guys!!! i figured it out! i was having so much trouble for an entire day after getting them on the wall. if you can’t pair them, and this is a really really simple solution but i haven’t seen anywhere else, you just want to take the panels down, unplug everything from each other (including the connecting pieces), turn on airplane mode, and throw them out the window. then, you’re going to want to take the wall stickers off as gently as possible, and then throw the drywall that came off with them out the window as well.

For anyone desperately trying to pair their smart device to the app through their phone, I have FINALLY found a solution. First you have to place your phone in airplane mode, once you do that, turn back on your wifi--but keep it in airplane mode. After you've done that open back up the app and you should have a lot easier time pairing your device through the app. It's strange and roundabout way, but it works.

Tried every single solution I can find as to why mine won’t pair, tried soft and hard resetting, I can’t remove the shapes from my app as they haven’t connected in the first place! Every time I try to connect it spins for ages and results in ‘unable to pair’.

I'm having quite a hard time. My sister and I both got kits, my sister the triangles, I the hexagons. My sister had no issue connecting her shapes, but it just won't work for me.. I've tried everything, my sister and parents are also out of ideas. Does anyone have advice for me?

You definitely shouldn’t have a issue when connecting and pairing more than 1x set - please follow the instructions: Go to the bottom left corner on the Nanoleaf App “...More” > My devices > top right corner “+” > Select the light model > follow the instructions and from there everything should be up and running on your end. EVERYONE THE QR CODE Is on the PLUG IN NOT ON THE PANEL I didn’t know that maybe it will help someone

I took down the light panels and threw them in the garbage and will never buy another Nanoleaf product in my life and will tell everyone I know what a complete waste of space this company is!

Got some light panels and been working for 5 years, now they stopped and disconnected from my iphone and cant get them to pair again as ive tried every reset and it doesnt want to connect and just loads for the next two hours without connecting. So good wen they work but awful trying to connect them
I just bought a set and can’t get it to pair. I don’t know what my router is running. I’ll find out when I have time but I think it’s a little off putting that the lights will not run on 5g. Will Nanoleaf fix this in the future? For the price of these panels you’d think they would be easier to pair and not have to sacrifice the speed of your internet to control the lights.

@@blackshadowsnoopy No I didn’t. I contacted Shaw ( internet provider ) and they were pretty much useless as always. So I gave up and haven’t used them since. Sorry I couldn’t help.
There is two easy solutions for this. The problem is that most modern routers are using 5Ghz not 2,4Ghz for wireless network. And Nanoleaf only support the setup through 2,4. So what you do is the following - go into your settings on your phone and choose Nanoleafs own wifi network instead of your router. It should show up where you find your wifi networks. Then it Will pair, so do the setup and then just go back to your normal Wi-Fi network again. Another solution is to use 2,4ghz on your Wi-Fi (router) as most have 2 networks up at the same time. And a 3rd solution is to use airplane mode on your phone as this should force 5ghz Wi-Fi off but enable 2,ghz as backup. Hope this helps someone.

The reset method works for me instantly. Press the power and plus button for 10 seconds, you will see all the panel lights are blinking. Pair your accessory now by scanning the QR code and it should be paired to your phone shortly. PS I’m using a 5Gz Wi-Fi, so don’t bother finding ways to change your Wi-Fi settings.

