figure skating is by far one of the hardest sports, with constant falling, relearning everything you've known and dealing with injuries, and as a figure skater myself, I'm constantly questioning if I can do this. These skaters go through everything and more

Yuzuru is so elegant, such a remarkable skater. Perfect in all ways, spins, jumps, deep edge…..etc.He is so skilled and talented. He is a genius.the GOAT all the time. Yuzu is such a hard worker, he pushes himself to his limit every time.
Even though i don't really have much interested on ice skating, this just showed me that everything requires practice in order to master a thing or two And even though what im aiming for is far from ice skating, somehow it still motivates me to practice my drawing skills and improve Just seeing them do the "trial and error" adds a little bit of a boost to my self esteem It's not that i like seeing people fail, im just scared to make mistakes myself but seeing as to how people do make mistakes from time to time, made me realize that i don't need to fear failure since it's a part of growing and learning. I'll just end it here since i basically typed a whole essay lol

I have exactly the same. I don't know how to explain it, but figure skating motivates me to pursue music further. Looking at how they stubbornly go towards their goal, I did not give up and continue to practice. Before the entrance exams, I was ready to give up, but I continued to fight thanks to figure skating and entered the music college.
That's very interesting. I'm a huge fan of figure skating and one day a friend of mine was really upset because she made a big mistake at work and she was suddenly doubting that she was even supposed to be a programmer after that. And I told her that the best figure skater in the world still falls when he takes a risk, he still falls on bad days. And nobody stops considering him the best because of that. One mistake doesn't define people. It really helped her to think about it that way and I tell this to myself when I fail too. 💕
as a figure skater myself, it is so tiring. i have thoughts of quitting from time to time, because of how harsh it is. but on the ice, is where i express my emotions. figure skating takes skill, effort, and many bruises. im working on my double axel, and what can i tell you, its hard. it took me nearly a year to perfect a single axel. figure skating is such a hard sport, and i hate it when someone just looks at a person skating on screen and say: “oh thats so easy, its like jumping the floor”. its harder when youre on ice, i swear.

These AMAZING and very TALENTED figure skaters are able to do their jumps with ease, but in REALITY, they are EXTREMELY DIFFICULT MOVES to PERFECT, With LIFT OFF they are able to take off without much difficulty, but upon LANDING their very difficult jumps, it must be noted that they LITERALLY COME DOWN WITH THE WEIGHT FORCE OF MORE THAN 1/2 A TONNE!!!!!!! INCREDIBLE!!!!!!!!
this is just such a difficult yet beautiful and elegant sport. It combines ballet, gymnastics sheer endurance and stamina and that too all on nice. Its too beautiful

Ice skating is a full around sport, you need flexibility, you need strength, you need balance, you need timing. When I started getting into ice skating I was impressed by what all went into it!

The biggest thing going against you in any sport is your mood, your life gets in the way so often. That’s the hardest thing of it all. Much harder than the technics. I also really enjoyed the Germany skaters, Aljona and Bruno, their size difference made their program so amazing, and Aljona's journey had been so difficult, she truly deserved this medal. Her smile at 1:44 is priceless, she's like "I nailed it, my gold medal is **now** or never".
This is the reason why I love figure skating to never give up I started skating when I was 4 and hopefully one day I’ll be like them and this video gave me a lot of motivation thank you! I watched this video like over 10 times I love it! 💕💕💕

as a figure skater i can say this figure skating is many times thought as a easy sport bc it’s like ”dancing on ice” but it’s not similar to dancing bc skating is more harder and it needs good techniques. training in competitive team always gives some pressure bc coaches are really precise. some peoples when they see figure skater thinks that “i can do better” but DON’T EVER show off to figure skater bc it’s really annoying. my friends asked me why did i start figure skating bc it’s not even that hard and i thought you wanted challenging hobby when they don’t even know how to skate…

Now that I could , my parents tell me that it 's pointless to do it , that I don 't need figure skating at all in the future . But I really want to . I was told that I have abilities . I asked my parents to go to the ice rink this month . They said they wouldn 't allow it until October . Meaning? My advice for everyone : do what you like . Don't pay attention if they tell you that you don't need it and so on. Or that you are not destined to do this sport , for example . If you listen , then you will have an empty soul, for example , like I have now . Apart from studying and passing exams well , I don 't want anything anymore . My birthday is coming soon so I will ask my parents to do amateur figure skating again . By the way video is perfect !

As much as I love to watch figure skating, it's so wrapped up in political scoring and nonsensical spin rules and corrupt judges. It's been hard to get invested lately. I keep wondering, who the heck willingly becomes a skater?
I have what is probably a dumb question... why don't skaters wear hip and knee/elbow pads when they're practicing? Does it interfere with their movement?
we don't wear knee/elbow pads cause it adds weight, looks incredibly dumb, and restricts movement. although, there are these things called butt pads that are pretty common, they're basically padded shorts
Some people do. It's not that much weight and doesn't restrict movement if you get good ones. However, there isn't really a need once you've gotten better at a jump because we learn how to fall. Most people only wear lots of padding for new jumps and as they get better, the padding they wear decreases. Personally, I only wear knee or elbow padding if I recently got a bruise in that area because I'll be too scared to jump and fall on an area that's already bruised if I don't. That's because I don't fall on knees a lot so extra padding is just annoying. However I'll wear butt pads on any jump I'm not very confident in because I fall on my butt a lot.

Yeah, ice skating is definitely more than just staking around and do some jumps. Might be look easy but is not, I assure you.😅

Now that I could , my parents tell me that it 's pointless to do it , that I don 't need figure skating at all in the future . But I really want to . I was told that I have abilities . I'm practicing alone in ice rink rarely. But I'm in 9th grade and i don't have time so much . I'm always busy... I asked my parents to go to the ice rink this month . They said they wouldn 't allow it until October . Meaning? My advice for everyone : do what you like . Don't pay attention if they tell you that you don't need it and so on. Or that you are not destined to do this sport , for example . If you listen , then you will have an empty soul, for example , like I have now . Apart from studying and passing exams well , I don 't want anything anymore . My birthday is coming soon so I will ask my parents to do amateur figure skating again .

As much as I love to watch figure skating, it's so wrapped up in political scoring and nonsensical spin rules and corrupt judges. It's been hard to get invested lately. I keep wondering, who the heck willingly becomes a skater?
We just love the feeling of freedom and joy. Not everyone wants to be the best skater. Some of us just want to do it for ourselves 😊

I have what is probably a dumb question... why don't skaters wear hip and knee/elbow pads when they're practicing? Does it interfere with their movement?
we don't wear knee/elbow pads cause it adds weight, looks incredibly dumb, and restricts movement. although, there are these things called butt pads that are pretty common, they're basically padded shorts
It’s harder to rotate in the air bc there’s more weight, you could wear tights with added padding though.
Some people do. It's not that much weight and doesn't restrict movement if you get good ones. However, there isn't really a need once you've gotten better at a jump because we learn how to fall. Most people only wear lots of padding for new jumps and as they get better, the padding they wear decreases. Personally, I only wear knee or elbow padding if I recently got a bruise in that area because I'll be too scared to jump and fall on an area that's already bruised if I don't. That's because I don't fall on knees a lot so extra padding is just annoying. However I'll wear butt pads on any jump I'm not very confident in because I fall on my butt a lot.
