- I love this song. I played it this week at a memorial for a man who had learned it as his first song on guitar, which means playing it over and over again and I thought "what a perfect choice!" It has a simple chord structure so it wouldn't be too hard to get your head around and the melody is just lovely, it comes in waves, each phrase is so poetic, it's wonderful to sing.
The memorial was beautiful and while I didn't know John, he was clearly beloved by many and he was a true music lover. It was my honour to sing this song for him.

Very nice, and truly a stunningly beautiful song. My two favorite versions, which are recommended to all, are by Fairport Convention and (yes, really) Spanky and Our Gang. I love the double tracking of your vocal.

Tara, I was so delighted to find you had posted this. Particularly since you told me that you had never picked it up before John's service. You have done it beautifully! (As for moi, I'm still struggling with that off beat rhythm that Leonard used. I'm determined to get it, though! I know that I speak for Karen, when I say that added immeasurably to the service.