THESE LIGHTS MADE ME CRY AND PROBABLY MAKE ANY NON TECH GURU CRY!!! So hard to pair for NO REASON! Idk if this comment will reach anyone on the fence about buying this product... But unless your a tech wizard and got a lot of patience DONT BUY... Idk why for months my hexagon shapes have been working so fine with pairing to my phone then i did change wifi router (i was told by someone smarter in tech then me that it was same router as one i had before) the shapes worked for a bit after the change then suddenly like two weeks in they stopped working. I tried to follow the supposedly easy steps to reset the device. After a hour successfully did the soft reset now its been i wanna say a good three + weeks of me trying to pair the dang shapes again. Haven't still been successful. I think if i read right its cause the wifi GHz or whatever is 5 and not 2.4 but idk how to change that and i don't want to try messing with my wifi settings just so these supposedly "smart" lights to work. Idk why they cant work with the 5ghz especially since it seems a lot of new routers auto come with that. I've even tried the hotspot thing in their help desk article area, lights still aren't connecting. Luckily i did a soft reset so i didn't lose all my scene settings so i can just manually change them with the little remote but cant be called smart tech if it behaves like a old school tv where you gotta get up to change anything on the device. Also at initial setting up when i first got them still took FOREVER to pair... Anyways i hope this company fixes their issues on pairing as it seems i am not the only one to struggle with pairing. Please do better for your customers who shelled out money who thought there were "easy to use smart tech" cool lights.
I paid 40€ for a the new Connect thing after mine is dead after a year the Holding strips are really bead, but i paid 40€ for a new Connect thing and it doesn‘t work.

These are such a struggle! Why is pairing these such a difficulty! Mine has no QR code on the back of the control unit, only a barcode that wont scan. There is nowhere in app to type in the pairing code from the back... any ideas? (Also, no welcome card)

Nothing of all that helps! I got the first gen leafs. NO QR on the module, NO QR on the plug, there is NOT A SINGLE QR CODE on mine!
I Tried everything and every tip from the comment s here - no chance to pair the leafs with my app/phone. You updated your clunky product and the old ones dosn't work anymore I think. My friend got the same problems and he's first gen leafs too. This is no product support!
After 10 hours I finally managed to connect.
For all FritzBox users - set the WPA mode to "WPA2+WPA3" in the WPA encryption. I'm glad it finally worked, but I have to say that the way it's done is very user-unfriendly.

Absolutely awful. I regret ever buying these things. Each time I walk all the way up to my mailbox to get a 2.4 signal so that I can pair these. It still wants me to use their inherent and non-functional network to pair which means nothing ever works on the same network and it's a basically useless system. For the amount of money these cost. You would think they would have figured this out by now. Stick with Phillips hue, that's probably what I'm going to end up doing anyway
Pairing these went from the easiest thing ever to the most pain stakingly unfun process that there ever was. My shapes stopped working randomly the other day so I tried a soft reset; didnt work, went to do a hard reset which now I cant even get them repaired so I have giant overly expensive light panels on my wall now that dont even work anymore. I have tried every single googleable solution to get them to work and they still just dont work...and my controller is barely even a year old after my other one stopped working from hardly a year of use...-10/10

Hey! Our lights only work on 2.4 GHz frequency, and any 5G network our lights will not be able to connect and that’s when you’ll run into connectivity issues. You can simply change and connect your lights towards your 2.4 GHz frequency and they will be able to read and connect to your network. If you do come across any issues please contact our support team and they will help you out with this issue issue.

What do I do if I, like most people in 2023, only have 5G? Are these garbage?

Our Nanoleaf products only work on 2.4 GHz frequency if you have your network On both 5G and 2.4 your router will automatically go for the best frequency which will be 5G and connect to our lights automatically which you’ll run into connectivity issues. Go to the bottom left corner … (more tab) > My devices > top right corner select “+” > Select which light model > Afterwards it’s going to ask you to scan code, type it in manually or even use NFC for the pairing process. Let's see... i set my network to only 2.4ghz, error code 14 on Android. I try the desktop app and it tells me the password is incorrect. I copy and paste the password from the app into my Wi-Fi connection and it works without a problem. The password has no special characters. Wrong password. I can create a second network with my router, i set the password to just numbers, and nope! Wrong password. I set to just lower case letters, nope! Wrong password. I have done soft reset, hard reset, error code 014 (which no literature or online sources says at all what that is) when trying to setup with Android on phone and a tablet. And wrong password error from computer app with a working password. I connect directly to it on the WiFi network, and sure, it works, but i have no Internet connection and can't control it with any smart home setups. This is the dumbest pairing i have ever had for a "smart" device.

