmother, and mother both developed and passed from Alzheimer's. I was home from before and during my mother's decline. It looks like what my mother went through. I give him 3 years, tops.
I watched My great great grandfather do the exact same things when I was 9 years old and he died 2 years later 💯

No one has administered a cognitive test yet, so saying he has dementia is speculative. I don't think he would pass a cognitive test, remembering 5 words for 10 minutes, or counting backwards from 100 subtracting 7. Again all speculations because the test has not been given to him.

Ok doctor can you explain the signs and symptoms that show Biden has dementia. My aging mother genuinely had it before she passed. Funny how Biden never reminded me of mother as I cared for her in final short and painful years.

I work in healthcare and I can see that he has some early signs of dementia. His walk is a tell tell sign, along with the slowed speech, at times confused look, not being able to form a smooth coherent statement, and the falls he’s taken. During the debate a few times he used numbers to make his point to keep him on track. He also referred to Trump and the republicans as “him and his group”, not as Trump and his party or the republicans. It’s almost as if he forgot who and what ticket he was talking about. It’s really sad to be honest. No one in his camp is going to admit to it especially 4 months away from the election. President Reagan had Alzheimer’s into his second term and started showing signs of it, but no one in his camp admitted to it until years after he left office.

The 'other guy' has taken cognitive tests. As I am a 67 year old senior citizen, my health insurance requires that I, as well as all senior citizens, take an annual cognitive test. Every politician in Congress 65 years and older should be required by their doctor to take a cognitive test. So, why hasn't 81 year old Joe Biden taken a cognitive test???

Actually you can. My father was…and scans will show significant brain shrinkage…even before the disease takes away an individuals ability to do something so complex as driving. My father drove for several years after his diagnosis. I was there for all of it, the scans, the neurology visits. They can at the very least diagnose dementia.

Alzheimer's is incredibly hard to diagnose, particularly while the victim is still alive. Biden is clearly unwell, the White House can add any label they want, but "senile" is more than enough to disqualify Biden for a second term, no question at this point. Democrats needs to do their job and recall Biden and nominate someone else (hopefully not Kamala).

well, he may not have that specific type of neurocognitive degeneration (alzheimers that is) but he has SOME type if neurocognitive degeneration (i.e. some type of dementia: likely parkinson related dementia or lewy body dementia. look up the symptoms, it’s what you see in him. and it’s accelerating.) it’s like saying „nope, not apricot jam“ (when its cherry jam - and not plain bread and butter.)

Denial is very common in people who are showing signs of dementia, and their family and friends. They may be unwilling to acknowledge the possibility of dementia and try to find another explanation, such as normal ageing, tiredness, health problems or stress.