Do you enjoy pain and frustration? Nanoleaf is for you. The pairing doesnt work if you have mesh networks, it just times out. The pairing doesnt work for 5GHz networks. You might need a dedicated old router just to connect. NFC has never worked. If successful, it is unstable. One of my panels quit working after 2 years and 2 months, so I had to buy an extension kit of 3 additional panels, no warranty for you. Nice if/when working, but brace yoursafe for a painful experience. Remember to buy spares. Avoid if not too late!

this app is incredably annoying my router supports both 2.5ghz and 5ghz how ever you are not able to choose wich to use it automtauicly picks for you and the app is unable to pick up the 2.5ghz band because the router by defulat broadcasts the 5ghz unless you choose outside the router itself wich the app is unable to do and the router cannot be configured to allow it

Ok guys at least on shapes you need to be aware there are two points in the pairing process where you need to switch between the shapes controller and your router in order to connect the two, if you miss this its possible to try and connect the shapes controller to itself and it fails. We should have the ability to connect to modern wifi 5ghz modern mesh wifi makes this possible.

I've gone through about 10 different videos and still nothing. I'll be surprised if you guys actually respond to this but please.....fix your app. I've now seen an oblivious amount of reviews on how mediocre the app is and how the QR scanner (which I tried) doesn't even work. I have an Alexa at home, and I simply cannot connect my new Nanoleaf device with its intended app. None of the three pairing options works! I tried connection through the standard means, by reading the Apple QR code, but that way it tries to connect only with Apple HomeKit, which loads forever and ultimately fails saying it cannot find any device. Also tried activating the Alexa integration, but when I'm redirect to Alexa Nanoleaf skill confirmation it says that said skill is not available anymore! I tried changing languages, connecting with a different Account, uninstalling Apple's Home App from my iOS device. Nothing worked, I simply cannot use your damn app to connect to them damn leaf (which wasn't cheap), so I demand a quick and direct response. Why is the skill not available in Alexa anymore? Why does the Nanoleaf tries to connect with the lights through Home app? That's just dumb, can't you implement connection to your own light panels through your own damn app? Reply quick, so I can return the product if you're not able to provide a solution. If you don't I'm gonna return in the limit anyway, and badmouth your product to the four cardinal winds.

And how to delete of you have problems. I have deleted the app several times. I have deleted my device aswell! Still everytime I Scan the code the only answer is that the light strip is already in use. So stupid! I can’t find it anywhere! Not in the nanoleaf app. Not in the home devises!

Try Power Cycling your Panels as well. You can do that by just unplugging them, then plugging them back in.
What do I do if I have no controller I bought the expansion pack and I got a plug to use them but I don’t have a controller

I had problem connecting my Nanoleaf but after I turned off the 5Ghz signal (so Im only using 2.4ghz) on my wifi it worked.

Thats not even how the app looks like. And the scanning dont work. And why cant I delete previous homes and devices??? WHY CANT I DO SHIT ON THIS APP?? Hello!! Starter Kit includes all of the necessary items to make sure it’s ready straight from the packaging! PSU, Controller, Linkers, Panels and the Expansion Pack is basically an “Add-on” to expand you’re set! Looks like your missing a Controller which can be found on our website!
I did all this but when I pressed start paring it didn’t open the camera thing and there was no where to put the code in (I have an iphone xr)

For some reason the it won’t scan the code, I put the code in front of my camera, and it just won’t scan it what can I do to fix this?
Have you tried to manually type in the pairing code? Or use NFC, you basically hover your phone on top of the Controller until it reads the code!?

1. Open up the Nanoleaf app
2. Click the "More" tab (3 circles) at the bottom right corner of the app.
3. Select "My Devices"
4. Click the "+" on the top right corner of the screen
5. Click "Pair" on the device you wan't
6. You should then see a prompt that's highlighted in orange come up that says "More options" click on it
7. After that click "My Accessory isn't showing anywhere"
8. Another prompt will pop up after that saying "Enter Code" it will also be highlighted in orange. Click on it.
9. Enter your code then you're good to go!
